My Rick and Madison:

3.5 STARS! Great villain, lovable side characters and amazing main duo - that is It's Not Over. Steamy romance story full of drama and entertaining banters!

Rick and Madison. He is egoistical and overconfident. She is clossed-off man-eater. What started as convenient partnership, got out of hand once feelings were involved. Can these two extremely complicated and stubborn characters save their friendship and develop real relationship?

Let's face it, we have these two crazy characters whose foundations of their relationship is more than untraditional. There was nothing romantic about the way they met, nothing sweet about their interactions. Yet, they persuade me pretty quickly to be on their side and to root for them since beginning.

I absolutely loved the change of overused formula when in comes to contemporary romance. Hero and heroine meet, fall in love, something keeps them apart and than HEA. It's Not Over is different. Maddy and Rick practically hate each other, drive each other crazy, still they develop feelings for each other. They are perfect for each other! She likes his temper and playful attitude and he loves the fact that she constantly challenges him and never put up with his crappy behaviour.

It's Not Over is very challenging book. I mean, in previous book, Rick was fun character but complete asshole. So I was extremely curious if author would be able to make me really like him in this story. And she did! Rick may be an ass, but a very charming one. Chapters written in his POV were engaging, reading his thoughts and banters with others was captivating. He is truly the most interesting character created by A.L. Zaun and I would recommend to read this book just because of him.

However, this book mainly focuses on Madison and her story. Yes, Rick plays more than important role but it is her family, business and past that takes the lead plotwise. Good thing is, that It's Not Over may be read on its own. Reading The Do Over is recommended but definitely not essential to understand events in this book.

I really enjoyed this story and I am already looking forward to spending more time with Rick and Maddy in the future!

I hadn't read the first book because I'm not really into angsty love triangles . This book though was awesome . Rick *new book boyfriend alert* is arrogant , cocky , funny , sweet , sexy , smart....yeah deadly mix right ??

I cannot begin to express how much I liked that Madison had self respect and DID NOT fall at Rick's or for that matter anyone's feet . Sometimes it would be on the border of too much . But you don't get to see strong protagonists often . My only regret about not reading the first book is that I didn't get to see more of Madison and Rick . But we are shown a few glimpses of their life together earlier so I was fine with it .

And we see a damaged heroine here rather than the hero which is the case in most of the books nowadays . Which too is a refreshing change by the way . The story flowed smoothly . And I fell in love with the characters [ Rick especially ;) ]

This one was a no nonsense book . No supposed misunderstandings , no unnecessary angst or drama . Both Madison and Rick made mistakes but they talked it out and solved their problems . The only complaint I have is

So well , long story short READ THE BOOK . ITS WORTH IT !!

“I’m not the same man that you first met. I’ve made some really shitty choices, but my intentions were in the right place. I’m going to prove it to you and Daniela that I’m that man, the better one. You’ll see” ~ Rick

It’s Not Over is the story of Rick Marin and Madison Stuart which picks up right where they left off in The Do Over ~ Daniela and Liam’s story. Let me start off by saying I absolutely hated Rick, actually that is an understatement, I down right despised him in The Do Over. Although after the turn of events at the end of TDO, I found myself very interested to reading Rick and Maddy’s story.

Right from the very start of this book Rick definitely was not the same man that I met in TDO, he had become a better man. Rick deep down will always be Rick but there is just something about Maddy that makes him be a better man, a man I thought I actually found myself warming up to.

”Maddy, I am not used to this personality of yours. I thought I’d met all of them, but I was wrong,” ~ Rick

In TDO we met Maddison, who was strong, cold and a bit of heartless bitch. But like Rick in this book, we start to see the real Maddy. She’s still the “Don’t Mess with me Bitch” but we also get to see her slowly let her walls down and let Rick in. We get to learn more about her and her past, which for me really help to explain why Maddison is the way she is and made me see that she is a really great person and not a bitch at all, she’s cold and keeps people out to protect herself from any further hurt.

”You drive me fucking insane. But I’ll take a day of crazy with you over a lifetime of sanity without you” ~ Rick

These two are very focused and controlling people, and at times they struggle to give up any control to the other person. They are messed up, but they are real. I loved watching the relationship between them evolve but also loved seeing they themselves evolve together. They started out with Maddy helping Rick be a better man to win back Daniela but from that they formed a really great friendship grew which eventually grew into so much more but can these two stubborn people put there personalities aside to be happy together. Can Maddy truly let her walls down and let Rick into her heart?

”I have what she wants. At the end of the day, I always win.” ~ Alex

On top of their own struggles of figuring out how to make their relationship work, Rick and Maddy must also learn to make it work with the forces that are working against them, their families and Alex. I loved getting to see Rick with his Mom and his sisters and Maddy with her Grandfather, it shows a different side of the characters and really added to the story. And like any good moles in a story, they will test them and at times force them to make choices they don’t want to have to make.

Maddy, you have no fucking idea how turned on I get when you pull out your bad-ass attitude” ~Rick

I loved the chemistry in this story between Rick and Maddy, it was hot and sexy. I also loved that they were friends first, lovers second. When things got hard and ugly, the stuck it out,t they fought it out, there was no running away or the normal back and forth happening between them, which was so nice as that stuff gets really tiring and is way overdone. Rick and Maddy along with their relationship is such a fresh story, it’s real and at times it’s raw and I seriously loved that.

”I won’t let you fall, and if you do, I’ll catch you or die trying” ~ Rick

I absolutely loved this book, definitely a 5 star read for me! My feelings in this book towards Rick and Maddy both, have completely taken a 180 degree turn. Maddy and Rick are so messed up, they are stubborn and controlling but they are completely perfect for each other and are such amazing and Real characters you can’t help but love them. I cannot wait to see what happens with these two and where the author will take their story, especially after that ending, I so did not see that coming, and OMG the wait to find out it is going to kill me!

Before starting It’s Not Over – to get the full background story of Rick and Madison I encourage you to read The Do Over. With that being said let’s start this shit!!!

Okay so like most I HATED Rick going into this story. Like serious hatred that ran deep. If he was on fire I would probably continue walking without throwing water on him – hated. When I heard the name Rick Marin I was like….

However, with that being said I went into this with an open mind hoping and praying that Rick “asshat” would redeem himself. And redeem himself he did. I think I fell in love with him around 16% in because even though he is arrogant, annoying, controlling, bossy, and demanding he was 100% Rick – he was who he was and take him or leave him he didn’t change for anyone. He hides his softer side very well and doesn’t show his emotions very easy but when he did I decided that I loved all those things about him because that made him real. So whereas I was all but barfing before I started It’s Not Over from 16% and beyond I was all but…

“Why the fuck do you think I’m here? Let’s see…because that’s exactly what you wanted. You’ve conditioned me to become your little lap dog. Maybe I can jump in your purse, and you can tote me around like the pussy that I’ve become.”

Madison and Rick we probably one of the funniest couples to read about – their banter had be cracking up from page one because they were both such strong characters they butt heads more times than not. Madison is a strong independent woman who is stubborn and at times has control issues and Rick is the same way so you can only image what those two are like when they are in the same room together and don’t agree on something. Rick would probably claim that Madison is…

“But I’ll take a day of crazy with you over a lifetime of sanity without you.”

And in return just in Madison style she would always remind Rick exactly what he is….

“You never cease to amaze me. Just when I thought you were the biggest asshole I’d ever known, you open your mouth and elevate yourself to a new stratosphere.”

