(Rating and Review from 6 year old after reading together)
“I like that he got a puppy! That’s what he wanted and he got it!”
After reading a few of these short beginner chapter books with my son, they are very cute and over all have good messages. The font is large and their are some pictures and they are good for developing readers to build up that confidence a bit. This one in particular was very sweet of you like pets.
This is such a great book series for beginner readers. The chapters are short and the author really doesn't complicate the story. These books are good for either boy or girl readers. This is also an AR book for anyone who might want to know. I would recommend this book to others.
These are classic easy reader books with 3 chapters of large simple text in a chapter book sized format.
(Think Henry and Mudge Under the Yellow Moon level but with black and white images and larger text in a skinny trade paperback size - looks like a chapter book, reads like a "reader")
I know a lot of early readers in my library who are going to love this series.
6 - Sally Rippin, “Hey Jack! The New Friend” (Richmond, Victoria, Aust: Hardie Grant Egmont, 2012). “'Look!' says Jack. 'There's a puppy following us.'” (p4)
My son sharpened his early reading skills on this series years ago. It was the perfect transition to into chapter books. My 4-year old, having seen her older brother read these, loves them to pieces. Especially this one because she (not so secretly) wishes this would happen to her.
