Right from the first page Eden is off and running with this one. Her flowing writing and upbeat style keep you captivated on every word. She also takes her storytelling to a new level by creating an entire mythology for all supernatural races. The ancestry of the races that Eden presents is very intriguing. It’s much more pronounced and thoroughly laid out than it was in the first novel of the series. You really get to know what each of these supes is capable of, and much of it is unique to this series. It lends a sense of realism to the novel as a whole. Even when I thought I’d figured out what would happen next, Eden still managed to throw me for a loop. I definitely didn’t see the novel ending the way that it did. It was brilliant none the less.

With this novel we get to know most of the characters introduced in the first novel much better, both historically and in the present. It’s very unique to read the hundreds of years of history that some of these characters have. It really gives you insight into who they are and who they’re trying to become. We also get to know the characters as members of a team. There are so many different aspects of these characters that have become developed that it’s unreal. You get to know them quite intimately without feeling like you’ve read a textbook on them.

My final thoughts on this one? Please let there be more. I’m completely caught up on these characters and this fabulous new twist on supes. I’m not ready for it to be over yet.

Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author/publisher/blog tour company in exchange for an honest review.

Burned in Shadows 4 1/2 STARS

This is the second book in the Shadow Unit series. I have to say I enjoyed the first book Enslaved in Shadows, Burned blew me away. I usually try to avoid series books, because they hardly ever live up to the first one in my eyes.

Burned in Shadows has restored my faith. This book surpassed any of my expectations, and showed real growth with the author. Burned in Shadows picks up where Enslaved left off. Draven is still missing, and Jess is looking for her mate.

I enjoyed the dynamic between Bells, Ronin, and Royce. Can you say hot?! I loved reading about their mating, and let me tell you Tigris writes some very hot alpha males.

This story was full of action, and didn't drag at all. I was literally on the edge of my seat for some of it, and didn't want to put it down. There are more characters introduced in this installment, and I can only see this series getting better. The author has answered a lot of questions in this installment, but left many more to be answered in the next story.

I will definitely be looking out for the third book in this series. Tigris Eden has knocked it out the park with Burned in Shadows, and I can't wait to see where she takes theses characters next.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review. My opinions are my own.

First let me say that I had an author copy and Tigris tells me she changed some things but my guess is that the main themes hold with the same end results.

That said, Tigris has knocked it out of the park with this second novel in the Shadow Unit Series. She picks up where we left off with ENSLAVED IN SHADOW. Draven is missing - presumed dead and Jes not buying it and intends to find him. Belinda is caught up in her strange attraction to Royce and Ronin while both brothers are anxious to know the truth concerning the three of them but also afraid that what happened in the past may happen again. And then we have little Faith going wolfie and being a bit prophetic as well.

The action is non-stop with Jes learning to fight with training via Ronin, Royce and crew. She also is finding more and more changes to her person since she is no longer human.

There is a break in at headquarters and no one can figure out how some one got in. Turns out it's Black aka Draven and he's taking Marcus. He and Jes have an encounter of sorts. He has had his memory wiped so Jes is just another person in his way but is wolf knows her. It's driving him nuts.

Jes now can take on any other persons form so she with the Unit come up with a plan to rescue Draven. She will take on a new look and be recruited into the Red Hand.

Now Belinda and the brothers are the major focus of the book. But I don't know how to write about it. Let's just say that she loves them both, Royce wants to make her theirs and Ronin too but he's still afraid and holding back. I'm not telling any more - you need to read it. Tigris really did a fantastic job with their relationship and love.

Now Tigris has tied up many items but has given us more loose threads. I really am looking forward to what is to come.

Second book is as fun as the first!

This is the second book in the Shadow Unit series. Everything was kicked up a notch - the drama, the fight scenes and the sex. I’d usually refer to the sex as ‘intimate moments’ or something a little more tame like that, but there is nothing tame about the physical elements in the book *fans self*

I found myself still enjoying the characters and intrigued to know more at every turn. Jesminda is truly kickass with all of her new abilities - sometimes it seems like she is too good at everything but at least there are some legit reasons for that to be the case.

My main complaint is the plethora of typos that continually pulled me out of the story. I think this book is early in the author’s career and I am willing to overlook it yet. Also there is no rhyme or reason to the breaks and chapter changes. This also took me out of the story some.