But between the yelling and fighting, they can’t deny their chemistry with each other. Ana wrote a couple with such a unique chemistry I was entranced in this story. I couldn’t put the book down. They fight, they yell, they kiss and make up, than fight some more. They are giving and taking, pulling and pushing but they get each other. They know they aren’t perfect, but somehow they are perfect for each other.

Between the laughs, grunts, and groans there were also the scenes that melted my panties and warmed my heart. Angry sex is always the best and Rick and Madison couldn’t have done it any better. There were feelings there, obviously, but what kept Madison from fully handing her heart over to Rick was not only her sex only, no string attached lifestyle but also because Rick was a liar and a manipulator and she just didn’t think she could risk having her heart broken by him.

Rick on the other hand knew exactly what he wanted but wasn’t sure he could trust Madison not to run away from him. He knew his past but that didn’t mean it had to be his future. He wanted all of Madison. He wanted to hold her and protect her, he wanted to love all of her, she was a pain in the ass but she was his pain the ass and he wanted more.

“You give me your secrets and your pussy. Newsflash…” He slipped his feet into his shoes and grabbed his phone and keys. “You can keep them. What I want is your heart.”

Will Madison learn to let go and let someone take care of her, love her? Will Rick be able to prove to Madison that he isn’t the same man she once knew? Or will their pasts continue to follow them and end whatever future they could have together?

Review Wrap Up!

Okay characters = LOVED THEM
Storyline = LOVED IT
Banter between Madison and Rick = OFF THE CHARTS LOVED IT

An Arc was given for a honest review.
I SAID IT COULDN'T BE DONE. Well I was so wrong.I AM A OFFICIALLY HERE TO SAY I LOVE RICK MARIN. If you have read The Do Over you'll know what I'm talking about. In The Do Over we are introduced to Rick Marin. let me tell you I HATED him with a passion. I believe my first thought was I would love to castrate this mother**cker . I had never met a more arrogant self centers as*hole in all my life. Then there's Madison Stuart and in The Do Over your not to fond of her either. She manipulative and makes bad choices. Her loyalties are with her friend she just hurts people along the way. Ok now that you remember who they are and that we don't like them let me tell you about It's Not Over.
I stand here a reformed Rick hater. He's still Rick in every way. He now just has his sights on something to accomplish. Something to put his passion an desire towards other than himself. He's fiercely protective. He's driven to win. He has passion in his heart and desire in his soul. It's all focused on Madison Stuart and he's determined to win at all cost. She challenges him. She makes him a better man. She makes him want more. I am also a true fan of Madison's hearing her story and her past broke my heart. I completely understand why she's Madison Fu*king Stuart and is always on the defensive. She's always in take no prisoners mode. She's a Grade A bi**h. Well except when she with Rick. He's broken through those walls and it scares her. She had goals, dreams and aspirations. Rick has blown that all out of the water. She's wants him. She wants to love him. She wants to be whole.

Don't worry in true A.L. Zaun fashion she gives us some other villains to focus our hate on. Alex Santana is the worst when you meet him you will know exactly what I'm talking about.
I'm looking forward to the next part if this story I want more no wait I NEED more.
This is a crazy ride of redemption and healing. I'm prying for these two I really am. They deserve a HEA more then any broken couple I've ever met.

Oh and P.S. Your going to meet the cutest funniest little guy ever. Gabe, Rick's nephew they have a conversation that will have you cracking up.

It took me awhile to write this review so.... I don't remember much, sorry :(

I like Rick in book 1 and now? I love him! I totally love this novel from the start...though the ending....it was totally unexpected..I didn't read the ending before I started reading the novel coz i'm pretty sure that it's a 1-book-novel just like THE DO OVER!

I love both main characters! they're really interesting and this is a page-turner book and really worth it!

There's book 3!! god! I didn't expect this to be a cliffie!

You know an author knows how to write when she takes a character who most readers hated in The Do Over and makes him the hero in Book 2, It's Not Over, and it not only works, but in a kind of warped way, Rick even outshines Liam. I know...I know...can I really be saying this? How can I take an asshole douchebag over a hot firefighter with a heart of gold? There's just something about an alpha male who knows he's an ass and owns it. Rick never makes excuses for his actions...he is who he is and if people don't like him so be it. Yea, he messed up with Dani...he almost colossally fucked up four lives in his quest to win Dani back, but he finally figured out where he needed to be and took the steps to be there. The path was filled with a whole lot of bullshit and douchery, but for the first time in his life, he finally ran after a woman...the one he knew fit him completely - Madison.

I didn't know what to think about Madison for much of Book 1. She pretty much had Rick figured out from day one. She called him on his shit and schooled him in all of his assholery. I always wondered what was in it for her...why did she take Rick on as her project...what did she gain from it? I knew there was more to Madison's story, and when readers get it in It's Not Over, it definitely clears up some of the confusion. Madison has been burned by love before, which is why she keeps everyone at a distance. She uses men to meet her needs and then discards them...no one gets close...she's in control at all times, and if someone tries to break through the titanium, they're going to have to work like hell to do so. But Rick does, or at least it seems like he does, but even as her wall goes down, she tries to push him away because she's still keeping secrets...secrets that could change Rick's mind about the woman he loves.

Rick and Madison's relationship is an atypical one. They are two passionate people who know how to get under each other's skin...in fact, they are so far embedded that they both could symbolize the tick that Madison talks about. They challenge each other...they demand more from each other than they have ever given to anyone else. Usually opposites attract, but Rick and Madison are so much like one another that they work because they're each other's other half. Now if all of the bullshit that surrounds their lives would leave them alone perhaps they could get on with their lives together, but readers know it's never that easy.

The title of the book, It's Not Over, definitely has multiple meanings for the two main characters. While it definitely relates to Rick and Maddy's relationship; its significance seems to apply more so to Madison's past with her family, her ex-boyfriend, her friend with benefits, and her role in the family's business. It will be interesting to see how all of these issues play out in Book 3, Let It Go.

If you like books told in dual points of view by a bitchy, tell it like it is heroine and a cocky asshat who swears like a sailor and owns who he is then you definitely need to pick up this book. It's a sexy and witty read that breaks away from how your normal romance novel plays out. There's nothing typical about this text and that's why I loved it!

Rick Marin was a total douche! Until he met Madison Stuart.

In The Do Over Rick was manipulating, sly and selfish, but once he realises what he wants from life he's a changed man and he redeems himself. Not necessarily with his past but definitely his future. I bloody loved this Rick!

"Hold on to me," he said, nipping my ear." I won't let you fall, and if you do I'll catch you or die trying."

Madison was a self sufficient independent woman, she was detached and never let her guard down. Her one night hook~up's meant NO GAIN, NO PAIN!

Madison had multiple personalities. She could play anyone at any game, she had the ability to keep going and was determined. I liked her in the last book , I loved her in this one. Madison wasn't whiny, she never hid in a corner, she had a history she wasn't proud of but she put on her big girls knickers and pulled them up to her chest. There was so much dialogue going on just between Rick and Madison that I thought I may get bored, but no way in hell did I. It just kept getting more and more interesting, pulling me in deeper and deeper. I could listen to them banter all day and night.

" Hurt me, and cutting off your dick will be the least of your problems. I'll fucking hunt you down, make you cry like a little girl, and have you wish for a quick and painless death."

We get to meet their families and get a feel of their background history. I loved Mark and his relationship with Maddy, he was a sweetheart. Rick's sisters were another matter. They were exactly how I would picture them, their cackling was superb to listen to. They had me laughing out loud and their bitchiness was so realistic and true to life.

