Greenhouse (1991) by Thomas Easton.

The followup to _Sparrowhawk_ leaps ahead 40 years to 2084. One character from the original novel makes an appearance in _Greenhouse_. Two apparently unrelated stories are woven together as childhood friends reunite to deal with the personal consequences of the Biological Revolution. Character interaction is much more believable this time around.

Not impressed. It was sort of trying to be a satire while at the same time trying to take itself seriously. I figured out the mystery about half way through and it was a trudge after that. Not looking forward to reading anymore of the works in this world.