Copy provided by Author for review after I beta read the book

Royce and Ronin are Feral twins, Royce has loved and lost women but Bells opened his eyes and she believes she is the one for him and his twin. Ronin does not believe that Belinda is for him and his brother. But one night with her isn't enough. Even when he sees her for who and what she really is, Ronin still has a hard time expressing his emotions where Belinda is concerned. {Reverse roles basically...slight spoiler there}. Belinda (Bells) Ignis is good at ignoring men. She's had her share of heartache. Jilted at the altar by her first love, she's sworn all men off for good. Her mother and Matria of her community has other plans in mind, as well as the Zarides brothers. The clock is ticking down for certain members of the Shadow Unit. Draven assumed dead, leaves a sour taste in everyone's mouth. Jes' new found abilities make for a great addition to the team. But when things seem to settle, they only get worse, as the team sets out to discover the origins of Mr. Black and the notorious Red Sun Organization.

There are many layers to this story but it's very easy to follow if you've read the first book. Enslaved in Shadows, if you haven't read it that's COMPLETELY okay too. Enslaved is about the other couple Draven and Jes. That is their book, and sets up some backstory that is mentioned in this one. This books dives deeper into the Shadow Unit and Red Sun organizations, learn more little secrets about other members like Enri, Gabe, and Dietrich along with a couple others.

I would have given this one more but there were a few issues that just got to me. One being the editing issue. I found there to be too many "To's" and not "Too's" to go unnoticed. There was also the fact that I didn't like the split back and forth from story to story. I started skipping over Bell's story. Also there was the power thing. I don't know why but often writers do this, build up a character to be a badass and then she can't even take down a common wolf shifter. It never sits right when they can't be the badass that they were written as.

I do recognize this authors writing as one that flows and has the potential to be even great the more she writes.

I read Enslaved in Shadows last year and enjoyed the creative paranormal storyline and the romance between Jesminda (Jes) and Agent Draven Stone of Shadow Unit, a paranormal agency that polices the supernatural community. Draven is a werewolf who finds himself falling in love with Jesminda, despite the fact that she is a human. After one brief, but life-altering encounter between them in five years ago, they are reunited when Jes seeks Shadow Unit’s protection and help against her sadistic, human ex-husband who has been kidnapping and torturing vampires so he can sell their blood on the black market. No matter how hard, Draven tries to fight his feelings for Jes, his wolf knows she is his soul mate. However, Jes’s husband physically and emotionally abused her so terribly, that she questions whether she will ever be able to love and trust another man. Just as Jes and Draven begin to make progress in their relationship, a series of shocking events occur at the end of Enslaved in Shadows that left me anxiously waiting to see what’s next for them.

When I realized Burned in Shadows was available for review, I jumped on the chance to read and review the sequel. I didn’t even bother to read the book’s description because I was already invested in the plot. So when I soon discovered that the featured love story involves Jes’s best friend Bells and the twins Royce and Ronin Zarides, who are also Shadow Agents, all I could say was, “Uh…oh, what I have gotten myself into?” followed a series of “Oh, my!’s” as I followed their love story.

 photo austin_omg_zps7107f1ca.gif

There isn’t a love triangle here. No, it’s just the opposite. When Royce and Ronin were born, they shared the same umbilical cord and their bond is so intense that when they find the woman who is meant for them, she will have to love both of them. After Bells unknowingly passes the “test” indicating she is their intended mate, they begin to jointly pursue her. The leading love story is a ménage a trois, and the book contains scenes with graphic sex and light bondage between Bells and the Zarides brothers.

Bells is a Phoenix and heir to the throne ruling over Phoenix House. As she prepares to become the new reigning monarch, she knows that even though she is secretly attracted to both Royce and Ronin, her mother would never approve of this type of relationship. Royce and Ronin are a rare supernatural species and the mystery of their origins and the emotional wounds both carry are revealed. Because of a mistake in the past that cost both brothers dearly, they are a bit reluctant to claim Bells for fear of being hurt again. All three characters share their POVs, and while the multiple perspectives do enrich the story, there were places where the switch in POV between Royce and Ronin is confusing and I’m not exactly sure which one of the brother’s POV is being expressed. While Bells and the brothers grapple with the growing intensity of their feelings for each other, Bells mother is making other plans for her daughter’s future.

