read for an introduction to computer systems course I had a week before the final exam so... rating: 2.5/5 the book gives you a basic non-technical introduction to computer systems : software, hardware, networks, information systems, and security. that may be a good course for non-tech majors but like common, that should not be in a cs degree. superficial and not really well explained at some points (just my opinion), a bit dated and a bit dry too.
good read? idk I didn't hate it, but I would rather have spent that time reading a more technical book.
Some nice background on computing along with its social and cultural impacts, but in my opinion the information is pretty dated and overly simplistic for college readers.
