133 books39 followersKei Toume (冬目景) studied at the Tama Art University in Tokyo. Her first manga, Rokujō gekijō, was published in Comic Burger magazine in 1992. The manga won her the Shiki prize in a contest held by Kodansha in 1993. A year later, her follow-up manga Mannequin also won a prize.
She started the series Lament of the Lamb in Comic Burger in 1996. This series ran for six years and was adapted into a radio play, an anime and a live action film.
In 1999, she began Sing Yesterday For Me, a manga inspired by a song of the Japanese rock group RC Succession. In addition, Toume contributes to a lot of fanzines and specialized magazines, and is also active in video games and films.
Her manga Kurogane and Lament of the Lamb have been translated into English.

I read the first book in this series over a year ago, but have always remembered it fondly. When I picked up Kurogane: Volume 2 and started reading it, I noticed a big difference.
The dialog has not been translated very well from Japanese to English. It is very awkward and doesn't flow very well. The credit at the front of the book says that it was translated, not adapted, and I can definitely see that. It is a shame because it hampers the telling of the story.
As for the artwork by Kei Toume, it still has its very gritty feel, which I like. This story is dark and the gritty feel of the artwork matches it perfectly.
I do like the main character a lot and we get to learn just a little bit more about his youth in this book, but not enough of it. Who really is Jintetsu of Steel? I wish I knew. I sure hope to find out in the next book, Kurogane: Volume 3.
Overall, the awkward translation of Kurogane: Volume 2 really hurt the telling of the story, so I could only say that it is a good read. It could have been excellent . . . maybe next time.

L'ho comprato in cofanetto di seconda mano. Gli altri volumi sono a posto. Questo è disgustoso: è strano sotto i polpastrelli. È stato bagnato in qualche modo e ha tutte le pagine rovinate. La copertina è piena di segni di denti (o qualcuno si è divertito con un punteruolo a far buchi). E puzza da far paura. BLEAH!! Mi sa che prenderà la via del cestino non appena arriverà un volume di ricambio.
Le storie brevi non mi piacciono. Gli ultimi capitoli del volumetto, che formano una storia lunga, sono invece molto più piacevoli da leggere.

The epizodic character of narration is improved by one long story consisting of 6 chapters. And a very good story it is. The second volume surpassed the first.