Burned in Shadows picks up Jes and Draven’s story right where the first book ended. However, both Jes and Draven have undergone significant changes in their physicality and personalities, all thanks to the mysterious leader of the Red Sun Organization. Jes discovers that she is no longer human, but no one is exactly sure what she is now. Her unexplained powers continue to emerge and surprise everyone. Jes is now a “superwoman” with incredible strength and abilities that put her in the best position to go undercover to find Draven. Even though no one is certain of the long term effects of Jes’s alteration, I have to admit I like the new Jes. Her physical strength and improved fighting skills have boosted her confidence. She is determined to never be the frightened, weak, vulnerable woman she was when she first came to the Shadow Unit for help.
 photo tumblr_mj11qeopHe1qfeml0o1_500kickasschick_zps8e36149a.gif

Now, she will have to utilize every ounce of her physical and emotional strength to survive her immersion into the enemy’s camp. It is heart wrenching at times as she is forced to watch her beloved with another woman. Yes, Melissa is back and has sunk her claws deep into Draven. There aren’t many antagonists that truly bring out my anger, but Melissa’s character is one of those few who push my buttons, and I keep my fingers crossed that Jes will make her pay for the pain she has caused.
 photo tumblr_maeqrmYCzN1rxevt4o1_500_zps89304567.gif

I still have questions about how Melissa became involved with the Red Sun Organization and what role, if any, she played in Draven’s capture and alterations. Draven is a dreamy, lovable hero is the first book, but now he tries my patience.

 photo smackingguy_zps9ad401dc.gif

All I can say is there is no doubt that Jes loves him and I admire her persistence despite Draven’s cruelty and the hopelessness of the situation.

Eden does a great job with developing well-rounded central characters who are easy to care about and whose personal stories and secrets easily keep my interest. However, I feel this paranormal world still needs to be fleshed out. The Red Sun organization is still sketchy to me. I’m not sure about their purpose or motives and I’d like more details and description about the interactions between humans and the supernaturals who live among them. The series is set in Louisiana, a place steeped in supernatural lore, but so far there isn’t a strong connection between the setting, characters, and conflicts.

The action heats up in toward the end of the book with lots of unexpected twists that kept me eagerly turning the pages and the epilogue sets up the next story involving Gabe and leaves us hanging as we finally learn the truth about his identity. This is a series for mature audiences and contains violent and explicit sexual content.

Note: I received a proof of this book from the author for an honest review, so I did not consider any editing/proofreading issues as part of my criteria for the book’s rating.

Tigris Eden writes such amazing stories with super hot men and even more badass women. I was so excited to pick up Burned In Shadows after reading book one of the Shadow Unit series. Obviously, I was entrigued by Draven and Jes' relationship, but knowing this one would involve the ever hilarious Royce, his mysterious brother Ronin, and the fierce Bells had me jumping to start this book. It didn't disappoint. Would read again!

You ever read a sequel and then wish you hadn't, so that it could have retained it's potential awesomeness a little longer? Yeah, that's how I feel about this book. It could have been pretty good, but I finished it on a disappointed sigh.

First off, who was the book about--Jes and Draven or Bells, Ronin and Royce? The description says the latter trio, but at least half the book is dedicated to Jes and Draven's continuing drama and that left Bells, Ronin and Royce feeling like mere side characters, especially Bells. She seemed like little more than a puppet for the brothers to lust after. I didn't feel like I knew her at all and barely knew the brothers any better, mostly because all the actual action is dedicated to Jes and Draven. Bells, Ronin and Royce's 'action' is almost all bedroom play. How much personality can you glean from how well someone performs Cunnilius?

Problematically, despite being the second book dedicated to Jes and Draven, I didn't know either of them in this book either. I realise characters have to grow and change for a story to progress, but Jes and Draven seemed like...no, they were different people. They took different names, different speech patterns, different attitudes, different abilities, and different behaviours. There was nothing recognisable about them.

What's more, I didn't like the new them. Granted, that's understandable with Draven/Black. He turned into a baddie for a while (though I'm baffled about how). But Jes/Zea just mysteriously changed. I'm still waiting on a little clarity on that issue. And Zea was just too much to believe. She suddenly developed unbelievable powers. She became so powerful that the Shadow Unit accepted her as a member and within 6 weeks was sending her on serious undercover assignments. Really, does this organisation not have any training requirements or standardised entry requirements? How very convenient.

