Hometown Reunion #10
Puppy Love
Puppy love was a thing of the past. Now Roger wanted the real thing.
A May/December romance is out of the question for Gracie Lawson. Apart from the age thing, she's not looking to settle down with anyone; she's just starting to spread her wings.
As a bagboy, Roger had worshiped Gracie from afar. Fourteen years later the worship is up close and personal, but she won't hear of becoming his lover. He has to make her understand.
This isn't puppy love anymore. And Gracie is throwing away the best thing that could happen to either one of them, for the sake of convention a la Tyler.

It was a cute book, right up until chapter 13. Forcing someone into your car, refusing to let them out and taking them to a remote cabin is NOT acceptable. I get that it was supposed to be some grand romantic gesture, but it's stuff like this in our popular culture that makes it seen okay. Makes predators out of men and victims out of women. Do better Ms. Chambers. If some guy did this to me, no matter how hot he was, I would be pressing charges. Not professing my love and marrying him.

A sweet little romance that had the added bonus of adorable animals.
Gracie Lawson is a retired dog breeder who has just moved back to Tyler after selling her farm and is trying to figure out where to go from here. She was not looking for a man, but that didn't stop Roger Phelps.
Roger has thought of Gracie for 14 years and has wanted her and only her to be his. He wants her but she is fighting him every step of the way. She's older than him and she has been burned badly in the past and the rumor mill in Tyler is buzzing.
I loved the interactions between Roger and Gracie. The reasons she has for not pursuing the relationship make sense but at the same time don't make sense. She thinks that the age difference is an issue, he doesn't. Neither does anyone else that Gracie confides in.
Roger knows that something happened in Gracie's past that hurt her, but she isn't saying. He is one of the most patient characters I've ever read, but I expected that out of a veterinarian and it works to his advantage with Gracie.
Overall, I thought this story was cute and I loved it.

For a romance, it was cute. The setting reminded me of my own small town home, and all the things that happens in it. Ginger Chambers really captures the feeling of being in a small town and how the characters would react differently than they would, had they been in placed in a city. The romance itself was pleasant but it seemed to be rushed. She could have slowed down a bit. Also the ending seemed a little cheesy (even for a romance novel). All in all though, it was a good read, that makes me want to read some of the other books in the series. I recommend this to any mild romance novel fans out there. Nothing hot and heavy in this one folks. (Sorry if that's a spoiler)

Not my glass of soda ( don't drink tea or coffee). It was very sweet and nice. I felt it to be a little boring. Love the animals though! I read most of the original Tyler series. This one is return to Tyler.
