Abby Green spent her teens reading Mills & Boon romances. She then spent many years working in the Film and TV industry as an Assistant Director. One day while standing outside an actor's trailer in the rain, she thought: "there has to be more than this". So she sent off a partial to Mills & Boon. After numerous rewrites, they accepted her first book and an author was born. She lives in Dublin, Ireland and you can find out more here www.abby-green.com
I read all the Abby Green books, some books are so good and some are wall bangers, hhmm how do i rate this book it was not a wall banger but not a good book either
Salman-Jamilah their relationship lacked chemistry and passion was missing from sexual scenes,Salan has suffered quiet horrible things both physically n emotionally which has made him dark and loner,he wants to punish himself for things he did when he was 8 years old but there was no choice his palace was invaded by rebels and they had thrown him and his parent n brother in dungeon, they took Salman with them for 3 months and tortured him and made him do things which he did'nt want to do but if he did'nt complied with their wishes they will kill his parents n brother, all these experience has devastated him from inside but never uttered a word to anyone Salman never spends time with anyone from then but only smiles and shares little smiles and convo with Jamilah
Jamilah has known Salman when he was 12 n she was 6,from childhood she was first fascinated then she was attracted and then it developed in love, they meet in Paris where thet spent 3 weeks together and Salman takes her virginity and innocence,Jamilah being in love things this is her happily ever after and also expresses her love for Salman that is when everything crashes and all her dreams are shattered
Salman purposely n cruelly rejects Jamilah, let's her think he is done with her and he is moving on,Jamilah is shattered she moves back and she comes to knows she is pregnant but she loses the baby in first trimester, she never says anything about her relation with Salman n the pregnancy to anyone \,they meet again after 6 years and Salman -Jamilah both know their attraction is still there and there's unfinished business between them
I was unsatisfied with the book, though Salman reveals and shares his dark past with Jamilah (that part is really heart touching a 8 year Salman suffers so much),that is when Jamilah -Salamn once again start their relation and Jamilah reveals she was pregnant and lost the child and Salman thinks she was pregnant with another man's child cause he has done Vasectomy
Salman thinks cause of his dark past if anyone comes to know about it they will be disgusted so he always acts so rudely n is a loner, just wanted to ask when Salman is so confident and determined that nothing ever can change him no love,no bonding no care or any friendship then why did he took Jamilah's virginity seduced her,he should have kept his distance,he had no right to destroy Jamilah's love like
I dunno somehow i never connected with the story and the characters,i was very unsatisfied with the book Okay read
The story had SO much potential. The bones were there - but the characters felt awkward as if they were forced to play-out their respective roles. Given their backstories I should have been overwhelmed emotionally as a reader. I just couldn't connect. Perhaps it's my pet-peeve regarding Heroes sleeping with other women after sleeping with the Heroine that turned me off. I have to be upfront about that... All I can say being told how they felt just didn't jive with what came across. I don't want to discourage anyone from reading this book as Abby Green is a very talented author I can't help wonder sometimes if authors have such tight deadlines that they don't have time enough to live with their characters and discover those nuances that make for believable & memorable books. I'm truly sad when a story like this doesn't live up to it's potential.
The story begins with the heroine Jamilah visiting the hero Salman's apartment and finding him kissing another woman. Salman then tells Jamilah (rather cruelly) their 3 week affair is over and that he never cared for her. Five years later Jamilah is working as stable manger for the high Sheikh, Salman's brother. When they meet again sparks fly, and Salman pursues Jamilah in order to have another affair, to which she gallantly refuses! Eventually though they both surrender to their mutual attraction and begin to have an affair, however as they both get more and more involved with each other secrets are revealed, which threaten to bring the affair crashing down once again.
Phew, the sexual tension and chemistry between the two characters is just, well, I can't think of words to eloquently describe it! But it was intense, and hot! Those of you who have read Abby's books in the past will know that her books are full of a myriad of different emotions and characters with deep, dark secrets that, when revealed, shock and add more layers of emotion to the story, and this book has this in spades! I have to admit, when I first started reading the book I hated Salman, I thought he was a bit of a bastard, but as the story progressed I found myself warming to him! He is a true tortured soul and written beautifully by Abby. Jamilah was also a good character, she had real backbone by refusing Salman's attempts to seduce her, and even when she does succumb she still manages to keep hold of her independence, a great female character. Add into this beautifully described surroundings and scenes and you have got a really good book!
I enjoyed this sequel to Breaking the Sheikh's Rules and I liked the fact we saw Nadim and Iseult again though sadly not as much as I would have liked.
Jamilah and Salman's story was full of angst and multiple tropes appeared but I still enjoyed it. I really disliked Salman at the beginning because of the horrible way he treated Jamilah in Paris, but as his story emerged, I forgave him and started to like him a lot better. Jamilah was no doormat and she gave Salman a hard time and called him out, but she also showed real empathy for him as well. I thought the sex scenes were really well done - emotional and erotic - and I thoroughly enjoyed their story.
Lots of angst and drama. The H was traumatized when his family was kidnapped when he was eight years old and the kidnappers singled him out to torture and break. He kept his secrets for decades and kept his distance from everyone.
The h grew up with the H and his brother. Their parents died in the same plane crash. The H was there for the h during that time and she fell in love with him from then.
When they met as adults, he had an affair with her. She thought it was a relationship. He devastated her world when she found him with another woman.