My biggest complaint however has to be the ending. I have no idea how or why the situation suddenly resolved itself. No one seemed to do anything to save the day, but somehow everyone was rescued.

Lastly, the book needs an editor, especially one who can address the to vs. too, passed vs. pasted, and comma placement issues. I noticed a few errors in book one, but this second book is riddled with them. It's also often really unclear who is speaking or even thinking. I often mention editing in reviews, but I'm actually generally pretty forgiving of it. I considered giving up on this one at one point.

I'm not trying to be mean here. Eden has developed an interesting world. I still liked all the different species interactions and the way they each held their cards close to their chest. I liked how they ragged on eachother, but still got the job done. I'm sure there will be those out there who will love the book. I'm thrilled for them. I want to see every story find it's perfect audience. Unfortunately I'm not it for this book.

Full Review posted on Book Lovin' Mamas

I was so excited to read Burned in Shadows because Tigris Eden left me hanging at the end of Enslaved in Shadows. I was one of those that was cussing at the end of Enslaved in Shadows. GRRRR!! If you have not read Enslaved in Shadows, I recommend you do so, before reading Burned in Shadows or maybe even this review. You will want to know about the sexy, dangerous twins, Royce ( LOVE HIM ) and Ronin. You will also want to know what happened to Jesminda and why she is going through what she is going through in Burned in Shadows.

I give this book 4.5 moons and highly recommend it to paranormal romance readers out there.

Looking forward to the next installment in the Shadow Unit series. Here’s hoping it is not very long because I need to find out about Gabe. =)

When you realise it's nearly 3am you know the story you are reading is fantastic. This is an eagerly awaited second book in the `Shadow Unit' series. The story continues with the Unit members, following the twins and Bells story at the same time as keeping the reader entranced in the Draven and Jes storyline from the first book. An Absolutely wonderful read for everyone old enough to be aware of the explicit, in parts, content on the story. Well done Tigris Eden for another exciting form of escapism.... Wanting the next book now......

First, I'm not entirely sure how two people, who have not read this book, rated it with one star. Really? Now then, I am one of the lucky ones who got to read this pre-lease, and I LOVE it! The relationships being broken and rebuilt, the friendships that progress, I feel like I'm a part of them all! Wonderful story telling by Tigris Eden!

The first book clearly had an editor, and this one did not. The story was fun, but the errors were really distracting. “Past” and “passed” were used interchangeably. Quotations were hardly ever closed. “Too” and “to” were used interchangeably. I hope she used an editor for book three because I enjoy the story.

OMG OMG OMG tears are about to come streaming down my cheeks because I NEED the third book in this series in my hands like right now. No lie right now or things are gonna get real up in here. Ugh that ending and death and big hulking yummy twins and why the bleep couldn't Melissa freaking DIE!!! That's not a spoiler right?

Anyway I need to let you all know my computer is hating me and so reviews will be put off for a while until I can get one fixed. Ugh I am going to be like 80 books in the review pile sh**ter if I don't get one soon since now all I have to do is read...not good folks not good.

Review soon Tigris Eden you had me from the first page!

I received a copy of Burned In Shadows for an honest review.

Holy toaster cakes I am in love with twins. Two very old and powerful twins who can read minds, turn into terrible beasts, and bleed blue blood. I know sounds sexy right? They are super delicious and I was wishing many times I was Bells (Belinda), especially during the naughty parts.

I was first introduced to Royce, Ronin, and Bells in Enslaved in Shadows and I wasn’t sure what I was going to think of them in Burned in Shadows. I was in for a surprise because wow all three were truly amazing characters with their dark and deadly pasts and devotion to each other. The twins are intense and always intent on pleasing Bells which will make readers jealous because wow they are yummy.

A twist in this book happens as Mr. Black a.k.a. Draven have gone all dark side and can’t remember his past or his mate and child. When an attack at the Shadow Unit brings Jes face to face with her mate who attacks her and then leaves, the unit sets out to bring him home. Jes goes undercover and sets out to make her man remember who she is.

Burned in Shadows is an intense and fast paced sequel that definitely left me craving more. After I put down the finished book I immediately cried because the third books release date is seriously far away.