The sex scenes are hot and you will definitely feel that tingle, but what I enjoyed immensely was the foreplay! They never stopped talking, they argued and played hard to get. In my opinion these were some of the best lead up to sex scenes I've read., purely and simply because they made me smile with their innuendos and their constant bickering and fight for dominance. It may not be all hearts and flowers but this wasn't a hearts and flowers relationship. They were made for each other.

A.L. Zaun is now one of my literary heroes! Her writing style suits me to a tee, I can hear her words as they speak to me, they definitely drowned the noise out of anything else surrounding me while I was reading this. I thought I gave good banter but I'm asking for coaching lessons from this lady right now.

Ana!!! What have you done?

Rick Marine you cocky bastard you! ….Ok let me start out by saying I loved and hated Rick in The Do Over. Stating that, if you have yet to read The Do Over I suggest you do before reading It’s not Over, that way you can be acquainted to Rick and Madison. Yes, they both start out in Book one The Do Over and even though they are people you want to hate you can’t help love them, especially Rick.

I really don’t want to get into the plot, meaning I dare not to give anything away. What I’m going to tell you is that Rick and Maddie show us a side of them that will surprise you (if you’ve read The Do Over) Learning so much from these characters and their families was eye-opening to understand where they where coming from and how that affected them as a person.

I loved watching the growth Rick’s character made once he realized what he really wanted (Maddy.) There were times I got really annoyed at Maddy and wanted to yell at her to stop with her hot and cold attitude towards Rick.

In this book the heroine is the one who is broken and carrying around a past, which frankly makes her the way she is. Guarded and broken. I did like that our heroine wasn’t perfect and our hero was a cocky, sexy a-hole with a heart.

The banter between Maddy and Rick is entertaining and sometimes frustrating. As they both love control. But at then end of the day when things get tough they talk it out, fight it out, but eventually work it out. That is something refreshing to see. Not the same old same old whinny drama.

The connection these two characters have is electrifying, hot and sexy. And their relationship isn’t what you would expect from a romance. Nope. Two alpha hot heads. But it works!

The writing flows perfectly, enticing you to keep turning the pages. The story is grasping and addicting to the point you can’t keep your eyes off of the book because you just need to know how things will end.

And then comes the cliffhanger!

Ummmm…. book 3 you better get here SOOOOOONNNN!!!

GREAT READ!!!

It's Not Over is Book 2 in this series. You meet Rick and Maddy in The Do Over when Maddy helps win his ex Daniella back but she really falls for him.

Its starts out where book 1 ends when Maddy leaves town and Rick realizes that he's not in love with Daniella and wants to be with Maddy. I absolutely despised Rick in Book 1 because of what he did, so going into this I had no idea what to expect from him. Well, he has totally won me over! He is definitely an asshole but that's just who he is and Maddy takes him how he is. Their connection has been unstoppable from the very beginning and it just builds and builds.

Rick and Maddy isn't your typical lovey dovey couple. It's takes getting used to their personalities because well, I can't really describe it perfectly like the book can. Maddy has a dark past and nobody knows the true her and has built a wall up guarding her heart. I just fell absolutely in love with this story and everything you learn about Maddy's past and watching Rick battle his way into her heart. I wanted to scream and throw stuff at some of the events that take place. This story will just leave you on the edge of your seat waiting for what's coming next.

I would recommend reading this after Book 1 or you will not get a feel for what these characters are like. This is a major cliffhanger and did not expect it coming at all and I was truly disappointed in that fact but the story was amazing and A.L. Zaun nailed it. You feel the emotion right along with the characters. Looking forward to Rick and Maddy's story to continue in Book 4.

We were introduced to Rick in The Do Over. Now we really get to know him and his a$$holery was in It’s Not Over, and let me tell you, that man is HOT. There’s just something about him and his cocky ways that really mess with your head. I seriously saw past it and realized that he is sexy and had my heart early in the book. I found myself swooning over him and thinking of all the things I’d love to do to him!!!

Rick is doing anything in his power to win Madison’s heart. Too bad his attempts are pathetic at times, but watching him try and do everything he can to change is a great ride. They are perfect together. She is Madison Stuart…no one can tear her down. She is confident, beautiful and always in charge. Until they finally try their hand at a relationship. This story was fantastic. I couldn’t put it down. I loved their antics, playfulness, and the heat between them is off the charts!!!! You will love this book!!! The book has it all—love, bumps in the road, comedy, and hot moments. Fabulous read!!!!

Yes! Yes! Yes!!

This book is totally crazy!! While the first one is sweet and slow. This book just took off. The plot is twisted where each of Rick and Maddison's family play a pivotal role in their relationship.

Both families are twisted in their own way. Which made me understand how they both became who they are.

They were lots of times I just wanted them to get out of there. Go to a place where its just the two of them.

Rick and Maddison are both complex persons. They drive each other crazy. But they completely complement each other too. And I absolutely adore them. I wanna hug Maddy and tell her to forgive herself. And I wanna congratulate Rick for not thinking about himself for once in his life.

This book is just a beautiful read. Complicated and crazy. But full of love and hope too.

This book distinctly shows how our decisions affect our life. The ability to get past those decision wherein with the proper support system you can get through it.

The book ends with a cliff hanger which I absolutely detested. And looking forward to.

I would read The Do Over before starting this book, it will give you the whole picture of what's happening.

I started this right after book one. When I read it was Rick and Maddy's story I was like oh no. I kept reading and I started rooting for Rick. I shocked myself, I couldn't believe I started to like him. The arrogant idiot I thought he was, was long gone.

You get a glimpse of who Maddy is in book one. As you start to get to know her you realise that underneath all the hard as nails act, there's so much more to her. She can smile, laugh and let people see the real her. I didn't like her in the first book but soon changed, I felt what she was feeling and wanted to comfort her.

Such a roller coaster of a book, at times I felt like screaming in frustration and shouting at the characters. I loved this book even more than the first. The ending especially took me by surprise. I can't wait for book three.

I seriously never thought I would say this…. BUT I love Rick!!! I despised him in The Do Over and thought there was no way my feelings would be swayed in this book. BUT they were. I love him!!! Then there is Madison, I didn’t really care for her in The Do Over but I felt sorry for her because I knew there was more to her story. Again, I must say my opinions were changed. I LOVE Madison too!! I loved her strong, snarky attitude and I was right, she does have a story!!! There are quite a few twists and turns in this book and there are new characters you will HATE (um, Alex, seriously despise him). I am making this review short and sweet because I don’t want to ruin anything and I feel like if I right anything else my big mouth might get the best of me. All in all this was a fantastic book, but I will say the ending about KILLED me. I totally need the next book ASAP. I absolutely love this series and recommend everyone read it!!!!

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle 25TH JANUARY 2014:

RATING: 5 ENRIQUE STARS !

I’m going to start off by saying I really do recommend you read the first book in this series because you get to see pre-Madison Rick, then you get to listen to Rick in his endeavor to get Daniela.

THEN... you start to see Rick's attempts at becoming a better ...Rick.

He is trying.

Madison is a really great character. I think personally, Madison and Rick outshone Liam and Daniela for a great part of , The Do Over, # 1.

Where Liam was perfect, Rick was trouble, but I found him interesting to listen to. In his own way he wanted the girl he let go back and he didn’t see anything wrong with that. He thought he loved her enough to cause waves in her relationship with Liam. He thought Dani would take him back , easy.

