Razia Butt was an Urdu novelist and playwright from Pakistan. Her novels typically have strong female protagonists, and have been dramatised in movies and television plays.
Amazing book, would recommend every pakistani to read it. It explained why the muslims in india NEEDED a country where they could feel safe and practice their religion without fearing for their loved ones or their own lives. With a beautiful love story interwined with plot of the Novel.
Writing this with heavy heart, tears rolling over my cheeks, hands trembling. This is one of the story that touches my soul. The way razia butt potrays character of bano is unparalleled. All the sacrifices that bano and other girls made during partition,I hope that one day Pakistan become just like what bano thought of it.
Heart-rending. Not possible that you didn't cry while reading it. Thank you Allah SWT for Pakistan, my Pak watan. Thank you my ancestors for your selfless sacrifices. Mothers of this nation, we will make sure inshaAllah that the sacrifices you made for us do not go in vain. Pakistan Zindabad!
Breathtakingly painful story. The tale of partition is laden with countless wounds, sighs, cries, deaths, sacrifices, broken dreams; only to see one wish coming true; a free land. Set in Ludhiana, Bano's story has all these elements, where events of the partition play a central role. This novel was adapted as a TV serial, which was equally gripping.
It is a wonderful novel, really enjoyed reading it.Just finished this marvelous novel by Razia Butt. May Allah help us to follow her message and do efforts at individual and collective levels to make Pakistan prosperous.
This is a masterpiece by Razia Butt. An eye-opener. A very heart-touching must-read novel. It's really important for our generation and the generations to come, who were not there at the time of partition, to know all the sufferings and heart-wrenching calamities that our ancestors went through in order to create a free Muslim country. Especially when the true reason for creating Pakistan had almost diminished and we are taking every bit of it for granted, this book is a great reminder.