The characters are all amazing. Jes is such a strong no nonsense character in Burned in Shadows and she is no longer afraid of everything that happened in her past. I fell in love with her character all over again because while she kicked major butt in the last book she is even more awesome in this Shadow Unit Sequel. Draven/ Mr. Black was irritating and I just wanted to shake him because he’s supposed to be a good guy but he wasn’t but he was. So many conflicting feelings he had but I still loved him. I didn’t think I was going to like Ronin because in the first book he seemed so broody but he was fantastic and my favorite out of the twins. Royce definitely has a hidden dark side which would be scary to behold but he was a great and protective character and I loved that. I knew I would love Bells. She’s sassy and strong but still sensitive and likeable. All in all every character in the Shadow Unit series as amazingly relatable and well written and that made for a great read.

I cannot wait for the next book. I hope it comes soon. Tigris Eden made a masterpiece with the Shadow Unit series so far and I cannot wait to see what she will do next. You need to pick up this series if you already haven’t.

Favorite Quote:
"Even if the entire team found out Ronin enjoyed Despicable Me as much as Faith did, no one would say a word. They'd watched the movie at least a dozen times. She'd caught Ronin imitation Gru's voice."

1/2/2025 I am listening to this on audio and I DO NOT like the narrator.

This was a little hard to read at first, but I finally was able to get into it. I was looking for book 2 to be a continuation of the first book and it kinda was, but it delved in to a whole other trio, mated pair,so it kinda wasn't.
Overall, it was a good story. The flow was fast-paced. The buildup was good. The plot was good and I like the twins in the end.

Favorite Lines “The pain was too much for her to do anything but lay broken against the wall. Was this all her fault? Had her rejection and not being able to tell him how she genuinely felt caused this?”

“Could she take on an entire organization to retrieve the man that belonged to her for all eternity? Could she bring Faith’s father home?”

“Belinda lifted her face to meet his and what she saw took everything she ever knew about relationships to a whole new level.”

“The feeling of being filled, possessed but cherished brought tears to her eyes.”

“Your daughter needs her father.” Jes said into the darkness. “I need you. Your team needs you Stone.”

“We’ll bump heads a lot in the future, I’m high maintenance, but I love you both. Anything that’s happened in the past is in the past. You want to talk about it, I’m here to listen. If you feel it’s not worth having a conversation over because you’re past all the bullshit. Then we don’t talk about it. But we will do whatever this thing is we have, together.”

“Sounds like a plan. But I gotta love you hard again, baby. Show you how much I love you. How hard I’ll love you in life and in this bed. Nothing is ever finished.”

“I love you with everything that I am Deva. You hold the best part of me.”

The book help so much! So much raw emotion, heartache, love, life, betrayal, and yumminess!
Not only does it show what Jes is going through to get Draven back but also how Bells, Royce, and Ronin finally admit what the have! I always love to watch when people realize how they feel about each other and OMG those three coming together is EXPLOSIVE! Bells is a Phoenix. Soon to be head of the enclave, she knows she can only be with her consort after she is reborn but what if the brothers are something more? The brothers are still broken from when they thought a human was there mate. The both want Bells! Something fiercely!
The Red Dawn has Draven in a way that is breaking Jes's heart! She will do anything to get him back! Including becoming a different person! Wow right!?
Ever since Red Dawn tortured her and did something to her she's no longer human, she's something else. No one knows what but she has some kick ass abilities now!
No one in the Shadow Unit is what the seem! They all our something more! There amazing!
The ending left the door open for MUCH more and I CAN'T wait to see what comes next!
Great story! As always this author creates an amazing story!

OMG!WOW, OMG, Finally, I had the pleasure, the honor to read and review the second book from this series and the wait was worth it!

The first book (Enslaved in Shadows) left me with a sour taste in my mouth because I couldn't believe the author, Tigris Eden, gave me that kind of ending. She's a master in taking and keeping the reader hooked! Believe me when I said that one book isn't enough!

I was eager to learn what happened to Drake and everything that's implying Jes and her daughter. I was so into their story that I didn't bother the other characters, but when I started to read Burned in Shadows, I soon discovered that Bells and the twins (Roy and Ronin) were also really intriguing!