Liam and Daniela are great characters and I loved how A.L. gave us the three pov’s in The Do Over. If we didn’t have Rick’s pov included I don’t think the story would have been as good. He has such a great voice and I don’t mean the tone. He spiced the story up.

Rick is Rick. He is flawed. He is a manipulator. But I always knew I had to know more about Rick. What made Rick, tick? Who could Rick give his heart to?

It’s never too late to change.

Enrique aka Rick finds himself fighting hard for Madison in, It’s Not Over. He has poured cold water on his Dani Fever after realizing he had to pursue Madison and he was not the better man for Dani.

Liam was.

Rick being Rick pulls out all his Rickisms and gets himself on the same flight as Madison and he isn’t letting her out of his sight.

“You had three fucking hours to say maybe two sentences. ‘Oh, Rick, I’m going to New York to see my grandfather, and my fuck buddy, Alex, works for him.’ That, my dear, would have answered the question I asked before I got on the big silver airplane,” he snapped.

I hadn’t thought anything through today. I was acting on impulse, giving in to my hysterics, and desires. Oh my god, I’m acting like Rick. No wonder he always has to dig himself out of shit.

Once I had finished this book , I realized how much dialogue is in it. It is full to the brim of dialogue.

And I liked it!

This book is told from Madison and Rick's pov's.

Madison and Rick are either arguing, bantering or loving it up while talking or inner monologuing.

“You are a goddamn tick,” I said, breathing heavily. “A motherfucking nuisance that’s impossible to get rid of.”

His arm hooked around my waist, and he turned me toward him. I kept my eyes focused on his chest that was rising and falling almost as wildly as mine.

“You’re so full of shit, Maddy.”

He raised my chin up with his thumb, and our eyes met.

“Completely and utterly full of shit,” he said with the confidence of a man looking straight inside of my soul.

Rick and Maddy I LOVED listening to.

Rick and Maddy are a very hot couple together.

Madison is such a great character. She has her flaws, her secrets, but she doesn’t let herself be walked over. She is a fighter. She may not win every fight, but she gives it a go.

He dipped his face toward mine, and I looked up.

“I know you want to.” he winked. “I still think you’re a badass and can take down an army of aliens singlehandedly, but you don’t have to do it alone. You’ve got me, babe.”

“Stop making this so hard.” He shifted his body to look at me. “I’m not the fucking enemy here. You have to control everything, including me. For once in your life, just let go, and let me catch you.”

Rick is a character that keeps on evolving. I absolutely love listening to him. When he sets his mind on Madison, he is all in. And she makes him work for it. She knows the type of guy Rick was, she sees he is learning, but she doesn’t trust that he will stay.

Rick needs to convince Madison that he will catch her when she falls.

She wants to believe Rick will catch her.

“If I let go, will you catch me?”

He brought his mouth over mine with a new fervour, sucking on my lower lip and groaning. “Every single fucking time, Maddy.” He cradled my head in his hands and deepened the kiss. “Every time.”

We get to meet Madison’s family and the thorn in her side. You can see where she gets her fighting attitude from. Being the girl among the men is not easy.

“I resent being called an asshole. Your brother makes me look like a fucking saint.”

I am going to be honest and say that Rick’s sisters needed the biggest stinky dead fish slap from me. I was wielding two big fish, one in each hand ready to go all Crazy 88 on their asses.

WTF!!

These ladies need a reality check. They are supposed to be big sisters, they behaved like spoilt, rich, brats.

Not mothers.

They played the part uber well.

“Newsflash, I am an asshole. In fact, I’m fucking Asshole Extraordinaire. You have no clue what I want, so stay out of my fucking life,” I snarled, grabbing my keys. “You and Liz crossed the line last night. I made it clear that I wasn’t putting up with your bitchiness. I’m done with this shit.”

Alex is a great thorn in Madison’ side and Rick’s fist would like to meet with Alex’s face. He really is a very good pain in the arse.

“You think you have this under control, but you don’t. Remember, I’m a liar and a manipulator. I know these things. The only difference between him and me is that he’s a predator, and I’m not.”

Chris pops up and I can't help thinking we are going to get a book from Chris and possibly ?? Macy. Chris sounds like he has a story to tell.

Bruce has me interested in him too.

Rick is brilliant in his endeavor to show Maddy he wants her and he loves her. He really wowed me. He can be very playful, and protective.

He really has met his match with Madison.

He courts the reader as much as he courts Madison.

“Babe, there’s plenty of room in here,” he said in a husky voice, gesturing with his hand for me to join him.

I didn’t do showers. They were too intimate, but I found myself tempted once again to break the rules.

“You want me to think that you’ve got this titanium shell covered in Teflon, but you don’t. I will be fucking damned if I let anyone talk shit about you. Ever,” he growled as he pounded his fist on the armrest. “And you...” He blew out a deep breath. “When I ask you something, don’t bullshit me.”

He knows how to talk to Madison. The new improved Rick wants honesty and no bullshit.

“You can’t bullshit a bullshitter. Tell me.”

He wants Maddy to believe he is worth it.

“I’m kissing you... like I mean it.” His tongue traced my lips. “You’re the most stunning woman I know.” He lowered the zipper on my dress while nibbling on my ear. “You drive me fucking insane.”

I pinched him, and he chuckled.

“But I’ll take a day of crazy with you over a lifetime of sanity without you.”

I couldn't help piecing a couple things together the more seeds were dropped so I am very interested to see where A.L takes us in the third book.

I really have found myself quite addicted to this series. I am looking forward to , Let It Go # 3 coming in 2014.

I know I’m not supposed to like Rick, and this relationship seems toxic AF, but I couldn’t help but love it

Gutted it ends how it ends and there seems to be no book 3 despite the end saying their story isn’t over…

What do you do when the one person you want, is chasing after his ex-girlfriend? Madison Stuart (Maddy) was trying to help Rick Marin win over his ex-girlfriend, Daniela. What started off as a mission to get Daniela back, quickly turned into something more for Maddy. Maddy had fallen for Rick. Maddy never imagined that while Rick was a student in the Madison Stuart School of Castrating Rick that she would develop feelings for him. Yes, Rick is an asshole, but Madison accepted him for who he was.

Maddy has built a wall around her. She doesn't let anyone in, so when Rick Marin somehow knocked that wall down, Maddy doesn't know what to do. Maddy feels as though her life is spiraling out of control and she needs some time to clear her head. Maddy needs to get away from Rick because she is tired of hearing about Rick pining over Daniela. The only thing is, Maddy is not aware of the events that happened the day prior and Rick did not want Daniela, Rick finally realized he wants Maddy. Rick tries to get a hold of Maddy and when he is unsuccessful, he panics. Rick realized that he really didn't want Daniela back, that the woman he was in love with has been in front of his face the entire time. Rick is in love with Maddy and needs to tell how he feels before it is too late.

Rick is trying to tell Maddy how he feels, but she tells him that she needs to take care of something first, before she could hear him out. When Rick tries to show Maddy how he feels, Maddy isn't sure she can trust Rick, or if he is just playing games. Maddy never allowed herself to have feelings for anymore. So when Rick tells her how he feels, Maddy doesn't know what to do. Rick has always been honest with Maddy. Maddy knows all about Rick's past, but Maddy has not told Rick about hers. Will Maddy trust Rick with hers? Will Rick still love Maddy if he knows her past? Would Maddy's past effect the way Rick looks at Maddy? Can Maddy trust Rick? Can Maddy give her heart to Rick?

