¡Me ha gustado mucho!
Y he de decir que en vez de erótica, debería decir romance.
Me gustó la relación entre los 2 personajes, del sacrificio y todo.
Me hubiera gustado que fuera mas larga la historia, para disfrutarla.

House of Saints by a.c. Mason

House of Saints is a fabulously written paranormal, historical romantic story with a mysterious slant. The elements Ms. Mason embeds throughout this story has all the qualities of an adult fairy tale of course. The element of paranormal, history and survival are creatively portrayed. House of Saint by a.c. Mason is a book of acceptance, beauty, innocence, and how loving others more than self impacts our world. Characteristics associated with heroics plays out in a place where less than honorable things occur on a daily basis and for Simone it is just a means to an end.

Saints by all intense and purposes are ordinary individuals who do extraordinary things sacrificing their own personal needs and dreams in an effort of making life better for someone incapable of taking care of themselves. “Saints” are bearers of truths, powerful messages, possess strong sense of love, courage and generosity. These sacrifices occur when they barely have enough to keep themselves alive.

There are many “saints” surrounding us daily and we are unaware of them and what they endure to make life better for someone. This sacrifice can be done by all of us but the question is who among us is willing to step up to the plate? Who is dedicated enough to accept the responsibility that will be extremely difficult emotionally, morally and physically? Often these special characteristics in a belief system of the greater good, faith and love are those individuals who are committed to handling the difficult tasks unbeknownst to others. “Saints” go about performing these generous acts of love without fanfare.
Hmm, wow, all those people who lived before me hundred and thousands of years ago and what they endured to make it possible for me to be who I am today they are my “saints”. You know many of these “saints” just think back throughout history regardless of where you live or the origin of your ancestors. How they tolerated injustice, torture and numerous indignities during those horrific times for us...”saints”

In London, 1890 in the month October often associated with the days of darkness, frightening Halloween spirits and the dreary fog, damp and raw days; a saint moved about unaware to others.

Simone Baden: Ms. Mason's key character in The House of Saints has been mistreated and loved. Praying to God without ceasing to remain faithful, hopeful while she copes with the life struggles. Struggles so often on the backs of many women. Tirelessly being about “ a woman's work” in an effort to care for those she love.
Simone is a gorgeous mulatto virgin, innocent and pure young woman possessing more strength and tenacity than most people. Simone embodies the undaunted heart and soul exactly what our world needs more of: caring, selflessness, compassion and a fearlessness. Simone is the caretaker of her two younger brothers; Charles and Louis. Charles and Louis are darling secondary characters providing the steam that keep's Simone train fueled moving forward. Since the death of their father the family of three have been living hand to mouth. Unfortunately, the small amount of money their father left runs out leaving these well behaved young boys and their big sister one moment from homelessness and the boys off to an orphanage. Jobs were scarce for a woman of color like Simone. Just like today, people with jobs and have plenty to meet their needs and desires often harbor ill feelings and disdain for healthy people who are less fortunate, classifying them as lazy and worthless because of their current circumstances. This is clearly displayed in The House of Saints.

Through the weeds of temptation Simone will do almost anything to keep her family whole and safe as long as it does not result in her to losing favor in the eyes of God, her little brothers or break a death bed promise to her father.

Eravas mysteriously walking temptation, strong, muscular body, commanding swagger of power, deep mystifying, black eyes, well educated and a refined gentleman. This man is aligned with Simone making him the other key character in this devilish, sensuous story of unselfishness. Eravas has a distant, aloft demeanor, totally irresistible to women of all ages but cares nothing for the women in his charge. Simone has that specialness about her that move Eravas like no one else. Eravas requires loyalty and demands complete obedience from his students. He instructs every women working in the House of Saints on the power associated with catering to the lust of the flesh which keeps their affluent clients as regulars.

Madam of the brothel called the House of Saints; Veronica is refereed to as Saint Veronica. Saint Veronica, beautiful beyond belief, richly adorned, laced with evilness all unfamiliar to a praying young woman as Simone. Saint Veronica, is of course, is no saint by any means but has a hypersensitivity for the innocent, allowing her to hone in on struggling women with pure souls and extremely desperate. Once these women are in Saint Veronica's crosshairs she then proposes a deal they can not refuse.

Simone grants Eravas permission allowing him to rearranged her with his creative love for her. Therefore Eravas's heart was touched by Simone's sincerity, acceptance, generous spirit and compassion that he does inconceivable actions associated in his world which sealed the story with a HEA.

Ms. Mason inserts into all of her characters regardless role in her story the necessary wire and fire that wraps their precious talents creating a commanding plot and memorable conflict resolution. While reading House of Saints I could feel the deep emotions and magnetic forces of Simone, Eravas, Saint Veronica and the brothers as the events in their lives changed.
The visuals and sense of touch are realistic from the décor to the temperature and textures of the floor.
Her inclusion of races, cultures and beliefs are the factors that I enjoy so much about Ms. Mason's writing.

