George MacDonald was a Scottish author, poet and Christian Congregational minister. He became a pioneering figure in the field of modern fantasy literature and the mentor of fellow-writer Lewis Carroll. In addition to his fairy tales, MacDonald wrote several works of Christian theology, including several collections of sermons.
The one I have was printed in 1961, which looks like it was the first American Publication of the book. "The light princess" and "the day boy and the night girl" were my favorites. I don't remember too much about the others except "the golden key", which was random and confusing. An enjoyable read, nonetheless.
I have not read this entire book--just "The Light Princess" A Quick and Fun read but when you dive into the inner meanings of "light" created in this book--it becomes an even better book.
