I started flipping through this looking for inspiration, found it, went back and started reading it properly.
If you've read / de-cluttered a bit already, the good stuff is in Part 1 - Masterclasses. Part 2 has room by room examples, and I went back to skim reading this section because so much of it is just not applicable to me.
The gold in Part 1 will help you set up systems to stay clutter free and make it all work long term. Who wants to keep de-cluttering? I cherry picked a lot of good ideas.
Some good advice and suggestions on how to get organized at home, room by room. Very practical too. For example, when it comes to organizing magazines, Bennie suggests leaving the latest issues on the coffee table (while storing backlogged issues in a secondary storage space), so that the newer issues will not be forgotten. In that aspect, her tips fit squarely into daily life as well. I wasn't a fan of the formatting of the book though. The endless checklists aren't necessarily applicable to everyone, especially those who live in apartments rather than houses with a room for everything in the house.
I have really enjoyed the ideas in the different sections of this book. Have re-sorted my pantry and re-arranged a few different areas of my home. This book can be picked up at any point to tackle any area of a home. Or as inspiration for trouble spots in a home. Marianne Bennie has come up with another great organising reference I will be keeping close at hand!
ROCK OUT. Practical, room by room, encouraging, not judgemental but firm.
Now to magically ge tthe time to implement her advice, even if it supposedly can be done in 8 minute bursts, eventually you need whole days to do whole rooms.
