I wish I knew if this book was marketed as a "young adult" book or not. (Which would mean it's meant for say, 14-year-olds). If it is, I'd say top notch.

If it's meant for actual adults, I'd say the message of the book is presented rather too bluntly. I'm a fan of the moral of the story being implied, rather than hitting the reader over the head with a 2x4. And if you're going to directly state the message of the book - never, EVER, more than once.

Anyway, it was an intriguing story, and kudos to the author for the obvious research done on ancient Mayan deities.
