This is an amazingly beautiful book, aesthetically. Soft-bound and almost pocket-size. It gives me pleasure to merely hold it. It was a gift from my Mother and Step-Father when I was in high school. It is the French version of the Christian Bible. I wasn't able to read it in high school, but have started recently and it is quite the endeavor. I am mostly appalled by the content. It all seems so new and unexpected, when read in a language I've never read it in before - even though I know I've heard all the stories before. It's raw and disturbing, but I hope to complete the journey. It's an educational endeavor for me.
I finished Genesis by the end of January, 2010, I started Exode (The story of the Exodus)in April, and I finished Levitique this January. I'm currently reading in Nombres. (March 2011) Moving slow as I don't read it every day.
Truth be told, read most of this in the Parole de Vie version. I like the Louis Segond a little more. Parole is a little to NIV for my taste. But Louis has some weight to it.
