He learns about decorations, songs, symbols, and how important the sun and its warmth really are. Join Rupert as he meets a new fairy friend and lots of girls and boys. Find out how someone very special steals Rupert's heart! Perfect for teaching sacred Pagan practices and beliefs to young children being raised within varied traditions. Enjoyable and educational since I do not know much about the Pagan year. It's easier for me to grasp concepts first through children's books then move on from there. I enjoyed the rhyming. I did not know this was a second...sequel?... to a first book about Rupert's Tales. It refers to Mabon, but doesn't exactly say what happened so I'm guessing that is from the previous Tale.

Same review as for the Beltane-Mabon book:

This book is useful in that it explains the meanings and lore of the sabbats, in a way that is understandable to kids. Having a bunny is also a bonus. However the stories are not that engaging for my 7 year old, and the verse is a bit cumbersome. She struggles to listen to the stories, and some we left unfinished.

The Samhain chapter in this book is excellent, and actually brought a tear to my eye. The gentle teaching about spirit communication is a wonderful and rare blessing in this story. I'm passionate about kids learning spirit communication because, otherwise, who will talk to me after I am gone! At any rate, my two year old daughter is a huge fan and now she brings me this book specifically asking to hear about Samhain.

I absolutely love this book. My 3-year-old doesn't quite understand what we're talking about yet, but this is a wonderful book for getting children to ask questions, and hear basic Pagan ideas and vocabulary. We love all the Rupert's Tales books and hope to collect them all.