I found myself revisiting segments of the story because of its intoxicating impact on the sensual sensors Ms. Mason incorporates in the story. Ms. Mason has a wonderful gift using language in the dialogue and words that made elements and events pop, creating vivid sights and sounds for the reader. The variety of textures throughout The House of Saints played with my psyche for more than a couple of nights. Ms. Mason takes the reader back to London in the 1800's with grace and talent few writers can do with such ease. Ms. Mason technique hooks the reader from the first sentence and is so intoxicating that I forgot that I avoid the historical romance genre not to mention characters as creatures reflecting elements from the dark side. Ms. Mason slipped me a “mickey” . (wink)
I think Ms. Mason gentle baptism into her dark creatures and their sexy behaviors may be converting me to vampires, their darkness, along with their beautiful sensuous seductions.

The Blurb:

In 1890"s London, young Simone Baden is left with responsibility of her two brothers. Being a woman of color with very little experience, she cannot provide for them through honest means and is soon desperate. From the women at the boarding house, she hears of a brothel that caters to the unusual- supernaturals. WIth the ache of hunger growing in her brothers' bellies and the threat of eviction looming, she has no choice but to barter her body and freedom.

Eravas Lilu is an ancient spirit of desire who excels at what he does- teaching the arts of pleasure to women- but Simone is different. With a male and female helper, decadent instruction follows to mold his charge into Magdalene. Enthralled by her inner beauty, he finds himself at a crossroads.

Shall he let her new profession take her soul, or give up his own in exchange for hers...?

My Take:

I loved this. It's as simple as that. It's a very quick read and I couldn't put it down. Many people may have issues with the heroine simply for the reason of her choice of profession to save her family, however despite her profession she never ends up giving herself away for money and for me, this is why I didn't have a problem with the heroine. She was put into a predicament that many people can sympathize with and living in different times, she does what she has to to make sure her little brothers are cared for.

I love how right from the start Eravas is enthralled with her though he won't admit it to her, flat out telling her that he will undoubtedly grow tired of her after a while as he does with each of his new charges, but Simone refuses to believe him. She brings out a side of him that Eravas didn't know he had and shows her the ultimate pleasure that one can experience.

I love how Simone brings out the good in Eravas that he never thought he had and I loved the ending very much.

The only problem I really had was how easily she accepted her new calling in life, yes she was shy with different things at first, but I would have liked to see a little bit more of an inner struggle with her and her new occupation and with what she is now meant to experience.

I recommend this story to anyone looking for a quick and sexy as all hell read and look forward to more of a.c. Mason's works.

My Rating: 4/5 Lattes

All My Best,

I'm a bit of an a.c. Mason fan as is but House of Saints brought her story-telling and writing to a whole new level. a.c. Mason tends to push limits as an author which is part of what makes her works so interesting. Her stories are complex with multiple layers and angles, definitely not run of the mill. House of Saints is told from the point of view of Simone, a young woman left to care for her two younger brothers as they slip into a state of poverty. Desperate in her plight, she enters the house of saints, prepared to give up her body in exchange for her familiy's well-being. There she meets her teacher, Eravas. Simone is innocent and endearing whereas Eravas admits he is anything but. House of Saints is a fast read basically because I couldn't put the book down once I started. Still, the complexity in this short novella leaves the reader feeling fufilled by a great story. Thanks again Ms. Mason.

A.C. Mason's House of Saint is a pretty good read. I loved the cover art and the title. The
premise of a woman of color working in a brothel that caters to supernatural creatures during the 1800s was intriguing. One of my pet peeves with most historical romances is that there is a shortage of novels featuring women of color. So, I’m quick to scoop up most stories of this kind. The sex scenes were steamy, yet a bit on the light side considering this is an erotic novel that largely takes place in a brothel. I found myself neither liking nor disliking the hero and heroine. However, I yearned for more information about the other supernatural creatures that frequented the brothel. One problem I had was with the dialogue. The dialogue is "cheesy" for the most part. Still, House of Saints is a good quick read. (Originally Reviewed for Risque Reviews)

I really liked the story but there are just to many points that influence my rating. One is that for being a book taking place in the 1890's I didn't feel like I was there at all. The form of writing just wasn't to old world.

Then there is the fact that I wanted more of the story. I don't know specifically what but there was something missing on it. There is too the fact that Simone was in a house that serviced "mythical" creatures but she was mostly confined to her room.

I did like the connection between Simone and Eravas. It was beautiful how even as he teach her and try to keep everything professional he ended up caring and eventually falling for her. And how she didn't let him hide from her.
