"Investigates the ace-investigator's syndicated development, her character, lore and adventures, finding means to identify and explore and heal the hurts that women and men carry into adulthood. Using Jungian themes, the original texts and first-hand accounts of the effects of the girl sleuth on people's lives, Betsy Caprio skillfully and wittily plays detective, finding a trail of clues leading to self-knowledge."
If you loved Nancy Drew when you were a child, you will love this book. The author investigates the series from a personal, cultural and psychological perspective. I could relate to several of the first-hand accounts from women who learned about being a strong, independent woman from Nancy Drew. Loved it!
Ugh! A look at Nancy Drew through the eyes of Carl Jung. A thorougly disappointing physological analysis. Sounds like it could have been a Masters' thesis.
