The title seems like something I would have been interested in, but properly academic writing makes everything dull. I recall this not at all! I can't even give it a rating.

My notes say:
lines of inquiry from Gibbon on Roman toleration of religion/superstition
Did Rome really promote/enforce religious liberalism?
According to Roman public opinion, Rome published magic because magic was effective, not because it was superstitious.
Gibbon's England was not tolerant and was superstitious.