Rick loves Maddy unconditionally. He never imagined that he could love someone the way he loves Maddy. Can Maddy admit her feelings for Rick? Maddy doesn't believe in the idea of "love". She was hurt once before, so she is closed off to the idea of it. But when Rick makes her feel things that she hasn't felt in a long time, Maddy doesn't know what to do. Will Maddy allow herself to love Rick? Will Maddy think if she loves Rick, she is therefore vulnerable?

Rick wants the best for Maddy. He vows to protect her, honor her and support her. Rick wants Maddy to let him take care of her. But Maddy is head strong and has never had to answer to anyone. So when push comes to shove, will Maddy listen to Rick? Will Maddy value Rick's opinion. Relationships are about compromise, but will Maddy compromise with Rick?

"You drive me fucking insane."

"But I'll take a day of crazy with you over a lifetime of sanity without you." ~ Rick Marin

I love the bantering between Rick and Maddy. Neither one of them are afraid to speak their minds. It appears that they either have a love/hate relationship. Nothing in between.

"Thirty seconds ago, your body was screaming 'fuck me, Rick', with your category-five hurricane eyes. You had enough heat coming off you to melt the polar ice caps. Now, you're in the get-the-fuck-away-from-me deep freeze from the Ice Age. You redefine mood swings." ~ Rick Marin

I despised Rick Marin in The Do Over (Book #1) in this series. But I have to be honest and say that I am Team Rick now. Rick has won me over. He got a do over. I didn't agree with the things that Rick did to Daniela in The Do Over, but he did redeem himself in It's Not Over. After going through The Madison Stuart School of Castrating Rick, he truly changes. He changed for the better. He realized that he was a dick and that the world didn't revolve around Rick Marin. He never suspected that he would fall for the one that was helping him try to get his ex-girlfriend back. When Rick realized that he was in love with Maddy, he had to have her. He knew there was chemistry between the two of them. It was undeniable. You could feel the sexual tension between them. It just took Maddy a little longer to admit her feelings for Mr. Asshole Extraordinaire. Yes, Rick was an asshole, but he was Maddy's asshole. Maddy knew the real Rick and she accepted him for who he was. She was only concerned, if Rick would accept the real Maddy. Not the Maddy that she let everyone else see. Maddy always put up a front. She never allowed anyone in, so when Rick managed to infiltrate her armor, she didn't know what to do.

I am excited for the 3rd book in this series. I am excited to see what the future holds for Rick and Maddy. Hopefully, we will even get a little bit more of Daniela and Liam in this book.

I can't live with her, and I can't live without her. I'm officially straight jacket material.

We met Rick Marin and Madison Stuart in The Do Over. Yes, I loved to hate him. He was an arrogant ass who dumped Dani, then tried to win her back when she found a nice guy who was interested in her. I was not sure how I really felt about Madison.

Madison and Rick have had a love hate relationship and have since the moment they met. She took him on as a challenge and tried to help him reign in his inner asshole, change for the better, and prove himself to his former girlfriend. But along the way their twisted, challenging friendship took an unexpected turn. Rick thought he was doing the right thing for a change, but it turned out he again miscalculated the situation and it was too little too late. Madison is not about to sit around and see how it all ended up and does what she does best...run....

But fate had brought Madison into my life, and she'd turned everything around for me. It had been a painful process--her castrating me on a daily basis for months, putting me through her ruthless boot camp of no bulls**t. Somewhere along the way though, I had fallen in love with her. Like the bubonic plague. I hadn't known what hit me, but now, I had it bad.

They taunt, tease, argue, and generally piss each other off. They drive each other crazy and the sexual tension is heavy. But they make each other feel things that confuse and anger them at the same time. It's cat and mouse. Fight or flight. Destroy and conquer. They both need and love control. He is an a**hole. She is a b**ch. But underneath their armor they are damaged and in need of an anchor and love. They realize the other's personality issues, but are able to embrace the bad and questionable as well as the good in the other. He wants her to let go and to be the one to catch her. She wants to be able to trust but with her history it is hard.

She helped him deal with his issues in the first part of their friendship. She stood by him as his unconventional best friend, trainer, confidante, cheer leader, and ass kicker. Now it is his turn to stand by her as her professional, personal, and family life become a problem. She has worked hard to be the tough business woman she was groomed to be, but when that is threatened, it makes her insecure and vulnerable. She needs Rick more than she though she ever would.

Their interactions are feisty, witty, brutally honest, and sometimes even tortured. Their relationship continues to morph and change into more of a real emotional connection. But their inherent personalities. mood swings, and spiciness do not change that much. Their fiery chemistry and strong reactions just spur them on into this crazy chaotic coupling.

"You're an asshole."
"I'm your asshole."

"You drive me f***ing insane....But I'll take a day of crazy with you over a lifetime of sanity without you."

But their business and personal worlds are complicated and sometimes unforgiving. There are people out to bring them down and break them apart. There is intrigue, threats, secrets, and betrayal. There are situations that Rick and Maddy cannot agree on and cause tension. Their families are both strong and opinionated.

Can they keep themselves together and still fulfill their plans and dreams? Or will they have to choose between love and success?

I got sucked back in quickly to Rick and Madison's story and found myself really liking them this time. They are so outspoken, strong, opinionated, and such control freaks. It was fun to see them struggle to come to terms with what they really wanted and how to balance the control. They are either a match made in Heaven or Hell...sometimes it is hard to tell and they keep each other on their toes. They ranged from explosive, sweet, humorous, and irrational together. They both showed personal growth and cracking of their walls. We got both points of view and and it was interesting seeing deeper down into their minds and hearts.

I realized as I got closer to the end that their story was not going to be complete in this installment. It did not leave on a horrible cliffhanger, but all of the issues swirling around them were not completely resolved. I am looking forward to more with them and would like to see more with Liam and Dani and Chris and Macy from the first book as well.

Thanks to A.L. Zaun for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Although this is #2 in The Do-Over Series, I think you can read it as a standalone novel. However, I would not advice it as I believe you miss out on the real Rick Experience if you do not read book one first.

This review will focus mainly on Rick and Madison instead of the actual storyline as there is so much going on in the book that I fear I will reveal too much once I get started. But first a bit of a warming, though: this books ends in a major cliffhanger...Yes, you read it right. And I know I have said it before: I do not mind cliffhangers at all, but THIS one? Well, this one makes me a bit annoyed because it is huge and I do not know when the next installment in the series comes out.

I confess that I did not much like either Rick or Madison much after having read the first book, “The Do Over”. But you know me by now: I like to keep an open mind about the books I read, and I really think that this second book in the series is better than the first.

Rick really is a strange man: in some ways, he is a complete player and one should not believe a word that comes out of his mouth. But on the other hand, you cannot help feeling sympathy towards him as he struggles to get Madison to understand the depth of his feelings. I really enjoyed getting to know him better and to see the real man underneath the salesman mask he usually wears. Of course, he is still a bit of a douche - he would not be Rick otherwise - but he is most definitely a likeable one.

“I can’t live with her, and I can’t live without her. I’m officially straight jacket material.” (Rick)

And even though, in theory, Rich should be all kinds of wrong for Madison, he is actually perfect for her: strong-willed, alpha, yet sweet when he has to be. He sees behind Madison's mask - much to her dismay - and he keeps hanging on, even when he finds it extremely difficult to do so. And is that not what we all want in life? Having a partner that does not let go no matter what life throws at you?

