For the first time, a Tantric scholar and expert in the Hindu traditions of Ayurveda and astrology presents a system of numerology that combines numerical calculations, astrological data, and an analysis of body type. He illustrates the Vedic Square and the visual patterns that can be derived from it, casting a revealing light on the more esoteric interpretations of numbers and their relationship to one another. Recommendations are given regarding strong and weak periods of day or year, favorable colors and precious stones to be worn, and meditations and mantras to be practiced for health and prosperity. Explains how to determine the psychic number, name number, and destiny number; how these numbers relate to each of the nine planets, and how they apply to every aspect of life--including personality, temperament, intelligence, talents, sexuality, spirituality, finances, travel, and health.
Albeit the expression ‘Numerology’ entered the English lexicon in the early 1900s, the reading of numbers, its significance, and its association with happenings and events in life has been talked about since aeons.
The notion of Numerology is said to have begun from the civilisations in Babylonia and Egypt. The ancients deemed that numbers possessed true powers and that they held within them the the quintessence of the ‘celestial’, the ‘divine’, which led mankind to acquire additional knowhow of thje nitty gritties of the Cosmos – of life and god. Round about this time, as history records, the Chaldean System of Numerology was derived and practised.
There is also sufficient validation to demonstrate that diverse outlines of Numerology were practised not only in Persia but also in China, Rome and Japan.
Through numerology, all the phases of life in an assortment of forms are explored. The student sees how planets act in a different way within diverse people. The study of this science necessitates that one have the attentiveness and directness of an explorer—it also brings with it the delight that follows a triumphant examination.
Having knowledge of the numbers and a good memory can save much energy and time. A keen interest in numerology can work to enhance memory and pointedness; it can also promote the intuitive faculty of the mind.

Apart from the Karmic meaning of each and every simple and compound number, what do we learn from this book?
We learn the following.
Numerology is not a complete science. It is just one branch of the predictive sciences.
To be a good numerologist one must become a good observer and a patient listener. Study of physiognomy and astrology is very necessary.
Numerology is much simpler than astrology and does not require complicated mathematical calculations. There are just three things a numerologist needs to know: the day of the month a person was born, the numerological value of his or her popular name, and the person’s total birth information (date, month, and year).
From astrology, the numerologist needs to know about all the zodiac signs, and a person’s day of birth, sun sign, and moon sign. In India, the season during which a person was born also has to be known, since that has an effect on one’s temperament.
Certain information from physiognomy needs to be learned as well, such as how the shape and form of the various body parts correlate with an individual’s thinking process. (It is known, for example, that the perceptual world of tall people is different from that of short people.)
The purpose of working with numbers is to save energy. People who act without a proper understanding of the right moment to start a job waste a lot of energy by making the wrong moves. Numerology provides the knowledge for such things as how to select the right moment, the right relationship, the right dwelling place—thereby saving energy.
And the author ends with a little warning: Numerology must not be used to achieve power and control over others. Also, money should not be earned with this knowledge. Using one’s mind to discover the persona of others for money alone will result in stress. Through the unselfish use of numerology, one earns good karma.
If you’re fascinated by Astrology and its Karmic consequences, this book is meant for you.
really interesting. i wouldnt live my live based on numerology, but there are truths to be found in it. we can find truth anywhere and everywhere if we look for it with an open mind.
This was a very interesting take on the numerology systems' levels of difference from Eastern to Western with Vedic as the theme. I did enjoy playing around with calculations and incorporating metals, gems, and more clarity from the meaning of numbers and placements within this book. I try to actually give all models a try to see what I can learn from the toolbox given. This one was intriguing when comparing your western numbers. It seemed to reveal a gap that is missing from western numerology...
That gap, for me, was in fact believing that other systems could be wrong. I had a limiting belief, and I feel I shed a new skin as I try more variations and integrate them with my living. It's a beautiful thing to change perspective and use everything we learn as building blocks of us. It's a fun book to mess with numbers with family and friends, too.
A few years ago, I used to read using this book as a tool. It helped people look at things...I feel...
So it deserves 5 stars! I won't stop using it as a milestone post.
This was pretty interesting. Regarding my psychic number:
"They are easily satisfied, which makes them work less and gives them more time to dwell in the world of imagination. This makes them less practical." Well damn if that ain't true!
"The number 2 is ruled by the Moon, which gives its natives tenderness, artistic inclinations, and a romantic nature. They are peaceful and gentle. Their imaginative nature makes them inventive, but they lack determination and cannot execute their ideas." Hmm. Okay well... yeah.
"Although they accept their mistakes easily and feel regret, they never change their behaviour nor ever improve. They commit the same mistakes again and again, and suffer. They do not much like logic and criticism."
I read this book in 1997, when the internet was in its infancy. If one was interested in something, one visited a library. There weren't many libraries in my city & I was as yet only a teenager. Luckily, a relative indulged my curiosity and bought me this book.
As far as books in this category go, this one is fairly well-written. Many others I read later, appeared to be either poor translations from Indian languages or steeped in religious messaging. This one does have some Hinduism references but it doesn't go too deeply into religion. It's a fairly good starting point to understand the role of numbers in astrology.
Great book however, if you have a very active mind, this book can kind of make you go insane. After reading this book. Every number I saw, I tried to tie it to something every double digit triple digit number I tried to add to get to a single number in order to read it, be careful when reading this book. It’s amazing. It takes mental strength.
Keeping this book for my library. This is not an easy to read but if you already have the basics of numerology, this is a great add on. It talks about the good years, the bad years, health, relationships, etc., related to your number. Would definitely recommend for those who are serious about the study of numerology.
Borrowed this one from the library and plan to add it to my wishlist. Highly informative and I found the information about my numbers to be frighteningly spot on.
According to my teacher John Marchand, one of Johari's students, this books has been written to Indian culture, not the West. Don't take things literally. The Gemstone book is more hulpfull as guide.