OMG, the description of the scene between Bells, Roy and Ronin were phenomenal, I can't find a better word to express my total satisfaction toward the talented and imaginative Tigris Eden. I was totally drooling while reading the first sex scene between the trio and I had to ask myself how the author knew what I liked in this field. She knew all my weakness and I couldn't believe I was reading one of these perfect sexy scenes.

I'm not used to read about threesome, but Tigris Eden has a fine way to introduce this aspect and it fits well in this story. I didn't think I would love Bells story (because I was so into Drake and Jes) but in fact, I felt compelled by her strong nature and devotion to the twins and her own community.

I really appreciated the action surrounding the mysterious Mr. Black and Drake destiny. The fact that Jes has develop new abilities is awesome give her a bigger statue in the gang.

This series is a must if you love paranormal romance and if you want to try something new that will spice up your night, Burned in Shadows is part of one of the best series I had the chance to read!

*Since I did the re-editing of this book, I cannot speak of any errors I may have or may not found*

Burned in Shadows picks up where Enslaved in Shadows left off. Draven has been hi-jacked by the Red Sun Organization, Jesminda is learning more and more about the things Marcus did to her, Faith is learning to adapt to her wolfy heritage, and Belinda is preparing to become the next Matria and accept who exactly her consort is fated to be. Enemies the reader thought were dead pop up and show their faces again, Draven's predicament causes more then a few choked up moments and a LOT of anger. Enri proves he's not entirely what people think he is, though he makes you want to punch him a few times too.

Emotions run high in this second book of the acclaimed Shadow Unit Series. There's many times the reader will be angry enough to scream due to the predicament Draven and Jes find themselves in, but there's plenty of "aw" moments too.

We learn more about everybody's favorite Feral, Blue-Blood twins, Royce and Ronin, and I must admit, I have a soft spot for Ronin after reading his tale and seeing how he's grown into who he is now. Even if he did eat that dude's brain in the first book.

As always, Tigris Eden has brought her world shockingly alive. There's no dull moments, no times when the story slows enough for the reader to get bored, and there are twists at every turn. There's a major, major cliffhanger at the end of this one. It's cloaked as being nothing, but trust me when the reader hits it, they'll know. Rest assured, I've been informed THAT cliffhanger is dealt with in book 3: Redeemed.

While I can't wait to find out what happens in Redeemed, I'm still looking forward to reading about Faith's birthday party in book 2.5: Bonded in Shadows.

I give this book 5 of 5 paws

The battle against the Red Sun organization continues with another explosive smackdown in this thrilling paranormal. Jes goes undercover to get more information on the organization and of course to look for Draven. Meanwhile, Bells time has come to ascend as Matria of House Phoenix and she wants Royce and Ronin as her consorts, but her mother and brother have other plans for all of them.

This steady to fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on the edge with suspense, drama, action and romance. The author brings the story to life with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination and the well orchestrated drama and suspense draw the reader deeper into the story that includes some exciting and believable action scenes. The strong compelling characters from the previous book returns to captivate readers and bewitch them into wanting to know more.

The attraction between Bells and the twins explode from every page with lots of red hot passion and the sex scenes including m/f/m scenes scorches the reader with vibrant intensity. The relationship is full of drama as Bells position won’t allow her to take either Royce or Ronin as her consort, much less both and the twins have their own issues that stem from the pasts that complicates matters even further. The reader can’t help but get caught up in their story and of course Jes and Draven’s story draw them even deeper.

The past has a way and coming back and kicking you when you are down as these captivating characters find out in this thrilling and fascinating story with lots of complex and surprising twists that keeps the readers on their toes. I must say that while I enjoyed the first one, I like this one better, but without the first one the story wouldn’t be what it is and I am looking forward to seeing what happens next for the Shadow unit in the ongoing fight.

4 ½ STARS

Burned In Shadows:

Whew! The Jes & Draven pairing was a 2 story arc, even though this second book focuses on Bells, Royce & Ronin. Now, even though I’ve said this is the second book in a 2 story arc, it can be read as a standalone story – but I really recommend reading “Enslaved In Shadows” first to enhance the experience for reading “Burned In Shadows”. Now, I did receive a copy of this in exchange for an unbiased review and the author herself told me it could be read as a standalone – but Snarky Mom recommends reading in order.