As for Madison...Honestly, in the beginning of the story, she almost gave me whiplash with her mood swings and I cannot blame Rick for being worried about his hair falling out whenever he runs his hands through it *wink*. But once I got to see beneath the tough businesswoman exterior she wears all the time, I had absolutely no problems connecting with her. I even found myself tearing up when I learned about her past, and I felt really sorry for her. I loved her feisty, strong, sassy personality and how she does not let Rick get away with anything. True, she does frustrate me at times with her stubbornness, but she is a woman who, despite everything, really is ruled by her past. She cannot just let go of her past grievances, and I really think that Miss Zaun excels at showing us Madison's inner turmoil.

“Enough is enough. I didn’t know what tomorrow would hold or what yesterday had meant. I was in the moment, and right then and there, I wanted him, maybe even needed him. “Kiss me like you mean it.” (Madison)

In some ways, Rick and Madison’s relationship should be classified as a bit dysfunctional: they fight all the time, they always think they are right when they are not, and both are really bad at compromising…Having said that, it works for them, and as their story progresses, they learn to trust each other. They are still very stubborn people, of course, and neither one of them change that much throughout the book, but that is what makes their love story believable to me: if Rick had, all of a sudden, stopped being manipulative, and Madison had just let him take over completely, I would not find it real. In my opinion, real people do not change that much and I find it refreshing that this book couple learn that their strengths and weaknesses are part of why they are perfect for each other.

I really cannot write this review without mentioning how the banter between this couple made me laugh so hard many times. Oh, and let us not forget the sex scenes…Phew! They are, indeed, very hot and steamy.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book: the characters are flawed, but real; the storyline had my adrenaline pumping at high speed on more than one occasion, and the sweet moments made my romantic heart sigh happily. The writing is really well and had me riveted to the pages from page one, and I honestly cannot wait to read the conclusion to Rick and Madison’s story, which, I hope, we will not have to wait too long for.

5 TEAM MaRi STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
THE DO OVER, Book 1: Dani, Liam, Rick
IT'S NOT OVER, Book 2: Rick and Madison
LET IT GO, Book 3: Rick and Madison continuation

THE DO OVER can be read as a stand-alone. IT'S NOT OVER can be read without reading THE DO OVER. LET IT GO is the story continuation of IT'S NOT OVER.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Wow, ok. So I read THE DO OVER (book #1) and though I did enjoy many aspects of it (see my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...) the book felt a bit long, a little all over the place and the love triangle aspect wasn't my cup of tea. Plus, Rick was "an asshole" and not likable at all. IT'S NOT OVER has the same fabulous writing style, feel and flow but I enjoyed this story so much more.

"If she's amazing, she won't be easy. If she's easy, she won't be amazing. If she's worth it, you won't give up. If you give up, you're not worthy."

IT'S NOT OVER is told from both Rick and Madison's POV and because of that I was able get to know them inside and out - why they are the way they are, how they think and feel about the other - which made for some very interesting dialogue and story line, as did both being strong Alpha types. Rick and Madison are both changing and growing, which is conveyed beautifully. They themselves aren't overly sweet or romantic individually but as a couple they are very good to and for each other. Rick grew on me (from the first book) and became a really great character. His love for Madison was my favorite part of the book.

"Hold on to me. I won't let you fall, and if you do, I'll catch you or die trying."

Madison was puzzling at times, even knowing her inner dialogue. The way she had most people perceiving her was not her true self.

"I'd love to teach him a lesson on respect, boundaries, and the proper ways to treat a woman."

Rick and Madison's families are a big part of who they are and why they are the way they are. That secondary force was very powerful and really made the story that much better.

And that ending! Total cliffhanger.
Is there hope for the dysfunctional duo? I can hardly wait for LET IT GO

"Check-fucking-mate Rick!"

Wooooohooooo!!! I have been waiting for It's Not Over to release since last July!!!!! I absolutely ADORE this series! I am so happy I got the chance to discover A.L. Zaun :) I could not put this book down! Maddy and Rick are simply UNFORGETTABLE! The second installment in The Do Over Series does not disappoint! All of my expectations were exceeded and I fell even more in love with Maddy and Rick. <3 <3

In It's Not Over we follow Maddy and Rick. We get to meet them in the first installment, The Do Over, and let me tell you that they caught my attention from the moment they were introduced in the story. Oh boy! Where do I start with Rick Marin? Mr. Marin aka Supreme A**hole of the world is quite possibly the most sexy, panty-melting, intense douchebag that I have ever met!!! Let me give you a little recap of what he did to me in The Do Over.... Here I am reading this AMAZING story about Daniela, who is Rick's ex-girlfriend, and Liam *Swoon* her new boyfriend. Usually I would be cheering for the good guy, and I did! Buttttttttttt!!!!! Something happened to me while I was reading The Do Over. I fell in love with not one, but TWO guys!!! I swear, I had a WTF moment when I realised what just happened to me ... I fell in love with Mr. Sexy Douchenugget! LOL!! With Maddy it's a totally different story. I was cheering for her from the very beginning. She's exactly the kind of heroine I like to read about. I saw how she changed Rick and made him become a better man. By pushing Rick into the arms of another woman, she realized that he was exactly the kind of man that she wanted and needed in her life. It took me no time to cheer: ''Go! Team MaRi Go!''

Rick realises that Maddy is the one that got away in the end. He does everything in his power to make her see that they belong together. When she runs, he goes after her. Maddy runs away from what she feels. Never in her wildest dreams did she think that she could fall in love like she did with Rick. Relationships are just not her thing and she stays away from them. With Rick, she wants more and that scares her. Her pasts comes back to haunt her and family drama makes her take decisions that she might regret, but until the very last page It's Not Over! Maddy and Rick will fight until the end to make their relationship work.

Maddy and Rick without a doubt make it on my Top Favorite Couple list. They are sexy, funny and addictive! I can't stop thinking about them. Oh my God! The chemistry between these two?!?!?!?! Can you say ... C-A-L-I-E-N-T-E! Every time they touch is a *Fan self* moment. Even when they fight it's hot! My inner cheerleader was going nuts for these two hot tamales. With Maddy and Rick, what you see is what you get! I loved seeing them grow has a couple, but even more has individuals. They came a long way from the first time I met them in The Do Over. I loved every single chapter of this book and I found myself rereading some parts after I finished reading it.

Oh! I almost forgot .... Alex Santana is the new A**hole in town .... He's worst than Rick Marin. Being a hardcore Team MaRi fan, I've got these words for Alex ... Chop! Chop! Chop! Watch out Mr. Santana! I don't think you know who the real Madison Stuart is ... LOL! ;)

I give, It's Not Over, by A.L. Zaun 5 intoxicating, sensual, panty-melting, emotional, outstanding stars! I can't wait to see what A.L. Zaun has up her sleeves for Let It Go. I have no doubt that she will exceed all of my expectations just like she did with It's Not Over. That cliffhanger left me at the edge of my seat! I want to read Let It Go so bad!!!! Summer 2014, where are you?!?!?! I can't recommend this series enough! Once again, fantastic work by A.L. Zaun!

It’s Not Over by A.L. Zaun in the second book in her Do Over series. You don’t have to read The Do Over first, however....I did and I totally recommend it. You really get a feel for Rick and Maddy and how they came to know each other.

Madison Stuart runs the Martini Bar in Miami. She is a strong willed woman who gets what she wants and doesn’t take shit from anyone, especially Rick Marin. However, when things get to personal and her emotions get the best of her she runs.

Rick Marin thought he knew what he wanted, he had spent months trying to win back his old love, with help from Madison. When he finally comes to the realization that he wants Maddy....he goes after her. The two of them are like fire and ice, oil and water, but then she is the olive to his martini...perfect for each other.

