Roberts Liardon is an interesting fellow who's had an interesting life and by all means, he's had some interesting and heavenly experiences. But he is not a writer.
What I liked about this book:
1) His written account of his trip to Heaven aligns with his video account. 2) For people who believe in the verity of the Gospels, the book gives a glimpse of what we long for. 3) It's a fast read, just 61 pages. He doesn't try to puff up his short trip to Heaven with empty prose to make the book longer. The book is, by the way, about 3/8" thick. Sort of a grown-up pamphlet.
What I didn't like about this book:
1) This is my second Liardon book. His style is--hard to describe--breezy, lacking in depth and detail. Enthusiastic, but the meat just isn't there.
What a great book! I really enjoyed reading it and imagining the author’s experience. God is truly wonderful. One of my favorite parts was when Jesus showed little Roberts one of the storehouses of unclaimed blessings. God already has everything we need at our disposal; He’s just waiting for us to grab it by faith.
“This building contained all of the parts of the human body that people on earth need, but Christians have not realized these blessings are waiting in heaven. There is no place else in the universe for these parts to go except right here on earth; no one else needs them. Jesus said to me, "These are the unclaimed blessings. This building should not be full. It should be emptied. You should come in here with faith and get the needed parts for you, and the people you will come in contact with that day."”
“All you have to do is go in and get what you need by the arm of faith, because it is there. You do not have to cry and beg God to make the part you need. Just go get it. The doors to the storehouses are never locked. They are always open for those who need to go in. We should empty those buildings.”
“We cannot know the Trinity by our feelings. We learn to know them through the Word of God. Our emotions are fickle, because they have been influenced by the environment of the world and by the world's thinking. We cannot depend on our feelings. But if we study God's Word, we will learn to know God better.”
“If we could realize that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us, none of us would remain sick.”
“We need to learn to walk and talk with God as Enoch did. We need to get to know God for what He is, not for what His benefits are. If your heart is right toward God, then you will receive the benefits.”
“As Smith Wigglesworth said, we must look at earth's problems from heaven's viewpoint.”
“The day will come when every single person in a meeting will be healed. This move of the Holy Spirit will be the demonstration of the power of God.”
Like all the heaven tourism books this one is full of stories loosely based on what the Bible has already described so one wonders what the purpose of a "new revelation" would be. Perhaps it is because the Bible is not enough for people like Liardon. Rather than being satisfied with believing in what God has said, he thinks we need an eye witness like him rather than the apostles. He is either a liar or one deceived by Satan. One thing he saw in "Heaven" though deserves special mention. He saw a room of body parts that sat unclaimed because people on earth did not have enough faith to believe God could give them new legs, arms, and eyes to replace the defective ones God already gave them. Roberts Liardon, by the way wears glasses. Apparently he does not have enough faith to claim new eyes from the spare body parts room! Never trust a faith healer who wears glasses! His book is #forhereticalresearchonly.
I have had this book since 1994, but just read the 1st chapter. Reading it now i knew i was being silly for leaving it. so it indirectly took me 20 years to read..:| Thank GOD i did. God can use anybody just make yourself available to him. It's amazing how we find excuse not to read books that will help us grow spiritually, but read other books without thinking of the impact it will have to our mind.
This book is very special to me. My youngest brother asked my mom to read it to him every night when he was about 8-9 years old. He passed away at age 12, and I have found myself going back to skim the book over the years and appreciating its beautiful message , as well as anticipating seeing him again someday. A good read and a quick one.
So cool learning about the experience of an 8 year old Roberts Liardon taken up into heaven to experience the glory of this beautiful place, the dwelling place of those who believe in, trust and follow Jesus Christ.
He is properly named, LAIR. This book is total fiction, he is just a phoney preacher full of hot air. He invented this to make himself somebody, and launch his ministry.
In the right hands this book becomes life and starts a life changing journey into eternity. My life has been transformed forever. Evangelistic indeed!!!
