Emma, Elmify on Youtube, wrote this novel when she was 15, back in 2004. In April, 2012, she stumbled upon the file on her family's computer and decided to make it an ebook for anyone who might want to read it.
A Fool's Paradise is inspired by the character of Peter Pan. The idea originated from the thought of what would happen if Peter-like character lived in our modern society.
The book has two narrators, a boy and a girl. Alison has recently suffered a family crisis and is now starting at a new school. She is feeling very lost when she meets North, a high school boy who is kind of an expert at collecting people. It is the story of how two young characters shape each other's lives
Emma Mills is the author of several novels for Young Adults.
She holds a PhD in cell biology and is known for her YouTube channel, Elmify. She is also the co-creator and co-host of the "life skills" channel How to Adult, which ended in 2016.
For a 15yr old girl writing this, this is fantastic. It takes on another easy reading approach, the outcomes are predictable and the characters are 'cool to be different' teenagers. That aside I was impressed, the way she has worked the idea of peter pan into the main character and made to understand the emotions, kept some secrets which made to want to read on just to find out what happened. It's only $3, I would say it would be worth your spare change if only to form your own opinion.
A cute book, there's not a whole lot to say. A little on the predictable side, a little on the clumsy side, but it does made up for all that with a lot of charm