A relationship of this magnitude is new for both of them. I struggled with Maddy’s insecurities and her constant snarkiness with Rick. And her mood swings?! Off the freaking charts - I almost thought she was bipolar. She was up and down and all over the place, she was trying to remain strong and in control of her life and her feelings.

“I had been Team Rick until I wasn’t, and that was now.”

Rick puts up with it though....he really loves this girl, even if he is an ass who says “motherfucker” way too often!!

“Once I’d gotten passed her frigid, man-eating, rod-up-her-ass attitude, she was really cool.”

“I was entertaining the idea of joining the pussy-whipped, motherfucking, tampon-wearing team of dickless sons of bitches.”

When Rick goes to extremes to talk to Maddy he is not up front with her, she still thinks he wants Dani. This drove me INSANE!!!! I wanted to smack him upside the head and tell him to just spit it out. How can he feel like this....

“I felt something for her that I couldn’t describe. It was more than wanting to bury my dick in her and fuck her hard...I couldn’t live without her. Fuck, fuck, fuck.”

...and not tell her what’s going on.

They both have shit to deal with in their personal lives. Maddy is trying to further her career and the only way to do so is by working with someone from her past....Alex (or as I have nicknamed him - the douchemonkey). Rick is dealing with his sisters who to me, are complete bitches who need a slap in the face. None of this stops Rick and Maddy though, when the two of them are together it’s sweet (in a fucked up Rick and Maddy type of way) and it is HOT!

“Maddy, am I under your skin?” “Like a tick,” I breathed, fighting the urge to turn around and give in to the feelings overtaking me. His gentle laugh vibrated against my neck. “That’s right, babe. I suck...” He brought his mouth alongside my neck and slowly trailed his tongue in gentle circles down to my shoulder before sucking there. “And then I get engorged.”

“Kiss me like you mean it.”

Madison continues to be insecure and I just melted at Rick’s reaction.

“If I let go, will you catch me?” He brought his mouth over mine with a new fervor, sucking my lower lip and groaning. “Every single fucking time, Maddy.” He cradled my head in his hands and deepened the kiss. “Every time.”

Will Madison be able to give Rick what he wants and what he needs....she means so much to him will she be able to just let go? The connection they have is intense, fierce, passionate.

“With Madison though, it was different. She owned me and not because I wanted her, but because I was hers.”

“He wasn’t an attachment. He was an appendage, and we were fused together.”

Oh and this book will leave you wanting more.....throw your kindle moment for sure!!

“It’s Not Over” is book two in A.L. Zaun’s The Do Over series. If you haven’t read “The Do Over,” I strongly recommend it first, because to get the full “Rick Marin” effect, you’ve got to have the back story.

Rick Marin is one of the most confusing characters I’ve ever read. I don’t know if I want to love him, or hate him, or just smack the ever loving shit out of him. When we meet Rick in book one, frankly, he’s a misogynistic prick. Nearly two years after he devastates his live-in girlfriend by dumping her in exchange for chasing pussy and drinking expensive scotch, he sees her one night in a club and makes it his life mission to “win” her back, completely ignoring the fact that she has a new man in her life, and she’s happy. Ya, he’s an asshole!

Madison Stewart takes pity on Rick -- or maybe she’s more disgusted by him – and vows to teach him how to learn to love Dani more than he loves his dick. He is an asshole, and Maddy doesn’t pass up even one opportunity to point that out. I absolutely love that about her, and perhaps even more, I love about him the fact that he’s completely undauted by her insults. In fact, for reasons I don’t think even Rick understands, it’s all the polemic invectives that Maddy hurls at him on a nearly relentless basis that inspire his metamorphosis. His gradual transformation courtesy of the man-eating and enigmatic woman that is Madison fucking Stewart has him finally recognizing what (or who) has been in front of him all along. But Rick isn’t the only one who’s changing, and it’s confusing – and scary – as hell. Maddy doesn’t let people in – not like that. The last time she did, the results were catastrophic and the fallout nearly broke her, so letting Rick in – revealing those secrets – is positively out of the question. By the time Rick realizes what he really wants, it is over. Madison is gone.

I don’t know when there’s been a more unlikely match up than Rick Marin and Madison Stewart, but A.L. Zaun has taken two entirely challenging and rebellious characters and skillfully cultivated a bond between them that, I have a feeling, is going to prove them to be a powerhouse couple, and a veritable force to be reckoned with. The chemistry between these two is off-the-charts, and not just in the bedroom. They are funny, and snarky, with precisely the right measure of… hmmm… what shall I call it… Wholesomeness, maybe? That doesn’t seem like quite the right word given their promiscuous histories, but there is something about a woman who adores her grandfather above all else, and a man who treats his mother like a queen. On a humorous note, the amount of emasculation Rick endures at the hands of his two older sisters tells you a lot about the heart of him. Perhaps that’s why Rick is convinced that despite the humiliation he suffers at her playful hands, Madison – his Maddy – is “the” one. Make no mistake, though, Rick is a warrior, and I LOVE when caveman Rick shows up for the party!

At the risk of sounding cliché, Maddy and Rick’s story is not over with “It’s Not Over.” And, just for the record, I, too, underwent a change, because I’m no longer disgusted by Rick. I’m amused by him. In fact, I’d go so far as to say I’m undeniably and irrevocably charmed by his boyish, bull-in-a-china-shop spell. Wow! I definitely didn’t see that coming!

5 Fantastically Sexy Mind-Blowing Stars!

Never in a million years did I ever think I would be Team Rick but lo' and behold the impossible has happened! And I'm loving every minute of his cocky and oh so sexy ways! Throw in the occasional "corazon" and I just melt.

It's Not Over picks up where The Do Over left off. Rick has officially given up on his mission to win Daniela back. He's finally said his goodbyes and he's ready to go after the girl who was right in front of him the whole time. Except she's gone. Madison took off for New York without so much as a goodbye, see ya later or nice to know ya. But Rick, being the charmer (or shmoozer) that he is, has his ways of finding out just about anything. He's able to track Maddy down and doesn't waste anytime in running after her. All the drama and pure sexiness that ensues will have your jaw hitting the floor on more than one occasion!

Watching them go back and forth with each other is like the most cunning game of cat and mouse. I still can't figure out who's the cat and who's the mouse. They both fight to have the upper hand and get the other right where they want them. Their relationship is...interesting, to say the least. It's literally a love/hate kinda deal as they affectionally refer to each other quite often as "asshole" and "bitch". Gotta love the sexual tension that just oozes out of their pores.

Rick is, or was, a womanizer. He's used to sweet talking women to get anything and everything he wants, and they stupidly fall all over him and comply. They literally cannot get their clothes off fast enough when it comes to him. But it seems as though he's learned quite a few lessons in the Madison Stuart School of Castrating Rick. He's whipped. She's basically got him by…the balls…and isn't letting go anytime soon. Nor does he want her to let go, or so it seems.

Madison thinks she's undeserving of love because of her past indiscretions. Everyone around her puts her down and thinks the worst of her. Ever since she was 12 years old she's known exactly what she wanted to do, and that was to take over the family business. She proved herself through many years of hard work and has proof, in the form of a super successful bar, to prove it. Yet she's blindsided by her family as they try to thwart her success and hold her back.

