When a kindly neighbor gave the boys some money to spend, they went straight to the bakery to buy some gingerbread―and they fell into the batter! Now Snipp, Snapp, and Snurr looked just like three gingerbread boys who had come to life. A beautiful princess picked them up in her coach and took them to her palace for a party. When the party was over, Mother knew just what to do with her children.
Maj Lindman (Mrs. Maj Lindman-Hulten) lived in Stockholm, Sweden. She attended the Royal Academy of Arts in Stockholm, and also studied art in Paris, France. She wrote and illustrated numerous children's books, but she is best known for her delightful tales of triplet girls Flicka, Dicka and Ricka and their boy counterparts, Snipp, Snapp and Snurr.
2018: This book took my three-year-old's fascination with the Gingerbread Man to the next level!
2010: This 1932 book is one of the most charming stories I have had the pleasure to read. Snipp, Snapp, and Snurr, three identical boys, visit the baker and fall into his vat of gingerbread batter. Then they run around town as gingerbread boys!
As a child, I loved this series and checked out the books many times. I don't remember reading this one, but I'm sure I would have enjoyed it -- it's fun and original. (But shouldn't the boys have apologized to the baker?)
My copy is a modern reprint; the colors in the early editions are much richer.

This was a very cute book! After reading this book, I was craving some fresh baked, gingerbread cookies! Yum! I loved that this story turned out differently then I was expecting. I was expecting the three little boys to bake some gingerbread, not to turn into little gingerbread boys. I loved following along on the journey the three little boys took! I would definitely read this book again!
This book evolved into decorating gingerbread cookies after reading the story. Their curiosity was peaked while reading the story and I found a mom who was a cookie decorator. The kids had a blast decorating the cookies and then, of course, eating them!
Favorite childhood story. I just bought a copy to give as a gift and couldn't resist rereading. Timeless picture book that young children should enjoy.
