Presents the evidence of four scandalous incidents that aroused great public interest during the first dozen years of Victoria's reign. c1962: This was a book kept in the library's rare book section. As it says, it covers 4 scandals that happened during Queen Vic's reign and interestingly, I had only really superficially been aware of one of them. So, I found the book really interesting and would recommend it to those of the normal crew that are interested in this particular era of history - and, as a bonus, not a Jack the Ripper story in sight. It seems well researched and the writing style makes it easier enough to read. "The lines he controlled were run with strictest economy, and though this meant reducing safety precautions beyond the danger point, it also increased dividends, so that shareholders were not too concerned with an occasional accident."
