About the author

Linda O. Johnston's first published fiction appeared in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine and won the Robert L. Fish Memorial Award for Best First Mystery Short Story of the Year. Since then, Linda has had more short stories and novellas published, plus, by the end of 2018, she will have had fifty novels published, including mysteries and romance.

Linda currently writes the Barkery and Biscuits Mysteries cozy mystery series for Midnight Ink, and also wrote the Superstition Mysteries for them, both featuring dogs. She has also written the Pet Rescue Mystery series for Berkley Prime Crime, which was a spinoff from her Kendra Ballantyne, Pet-Sitter mystery series. And yes, they involved dogs, too.

Linda also writes for Harlequin Romantic Suspense, including a new miniseries about a K-9 ranch where dogs are trained. Linda additionally writes paranormal romance for Harlequin Nocturne including the Alpha Force miniseries about a covert military unit of shapeshifters--and all the werewolves also have cover dogs.

Linda, a currently inactive transactional attorney, now writes fiction full-time. She is a member of the Los Angeles chapters of Mystery Writers of America and Sisters in Crime. She is also a member of Romance Writers of America, including the Los Angeles, Orange County and Santa Clarita chapters.

Couldn't finish it. So boring. So lame.

Good book. I liked both Sherra and Brody. Sherra had one of those inquiring minds that just wouldn't let go when she found something that puzzled her. When she went hacking into government computers and uncovered some things that didn't make sense, she ended up getting a visit from a government operative. That man was Brody, the man who supposedly was dead. Now he and Sherra were both in danger from those who had tried to kill him. I loved Sherra's tenaciousness, even though she kept doing things that she was told not to do. In the long run, it worked out for the best, as it kept her and Brody safe. Brody was frustrated by Sherra's unwillingness to play by the rules he made. He had to keep her close to keep her safe, but it was playing havoc with his mental state, as he was still attracted to her. And he needed to keep his mind on the mission, to find out who had killed his friend. I really liked the way they finally started working together, and the ending was definitely heart pounding.

Ugh. Wanted to like it but I just could not stand the main characters. H was not too bad but I hated the h. She just seemed to argue, accuse, push etc. until I wanted to slap her. What part of NATIONAL SECURITY does she not get? Apparently her need to know trumps everything and everyone. Completely redundant conversations too.

It was really boring and slow at first but got better.Sherra really got on my nerves and it got old pretty fast when Sherra would ask Brody what was going on and,instead of answering her,he'd then kiss her and they'd have sex.
