I have a confession to make: I am totally unable to read poetry, unless it's aloud. It took me forever to work through this book because I had to find time to read it aloud at home. With that out of the way, the book itself was good. One would expect that a musician/songwriter would excel at poetry; however, it was the prose that really stood out in this piece. The story about the man out for vengeance in Vegas, as well as the story of his son's birth are incredibly enjoyable. And imagine my joy when William Control devoted a large part of his "God is Dead" essay toward plugging the Freedom from Religion Foundation (of which I've been a member for years). This is a good read for more than just fans. Check it out if you can get your hand on a copy of it.
I read the whole thing the day I got it in the mail. It's very easy to understand why he wrote it under his William Control moniker, rather than by his own name. His poems tell dark stories that would fit perfectly into any song he has written. If you're a fan of William Control's music, please do yourself a favor and read this book.
