This prequel to Roger Knowles’s ‘The Naked Emperor’ is an hour by hour account of the day during which our hapless hero, Simon Jones, realises that his life must change direction if his sanity is to be preserved.
Starting with an accusation of indecent exposure, Simon’s day goes from bad to worse and includes incidents involving a pram with a faulty spark plug, a tea break conversation involving death by farts, a spectacle wearing monkey, an exploding boob, a fat man in a bad mood, a chip shop fight, the near purchase of a pet alligator and a carnal interlude ruined by a hind leg.
50% of any proceeds from this book will be used to offer understanding, support and advice to the hundreds of thousands of UK Chronic Fatigue Syndrome sufferers via a dedicated support forum. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a widely misunderstood but totally debilitating disease. The Author is a sufferer.
Simon is just an ordinary family man, wife, two children, and a dog called Orph.
This story chronicles one of his days, a day when a combination of farsical work situations and comical family events leads him to question whether he can change his future completely, start a new career perhaps? Having read The Naked Emperor I was looking forward to reading this prequel and I wasn't dissapointed.
What a difference a day makes....
I can recommend this hilarious book as a brilliant read to anyone who just wants to smile for a change.
