Emma Darcy is the pseudonym created by the married writing team of Wendy (1940-2020) and Frank Brennan (1936-1995). Their life journey has taken as many twists and turns as the characters in their stories, whose international popularity has resulted in over sixty-million book sales. With more than a hundred titles, Emma Darcy appeared regularly on the Waldenbooks bestseller lists in the U.S.A. and in the Nielson BookScan Top 100 chart in the U.K.
Wendy was born 28 November 1940 in Australia. Her sister was the novelist Maureen Mary (Miranda Lee). Her father was a country school teacher and brilliant sportsman. Her mother was a talented dressmaker. She obtained an Honours degree in Latin and initially worked as a high school English/French teacher. She married Frank Brennan, an Australian businessman born in 1936. She changed careers to computer programming before marriage and motherhood settled her into a community life. She was reputedly the first woman computer programmer in the southern hemisphere.
As voracious readers, the step to writing their own books seemed a natural progression and the challenge of creating exciting stories was soon highly addictive. They were published since 1983. In 1993, for the Emma Darcy pseudonym's 10th anniversary, they created the "Emma Darcy Award Contest" to encourage authors to finish their manuscripts. After the death of Frank Brennan in 1995, Wendy wrotes books on her own. She lived in a beachside property on the central coast of New South Wales, and liked to travel extensively to research settings and increase her experience of places and people.
Wendy Brennan passed away on December 21, 2020. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and sister, writer Miranda Lee.
Yuck! Heroine fell into the same bed where H and his dog-kicking girlfriend were having sex just days before? I am supposed to believe in the insta-love between these two after they met five minutes ago and suddenly they are changing each other's lives in the most profound level? When the heroine frets about being accepted by hero's uber-wealthy family, he tells her he has a surefire way to get her accepted, because she is a willing broodmare and his other sibling can't have children? This whole story was a mess. The only good thing about it was the dog, who peed a nice puddle in the spot where the vicious dog-kicking OW had been standing but he should have done it while she was standing there, not after!!!

This book was, for lack of a better word, amateurish. The conflict didn't work, because when the conflict is related to class differences, the author really has to sell the idea that class differences matter in the modern world. Emma Darcy did not succeed in doing that, so the heroine seemed like a fool. It was never possible to see the snobby OM as in any way appealing -- the h's interest in him made her lose credibility.
The H was a pretty nice person obviously from the beginning, although there was a major ick factor about the way she first saw him (she interrupted his sex with the OW and there was at least one graphic detail provided). The H did all the running, which I'm fine with.
The final chapter and epilogue were lazy and embarrassing. For example, why was she meeting his parents only in the last chapter and why was the encounter reported second hand? This was a situation where class snobbery was allegedly a concern -- the parents' reaction would have been key to showing that the H had been truly accepted.

When Serena's engagement to a wealthy property developer ends, she vows to avoid rich men! As a hairdresser, she clearly wasn't good enough for her fiance - which is exactly what she overhears Australian tycoon Nic Moretti comment at a glamorous party...
Furious with Nic, Serena has a shock when her new job brings her into daily contact with him. Though she was determined to teach him a lesson, now she's shaken by the sexual chemistry between them and the passionate relationship that develops... But surely a billionaire bridegroom wants a high society bride?
Harusnya kucing yang mempertemukan Nic & Serena. Bukan apa2 sih tapi sepertinya kucing lebih merepotkan & menyebalkan (tapi imut) jika dijaga selama 2 bln karena si pemiliknya (adik Nic) pergi. Anyway, setelah selesai tetek bengek soal anjing, masuk ke romance-nya yah gitudeh, males soal diulang2 soal mindernya Serena karena status sosial tetapi lemah hayati kalo ketemu Nic.
I wasn't happy with the ending. It felt very rushed and brought up questions because they skipped so much time from the next to last chapter, to the last. Otherwise, the book kept me engaged and was rather good.
The billionaire Bridegroom by Emma Darcy. Another great, quick read. I spent a lot of time over the past couple of days doing other things besides reading, so didn't get finished as quick as I normally would with a short book like this. :)
Perbedaan status sosial menjadi ide dasar buku ini. yah kayak tipe Cinderella lagi sih. Cuma di buku ini cewenya punya trauma dicampakan karena hanya dia seorang penata rambut. Bukan dari golongan highclass.
Ceritanya terlalu so so kalau menurutku. Ga ada naik turunnya. Flat.
dopo 56 pagine in cui si parla solo dei problemi di un cane, per quanto possa volere bene agli animali lascio perdere. tra l'altro è pieno di ripetizioni e lo stile ha parecchi intoppi. claudicante.
I like this book & read it twice. The story is really simple. If looking for light romance but still can make you have teary eyes, this is a book for you.
