Using practical, firsthand stories that offer helpful, portable takeaways, Pastor Boyd looks at the interweaving of his journey from spiritual orphan to treasured son, offering candid stories and freeing insights for every Christian still longing to come home.
The truth is, many of us as Christians still strive to “fit in” with God even when our Father offers us the identity of beloved daughters and sons. We’ve already been admitted, approved, and accepted—but we aren’t living that way.
In Sons and Daughters, Pastor Boyd looks at the interweaving of God’s grace and our daily lives: How do those who know they are God’s children think, speak, and act differently? How do they function as leaders and friends? How do they walk through pain?
You—and the purposes God has for you—are a cause for celebration, a reason to be both fearless and faithful. Come discover how to live like you belong.
Lots of good thoughts, but some of the chapters seemed to ramble or not fit with the over all theme of the book. I appreciated the author’s openness and transparency.
Good book about understanding how to live as sons and daughters of God. I've read better books about this but this one is good and has some good truth in it. Jack Frost's book Experiencing Father's Embrace has been my favorite in the area of understanding the Father's deep love for us.
Sons & Daughters is essentially a collection of miniature sermons. In each chapter there is an amusing story followed by a takeaway. The overarching theme of the vignettes is that Christians should feel more secure. Because God claimed us, our self-esteem should be fortified by our identity in Him. Its themes are nothing ground-breakingly new, but everyone could bear to be reminded of them from time to time.
I heard Pastor Brady preach this topic at the Desperation Conference at New Life Church a few years ago. It has resonated with me ever since and this book expands on becoming Sons and Daughters to God. It is truly an amazing book! I enjoyed every page!
Great book! It's written more like a series of blog posts. Short chapters with different thoughts. So while it was hard at times when it totally switched tracks, it made it easy to read a little at a time. That's always helpful as a parent. It had a lot of good stuff and I learned a lot. :)
Pastor Brady writes a wonderful book telling of God's pure love for all of us. This book touches on moving from being a spiritual orphan to one of his sons and daughters. A well written book speaking about God's grace, forgiveness and love that passes on understanding.
