I have enjoyed all the books by Lauren Fraser I have read, and this one was no exception. The spicy scenes were hot. There was enough emotional angst to make me invested in the characters and in their romance so it was not just an erotic novella. My only criticism is that the story ended rather abruptly with no proper resolution for the characters. Would Kat stay on at the ranch or would they have a long distance relationship? A quick, fun and spicy read.

I love a good Western Romance, especially when it delivers on the steamy sex and Rode Hard did just that. My only complaint…..I wanted more.
City slicker girl, cowboy- rancher- rodeo star-playboy guy made for the perfect match in this hotter than the Arizona sun short story by Lauren Fraser. Kat is lucky enough to spend six weeks on a ranch in order to write an article for her job where she works as a sports writer. When she arrives to meet the co-owner of the ranch where she’ll be staying, a local bull riding competition is taking place and Kat is immediately drawn to the sex on a stick, Justin. The feeling is mutual as Justin sets out to have Kat’s long legs wrapped around him before the night is over.
One of the things I particularly enjoyed about this book is it didn’t feel rushed which is hard to do in my opinion when the story is short. They do come together rather fast, but when sparks fly it’s hard to ignore, right? We’ve got a strong heroine who knows what she wants and an equally strong hero who is persistent enough to not take NO for an answer. This is not a HEA but a HFN which only makes it seem more believable.
The writing and story were good with great, likable characters and plenty of hotter than hot sex that make for a great, fast read. There are plenty of supporting characters and I’m keeping my fingers crossed it turns into a series. Ms. Fraser was a new to me author and more than proves she can write a HOT book with a great story, and I can’t wait to read more of her.
Treat yourself with this one, I know I did.

This one was entirely Amanda's fault. Sometimes, a 99 cent sale and a gift card don't always mix for the better. On one hand it was a v quick read and had some decent steam. But on the other overwhelmingly larger hand, the 2016-ness of it all added up to a lot more that didn't work for me than what little did.
CW for slut shaming (all other female characters besides the FMC and MMC's sister are unnamed and worth only scorn for their shameless chasing the rodeo participants for sex), unchallenged casual misogyny (the MMC makes multiple comments about how women love to talk things to death), non-consensual voyeurism, and way too much no-homo-bro homophobia from the MMC despite his history of many a menage dates with his two best friends (they can all fuck the same woman at the same time just so long as no dude lays hands on him... well what do you expect from a guy named Justin??).

Damn, this was hot!
Justin and Kat had great chemistry and there were plenty of steamy scenes that highlighted their compatibility! And the addition of Duncan and Kasey were honestly... yum. I liked that there was some honest conversation between the characters, though I also wish there was a little plot to it too. It didn't feel rushed, but I think things could've gotten deeper, especially with how Justin and Denise built up the ranch. But hey, this was a fun, sexy read and I will be looking for the next ones in this series!

This is the first time that I have read a book of this genre and it was enjoyable. Kat is assigned to write about life on a ranch and is instantly attracted to the ranch owner, Justin (plus another few cowboys as well - you get the picture). Although the storyline wasn't extremely strong, it certainly made up for this with its steamy scenes. A good, quick read. I received a free copy of this book and have voluntarily left this review.

Likable characters... Tons of steam... A little bit of drama... And a jealous, over-bearing cowboy. Kat has the chance to live out a fantasy, if she and Justin can survive it. Overall, I liked the book. I was a little disappointed, because I honestly expected Kat to end up with Justin, Duncan, and Kasey at the beginning. But all in all, I was still happy to see her with Justin, and how things wrapped up for them.

This book was filled with lots of steamy scenes. It could have used a little bit more in its storyline but if your looking something spicy to read than this is it. It’s a good quick read.

I definitely liked this hot cowboy ménage story. Justin and Kat were hot together. Throw in an extra pair of cowboys (being Duncan and Kasey) and it gets really steamy.
Kat is on an assignment, writing about working on a ranch. Justin is a rancher/rodeo cowboy and a one-night-stand kinda guy. So it’s a good thing this is all temporary, right? After a while, both Justin and Kat realize it’s going to be something more than what they expected.

This here story is quite the tale. It was a fast paced, entertaining read with scorching hot scenes that featured cowboys so sexy they made me want to trade in my suburban lifestyle for some ranch living.
Kat McCray’s character was adventurous and willing to embrace life and new things. Kat is especially lucky that those things come in such delicious packaging. This is a wonderful fantasy for many people and living vicariously through characters like Kat is exactly why I read. Situations like this do not really happen to people like me so this is such a guilty pleasure.
Justin is a man living his life by his own rules. I loved watching him figure out that even when you know exactly what you want sometimes the people you meet in life make you reevaluate what you want. The men who say they never want to settle down are the ones who seem to fall the hardest. They are usually the ones who are the most entertaining to watch fall.
His friends Duncan and Kasey are also wonderful guys and they are willing to help Justin out around the ranch doing whatever is needed. They are also his closest friends and they have been known to share women on occasion some of these occasions get very, very steamy. So be prepared to fan yourself.
It was such a joy to find that this book contained very strong characters who took responsibility for themselves and their actions. I find it frustrating when I find myself reading and one of the characters keeps blaming someone else or repeating that this is not how they normally act. It was also wonderful that there were no weak characters and not a lot of time wasted on tons of lies and deceit.
Overall I would recommend this to anyone who loves cowboys and hot steamy love scenes. My only warning is that there are some M/M interactions.

While this one was short on story/plot it was filled with lots of hot sex. I did like the conversation that Justin and Kat had about what did and didn't work when they invited friends to join them in bed.

This was hard to decide on a star rating for as it was good in terms of the dynamics and interactions including discussions, consent & safety but it was lacking in backstory and plot.