I've really fallen in love with Ms. Zaun's writing style. She effortlessly brings the characters to life with real dialogue and emotions. You'll be laughing one minute, swooning the next and then be angry enough to take on every fool who dares to stand in Maddy's way. As with The Do Over, this second installment in the series packs so much drama and plot twists into the story you'll be sitting on the edge of your seat watching it all unfold. Just don't snack while reading because you might unintentionally end up eating a whole bag of popcorn by yourself…not that I did that or anything, but you know…just a warning.

I would definitely recommend reading The Do Over first because that's where you get the background of Maddy and Rick's relationship and how they came to be where they are at this point in time. Plus Dani's story is one you don't want to miss. Do yourself a favor and add this series to your TBR list NOW!

I received an ARC for an honest review...

“If I let go, will you catch me?”--Madison Stuart
“Every single fucking time, Maddy. Every time.” --Rick Marin

I love Rick Marin and Madison Stuart. I loved them in The Do Over, and I fell in love with them even more in It’s Not Over. They are exactly who I thought they were. I loved that I was not at all surprised by who they were when reading their story. It’s Not Over is Rick and Madison’s story, and it’s very different from Daniela and Liam’s story.

Rick Marin is the asshole extraordinaire. He is possessive. He is selfish. He is arrogant. He is over protective. He is complicated and high maintenance. And Maddy, along with the rest of us, secretly love all these ridiculous things about him. I love that he makes me smile. I love that he acts before he thinks when it comes to Maddy. His smartass comments and dickhead remarks are some of my favorite parts of the book, but really it’s when he is uncharacteristically sweet that Rick Marin is amazing. He is Rick Marin sweet, so it’s not so sugary that it makes your teeth hurt, but he is the jerk with his sweet moments. And to me that is the best kind.

Madison Stuart is a bad-ass chick. She is cold-hearted and independent. She is a strong woman who does not take shit from anyone. But underneath all that armored exterior she is a woman like the rest of us. She is soft. She needs to be taken care of, and she never wants to get hurt. Madison Stuart has a past that we learn about in this book. We knew about her already from The Do Over, but we learn so much more. She has walls of steel built around her heart, but some how Rick Marin, asshole that he is, manages to breech her walls. I loved Maddy as well. I love how tough and independent she is. I love that she fights Rick’s dominance every step of the way. I love that she has a history that we know nothing about and get to meet her and her family in this story. She was scared to death to take that step into the unknown with Rick, and there are times I wanted to shake her and tell her to get over her insecurities and let go, but at the same time I understand the way she felt.

In case you could not tell I loved this book!! I could not put it down once I started. I want more Rick and Maddy and am stuck with a book hangover!! Luckily, A.L. Zaun is giving us more of them, but I want it now! (Yes. I am impatient.) This book is hot. This book is funny. This book is sweet. It has amazing banter between Rick and Maddy. It has amazing sex between Rick and Maddy. The connection between these two is so intense. They do not have the story book love, but the kind of love that gets under your skin and just drives you crazy, but at the same time it’s the kind of crazy that once you have it, you wonder how you ever lived a life before the crazy came to town.

I think everyone should give this book a try, especially if you love a good jerk and the bitch that he loves. These two characters are both tough as nails and have strong personalities, but together they just make sense. I loved this book and cannot wait to get the next book in this series. While Zaun did not leave us with a cliff, she definitely left me wanting more!!

3.5 stars had the potential to be 4-5 stars too

Rick Marin is an asshole to put it simply. He tried to win back his ex-girlfriend when he knew that she had finally moved on from him and was happy. He used a friendship to help make this happen. He wanted Dani back and even accepted the help from Madison “Maddy” Stuart to do so. What he did anticipate was what he began to feel for Maddy, the biggest bitch and best friend he has ever had. Now he can’t live without her even when she drives him insane.

Maddy is all Team Rick, until she isn’t anymore. Maddy is a vicious bitch at times, and doesn’t do relationships. She made Rick her pet project. She can’t sit back any longer and watch Rick win over Dani any longer. She began to feel more than just friendship for him and she has her own problems to deal with that are more important than her heart. She is so driven in wanting to reach her career goal that she would sacrifice her happiness.

Rick, oh Rick you are an asshole but I wouldn’t love you any other way. He knew who he really wanted and couldn’t live without and it wasn’t Dani. No it was the castrating threatening, ball busting bitch that is his best friend. He knows Maddy is the one for him but convincing her to not only trust him with her body and secrets but her heart as well isn’t an easy thing to accomplish. He isn’t used to having to chase someone he wants, but for Maddy he would do anything to make her his.

Maddy has reasons why she acts the way she does. Her past has made her the way she is and until now her past didn’t matter to her, well except one thing that is. She wants to prove to her family that she can handle and be successful in opening the next restaurant in Miami but there are conditions. Sadly these conditions require her to work with someone from her past, Alex, who is bound and determined to get Maddy back in his bed.

I actually loved Rick in The Do Over even with him being the asshole that he was, but in It’s Not Over he completely won me over. He is the jerk you love to hate, the one you know that when he finally finds the one woman that is perfect for him that he will move heaven and earth for her. Maddy is a massive bitch, and after a while it gets old her constantly telling Rick how to behave or threatening to cut off his dick or balls. Honestly Maddy was not one of my favorite people, in fact I actually kind of hate her. Lately I am finding that it is the male main character that is making the book worth reading and not the female, maybe it is just the way they are being written or a mood that I am in, but for me Rick is what made the book.

I did really like this book, even though there is a cliff hanger. In a way I wish Rick and Maddy’s story would have been completed because I want to see what is in store for the other characters in this series. But, I shall wait patiently to see where Ms. Zaun is going to take us on this journey. Pick this series up, I think you will enjoy it.

“I’ll take a day of crazy with you over a lifetime of sanity without you.”

After reading The Do After and It’s Not Over back to back I’m feeling like I’ve just developed a personality disorder. Yesterday while reading The Do Over, I was absolutely hating Rick with every fiber of my being. I couldn’t believe how much pain and suffering he put Dani and Liam in the first book. He said he loved Dani yet he practically destroyed their perfect relationship for his own personal gain.

A day later and a third into It’s Not Over I’m feeling the total opposite and started to love him for pulling himself together and proving to me that not all of Madison’s lessons weren’t put to waste after all.

Early on I thought that these two belonged together for the very wrong reasons. Rick was an egotistical, womanizing manipulator while Maddy was what Chris would say a human version of a praying mantis. Both were promiscuous in their own right and both were misunderstood – more so on Maddy’s part. She had so much going on in her life and the only way she knew how to get a momentary reprieve was through sex.

That was up until she took Rick under her wing and made him into her pet project. She had no idea that she was going to fall madly and deeply in love with this arrogant man who pushed her buttons. Rick was going into the relationship blind too. He thought it was always going to be Dani but after spending months under Maddy’s tutelage he realized Dani wasn’t the one who he was meant to be with.

Maddy wasn’t an easy sell. At every turn it she made it difficult for Rick. She was burnt in the past and this was the only way she knew how to cope with these feelings that she had for Rick. Rick wasn’t giving up on her, no matter how many times she shut him out, ran away or just being the major biatchy woman that she always was..he was willing to take everything that she dished out. This was made me fall in love with this guy. He turned over a new leaf.

I thought both books were terrific. I did however enjoy the second more than the first. I think it was because of the unique back and forth, love-hate relationship between Rick and Maddy. It did give me whiplash but it also created all this amazing tension that I adore in romance.

I also loved the complexity of the characters and how they both got under my skin. After reading both books, Let It Go has without a doubt landed on my Most Anticipated List.