Royce and Ronin are twins, looking for their mate. They once thought they had found a mate but she died, so they are leery of claiming another. However, they feel that Jes’ friend, Bells, is that such shifter mate. Bells doesn’t think she can enter a mating, though, since she is about to become leader of her phoenix clan. The story of the vampire blood is also continued / resolved (?) and we find out more about the mysterious Mr. Black.

Be aware that there is m/f/m (no sibling) sexual situations, so if that is a hard limit for you, you may not enjoy this story. Tigris Eden creates a fantastical world filled with shifters, vampires and urban dialogue to keep it all fun in this 280 page novel. Next up will be Gabe & Xee in Redeemed in Shadows!

This book has SO MUCH going on! It’s pretty well done though, it manages to not be a clusterf***. I’ll need to absorb every word of this series I possibly can because of all that’s going on and my need for answers, but it doesn’t really leave me hanging either, if that makes sense,

This book picks up shortly after Enslaved In Shadows, which I also completely couldn’t put down. Jes has evolved, we get to see more of Belinda and many other characters we were introduced to in Book 1.

It manages to combine mythology with modern ideas of some of the types of people you find in urban fantasy, and it’s all explained and done in a way that makes perfect sense. It’s completely brilliant and I couldn’t help but stop to appreciate Eden’s skill at times.

I read an ARC, so I cannot comment on editing, proofing or formatting. But content alone, it’s a fun wild ride packed with adventure, scandal, betrayal, fierce love, burning heat, adventure, legend, crime and so much more. Strongly recommend.

4 stars.

Once again, I really like the vast array of different types of paranormal creatures. I love the world, the entire concept of the novel, and the idea of the Shadow Unit.

However, although the editing/grammatical issues of the first book have improved in this one, it isn't by much. The Red Sun organization switches halfway through to The Red Hand, and then back to Sun again by the end. Oftentimes it's hard to figure out who was speaking or thinking, and sometimes what is going on jumps wildly to something else.

I will probably again continue with this series despite this large issues just because Ms. Eden has GREAT ideas! I just wish she could get an editor!!

Burned in Shadows was a great read. In this book we get the rest of Jess and Draven’s story and Bells, Royce and Ronin’s story and they all get their HEA in this book. Royce had me laughing from the moment he appeared in the first book and this book is no different. I enjoyed seeing the softer side of Ronin. Melissa finally got what she deserved and the some members of the Shadow Unit are still a mystery as is powers they hold. The book ends with Gabe dropping the bomb on who he really is, leaving those who enjoy this series wanting to know his story. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a good paranormal read and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

Wow! This installment of the Shadow Unit series was fabulous!
The story of Jes and Draven continues in this one, which makes me happy because we were left with a cliff hanger with the last story. I love Jes's determination concerning Draven.
Bells is tough, but has a soft heart where her men are concerned. She doubts herself and Royce & Ronin in regards to their feelings. The scenes between them are HOT!!!
She has a huge responsibility to her people and I'm sure we will see more of that in the future.
I can't wait to see where Tigris goes with this series!

I give it 4 1/2 Stars........I loved the first one and this one is just as good. Only problem was many errors. Words in wrong place or punctuation errors or words that shouldn't be there.
This story is about Draven & Jes and also Bells, Royce & Ronin. Jes goes undercover to find Draven who has no idea who or what he was before.
Bells, Royce & Ronin are realizing they are mates. She has to go back to her home place to take her place as the next ruler of the Enclave. While trying to save Jes & Draven.
Can't wait for the next one!

First, I would like to thank the author Tigris Eden for giving me this book for an honest review. This is the second book in the series and I love the story, the character development is great as is the world building. I love these characters they have so much depth to them. The relationships go through hell and then get rebuilt, continuing friendships, what is not to love about his book. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Just not the book for me... I see all these great reviews and I tried, I really did. Maybe because I started on book 2 but I found myself inundated with details for a world that really just held no interest. The first 50 pages were mostly a POV of a non main character(for this one). The main characters in this one held no interest for me either. I always hate to rate a book so low of have a non positive review I just couldn't get into this one. Hopefully others will have better luck!

I'm not sure I liked this story as much as the first one. Bells' story wasn't as good I was hoping. Her relationship was more strange and disjointed then anything. The story continues to fill out but we still don't get the whole picture. With every answer more questions spring up. Overall I still enjoyed the series and I like where she is taking it. She builds interesting worlds with different characters.
