This was a very short read, but it features two oh so sexy men who have it bad for each other. Joshua is a man who is dominant. He knows who he is, he knows what he wants and how he wants it and he makes no apologies or excuses about this either. Then we have Kai, who is adamant that he is all about the vanilla lifestyle and that he’s sure that this lifestyle is who and what he is. Unlike Joshua, Kai is shy and uncertain about what he likes in the bedroom. He doesn’t want to like the BDSM lifestyle and wants no part of that lifestyle. Then he meets Joshua who changes all the rules on him and that’s when things heat up between these two crazy kids. I know that I’m paraphrasing what was in the blurb, but I wanted to reiterate the blurb so that the rest of my review makes sense.

Even though this was a short story I still felt satisfied with the story content and how it ended. I’ve read other short stories where I’ve felt that the story didn’t delve too deeply into the meat of the story and I felt almost as if I was gypped somehow and the story left me wanting more. I didn’t feel this way with this story. I felt that I had a good understanding of the back story of the two main characters and I felt that what happens after the author reveals the back story, that the it made sense and I got enough to feel happy.

I really liked these two men. I liked Joshua because, he’s so masculine and alpha and sexy. I also liked it when he revealed his more vulnerable side to the reader and I liked that he wasn’t as infallible as he appeared. That to me makes the story when the author reveals how soft on the inside the alpha is even when he doesn’t want to be revealed. OH, so good! I liked Kai because he knew what he wanted but he didn’t know how to get what he wanted. The reason why I liked this quality is because he represents most of us. Who doesn’t want something but are afraid to want it because we’re afraid of what other people will think or, because are upbringing teaches us that that desire or want is not “right”, or “good”. We can’t all be alpha bad asses, but we can all grow and learn and decide what’s right for themselves and try and not worry about what the rest of the world is thinking and feeling. I also liked Kai because he’s also sexy and masculine in his own way.

This story also features some secondary characters that are entertaining in their own right and deserve a brief comment on. The one secondary character that I would like to expound on is Patrick who is Kai’s best friend. He’s Kai’s voice of reason and helps him make some pretty serious decisions. He was a pretty cool guy, he was also funny too.

I have to say this was a pretty decent read and if you don’t have a lot of time to read, this is something that should be at least looked at, so give it a shot.

A story about missed chances and making up for’ cowardice in the past’, as much as about two men figuring out how to make things work, this story is also very hot – once Kai and Joshua do figure out how to make things work. Interestingly, in that sense, both men ‘submit’ to what they want most.

Over a year ago Kai ran away form an offer he should never have refused – and has regretted it ever since. It takes one of his friends to kick him into action though and Kai never stops doubting himself. Until he actually faces Joshua – and even then it takes him a while to face the truth. He is afraid of what he wants and needs and that fear will take a while to conquer.

Joshua has suffered for a whole year and cannot believe his luck when Kai finally turns up. He takes full advantage of the situation, and what follows is an extremely hot encounter. Not that it solves all their issues – but it certainly helps them on the way. Joshua is determined to take full advantage.

If you enjoy a glimpse into two men’s lives to find out how they begin to work out how to be together, and if you like reading about slightly kinky encounters, you might enjoy this story.
