War erupts on Arist, a frozen world in the borders of known space. Lieutenant Damion Witzko and the Concord Marines charge in to prevent the conflict from escalating offworld, but soon discover that an even darker threat awaits them.
Roland James Green is an American science fiction and fantasy writer and editor. He has written as Roland Green and Roland J. Green; and had 28 books in the Richard Blade series published under the pen name 'Jeffrey Lord'.
This is the 2nd book in the Star Drive series but most of these books can be read as stand alone because they take place in the Star Drive universe but are otherwise unrelated. In this one the Concord Marines are sent to the frozen world of Artist to stop a war between the Weren and humans, both of which are colonists there. On the way their spaceship is attacked by the mysterious Klicks, a race of aggressive insect like beings, who attack without warning and take no prisoners and refuse to communicate. On planet things are not what they seem and the cause of the war is unexpected when they finally reason it out. Also the main character is Lieutenant Damion Witziko who's Captain is out to ruin his career and almost does so. The main failing with this book is that it never really explains why this is so. I do however recommend this book if you are a fan of Space Opera/Military Science Fiction.
