Heale and Riena have confessed their feelings for each other, but life isn’t about to give them a break—they are interrupted by the arrival of a pirate ship! Orc pirates are the newest additions to Sheol’s community, but there’s friction between them and the goblins. Heale hopes to bridge the rift between the two races, but he understands that some things can’t be rushed. Instead, he focuses on what he can do—deciding the island’s next big construction project! Sheol has developed so much that all the residents can live a comfortable life, so Heale sets his sights on trade. But the most experienced sailors, the orcs, are reluctant to leave land—they’ve been traumatized by their encounter with a monster on the ocean. Furthermore, new discoveries underground and some increasingly powerful invaders throw a wrench into Heale’s plans. It’s an uphill battle, but Heale’s trusty comrades will support him every step of the way!
To start, I love city building and all the fun things that entails which this series has done a good job on. Frankly that’s the only reason I have stuck with it. Doing it from the perspective of island expansion, lighthouse/towers, ship building, etc. was well done and interesting. This is the only reason I am not giving the story a 1* rating.
As a whole this series side-tracked super fast. The original book had very little to do about caving and this one somehow had even less. The MC’s crest is “Cave King”, but the only things he does with it is mine and inventory stuff that he mined. That’s it?!? Of all the directions and cool ways you could go with that, that’s all?! Bleh. I’m done.
I was on the edge of my seat from the plot twists, the battles were intense. I laughed a lot, his island is coming together pretty nicely, I was really happy with how you ended the book looking forward to the next one
