About the author

Jay Wile learned about his love for chemistry when his dedicated parents bought him his first chemistry set. Many stink bombs and a few explosions later, he was hooked! Although he loved chemistry, he also had many other interests. For a while, he thought about becoming a concert pianist, but unfortunately, his fingers were not long enough (no kidding!). As he was finishing up his high school years, he became extremely interested in the theater and began to pursue a career in acting. Partly because he learned the science behind some of the special effects of the plays in which he performed, he eventually went back to his first love: chemistry.

He went to the University of Rochester in upstate New York to study chemistry, and while he was there, he began working on nuclear chemistry experiments. He became so fascinated with nuclear chemistry that he stayed at the University of Rochester and got a Ph.D. in that field. For several years, he did research in the field under the auspices of the Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation. This research led to several grants and many publications. While doing research, Dr. Wile was also an assistant professor of chemistry.

Dr. Wile's love of science is demonstrated by the many awards he has won for excellence in teaching and research. He has also presented numerous lectures on the topics of Nuclear Chemistry, Christian Apologetics, Homeschooling, and Creation vs. Evolution. He has published 30 articles on these subjects in nationally-recognized, peer-reviewed journals, and has 9 books to his credit, most of which belong to the award-winning "Exploring Creation with" series of junior-high and high-school science courses.

This is my science book for 9th grade. I really like it so far! I'm almost done with module six.


Going to start module eight right after Christmas break....halfway done!!!!! =)

HATE HATE HATE THIS BOOK RIGHT NOW, on module ten.....My goodness I can't wait until I'm done, I will obviously not grow up to be a physicist!

I did this book for my 7th grade science. This book was so amazing! I love how in depth it is and how it is constantly referring back to God and his creation. Can’t wait to do biology next year!

Physical Science (CCT) for 9th grade science

When I was a freshman in high school I took a course called "Earth Science". It was a contender for my favorite science course. This book is the analogous course for my daughter's schooling. I enjoyed reading it, remembering lessons I had all those many years ago and picking up a few tidbits of information I had either forgotten or never learned before. Like its predecessor, Exploring Creation With General Science, this text is very readable, has a good variety of experiments and a companion CD-ROM. 'Tis well worth checking out. Like the other books in the series, it also has a creationist worldview and occasionally slips in some propaganda. In fact, Dr. Wile committed one of my pet peeves in that respect. At one point he talks about James Clerk Maxwell, the physicist who demonstrated that electricity and magnetism are the same force. Dr. Wile states that Maxwell was one of the three most important figures in the history of science, along with Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein. He makes sure to point out that Maxwell was a Christian, something Dr. Wile also did with Newton in a previous chapter. About Einstein's beliefs, however, nary a word is said. C'mon, Doc. If a scientist's religious convictions are relevant to the study of the history of science, you should cover all the scientists in question. It doesn't take any glory from God to admit that unbelievers can be smart, too. .... Um, okay, end of rant.

This book gives wonderful, in depth teaching on physical science with a christian world-view. Written in an engaging manor, it is easy to remember and fun to learn. Wonderful to engage an interest in science in older children.

I really like these books(except for the physics/math)! I love that they show how evolution is impossible and how they always come back to the fact that we are created!
