This book is about a teacher sharing the special memories she created with her students throughout the year on their last day of school together. She wishes them well on their life endeavors and welcomes them back to visit her at any time. I enjoyed this book and found it to be very sweet. It reminded me of when I was younger and my teacher blew us a good luck kiss to hold on to and use on the first day of school the following year. I could see myself reading this to my students on our last day of school together. I think this story would be best for kindergarten to 3rd grade. This transition is not always easy for students but this book can be used to make the transition a little easier. I would also follow it up with one of my favorite quotes, “don’t cry because it's over, smile because it happened”-Dr.Seuss.
I cried my eyes out as I read this book. Because I felt like this book really was about Miles class. It really fit to what these kids were feeling in this class and knowing that they were all going their own ways. Also I could totally see Miles teacher writing this for his class on the last day of school. I felt that I had to share it with her to her telling me she was going to actually read it to his class on the last day. It's such a cute story and I think all teachers would feel as this teacher in this book feels. I highly recommend it.
I read this book to my kindergarten class and I absolutely loved it! I thought it was such a sweet way to reminisce on all of the memories we've shared together this year. Laughs were had and even a few tears were shed (mostly by me!) The illustrations were beautiful and included a diverse range of children. I would give this book 5 stars and will definitely be ordering the first day of school version so I can read that to my class next year!
Such a great read and this will be a present my K granddaughter and her mom, a K teacher will love celebrating a wonderful school year on the last day of school. With beautiful illustrations (by Sandie Sonke) the rhyming text by Shannon Olsen had me turning the pages, enjoying each and every high and low of the students as they become very special students and friends, ready for the next year of a new teacher and making new memories. Excellent for students, teachers & parents!
Not me getting emotional reading this book. My son’s teacher sent this book home with the kids with a personalized message and it was so heartfelt. Especially if your kid is in SpEd and that relationship grows with the same teacher year after year. It’s going to be so hard to say goodbye as my boy starts his journey to middle school in the Fall.
and missing my kindergarten family!!! I wish I had been able to give this to my kiddoes. Every year I feel like I cannot express to them how much they mean to me and how much they have become a part of my family. This will be my parting gift from now on!!
I meant to order the the author's book on the first day of school but accidentally ordered this one. I liked it. It is good to reflect back on the year. What is teachers wrote a letter to each student? A real letter. Very time consuming I know, but what if? No grades, no judgement, just encouragement. I think this practice might be life-changing.
I absolutely LOVE this author. I read Our Class is a Family in September and my class ran with it! This author knows how to foster love, kindness and friendship in the classroom. What a great way to end the year!
I really enjoyed this book as a read aloud for the class someday. The book reflects back on all the memories, learning and connections that were made throughout the school year as well as telling them how important each of the students are to her.
Very American and isn't written for British schools. Also more for reception or year one. One copy had a double sided a4 page airfryer advert in the middle which ruined the whole book and was just, why add that?
Finding myself and finding my truth of life is amazing to say the least , thank you for the letter for inspiration! Thank you to Jesus for such amazing gifts,I am worthy!