Six years later, they are forced back together and he wants another affair but she hates him. This time around, she is older and better prepared to deal with him and he finds himself sharing more of himself with her. Secrets are told. Emotions shared. And the ubiquitous HEA ensues.
A thoroughly enjoyable read. Lots to keep your interest and keep you reading. The H’s growth is a beautiful thing to witness. The h broke down walls within him and he didn’t even realize it. A lovely ending too.
another tortured hero in HPlandia, another heroine who remains chaste when her one true love boots her out, for her own good, of course. a miscarriage for the heroine, and the hero has had a vasectomy years before--go figure!
I usually like everything that Abby Green writes. But this second book in her desert series, was not one of my favorites.
Jamilah and Salman have known each other all their lives. They grew up together in a desert kingdom. Both meet again in Paris where they are currently residing. She is studying Veterinary medicine, he manages hedge funds. They have a brief three week passionate affair. Given he was tortured and beaten as a child, he believes he can never love anyone, so he brutally forces her away pretending to have slept with another woman. Five years later they meet up and find that they are still very attracted to one another. Jamilah is wiser, and knows that if she starts anything again with Salman, she will just be left hurting. So she does everything in her power to avoid him. Of course, Salman is hot for the pursuit. He cannot get her out of his system. I have to agree with one reviewer in that he is an extremely selfish man. I think the one positive in the story is the sexual chemistry and the love scenes. They were pretty explosive. But unfortunately Jamilah is portrayed as way too weak, and Salman too selfish to really make this an amazing love story.
The Sultan's Choice is the third book in the series and is definitely the best and strongest of the three!
This would be your average run of the mill Mills & Boon except for two things.
1. Both the lead characters were from the same culture. Usually if you've got a sheikh he's paired with a lively Caucasian lady. In this case she's only half caucasian. :p and
2.The issue regarding why Salman is so distant and cold and breaks Jamilah's heart is interesting and certainly unique and novel. Without giving it away, I would just like to say that it's been an issue that recently came up in social media and caused quite a furor.
I thoroughly enjoyed this well-written, entertaining, passionate book by Abby Green. I’ve never read a Mills & Book/ Harlequin book before, but a friend recommended this to me as a perfect read for a cold, wintry Christmas. And I really enjoyed following the journeys of the tortured, irresistible hero, Salman, and the sultry, beautiful heroine, Jamilah. Secrets of the Oasis is set in the exotic, fictional middle-eastern country of Merkazad and the story takes us through deserts, Sheik’s expansive stables, exclusive Parisian hotels and of course, many bedrooms! Let me just say that my eyes were truly opened as I read the passionate love scenes(!), and followed the explosive trysts and encounters of the two main characters. But aside from the good fun, there is also a deeper story which explores the difficulties Salman and Jamilah have encountered along their paths to each other. It’s all there – passion, heartache, intrigue, suspense - and a great ending. Congratulations to Ms Green for a great read, to be recommended.
This is this sequel to Abby Green's Breaking the Sheikh's Rules. I liked this one at least as well as the first one, and I always enjoy books more when the other characters have a little more back story. I wish Nadim and Iesult's present story had played a larger role in the plot (vs. shipping them off to Ireland for nearly all of the story). The hero had a tortured past, and the heroine allowed too much of her past to be tied up in unrequited love for hero, but despite all that there was a surprising amount of tender loving and care.
The sex scenes were more explicit and descriptive than most HPs, which works for me but may not for others.
I like this author's writing style better than some other HP authors because there's a better balance of actual vs. inner dialogue.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a second chance at love story. Jamilah, and Salman have known each other all their lives. They held hands when both their parents died, when Jamilah was still a little girl. Salman was always there for her. Years later they met in Paris, and had a fling. Jamilah was in love with Salman then. Salmen was in love too, but fought what he was feeling. He was not ready to embrace the strong emotions he felt for Jamilah. He broke her heart, and sent her away. Years later they met again, and Salman is drawn to her, and wants her more than he has ever wanted another woman. The chemistry is there, sizzling between the couple. I really admired Jamilah. she was a very strong Heroine. She didn't fall at his feet, and forgive him right away. She made him work for it. He courted her, and romanced her. This really was a sweet book!
Um, no. Real spoilers ahead. . . . . . . . .i was rereading this . . . . . No to an affair, then he dumps her and goes on fu*#ing women for the next many years, then she falls back in bed with him. ewww. I don’t care the reason is to save her from him “With an effort he forced his mind away from the disturbing fact that in the past year no woman had managed to arouse his once insatiable libido”, aw, this is a year after bumping to her at a party where she has another date. Poor him, only 5 years of fu%*ery then, not six.
Over and out, maybe for good with AG. This is a familiar trend with her and oh, so, tiresome.

I find it difficult to enjoy and story when I don't care about the characters and I never really did with this story. I thought the way the H treated the h was pretty unforgivable and she just let him. And while she made a token effort to stay away from him when he returned, there was no feeling to it at all. This just didn't do it for me.
Abby Green is one of the few Harlequin-like authors that I'll read. I'm always happy with her books, though sometimes I'd like a little more dramatics in her books. This hero kind of pissed me off and the reason for his "darkness" was a lame excuse for how he betrayed her when she was in college, but in the end he loved her like crazy and that's all we really want out of a romance anyways.
i liked it n did not like it at the same time. the start was really gud but then i was very disappointed. jamilah was a douche bag, a puppy dog after salman!!his words actually..even if he hadn't meant it, just said dat 2establish a distance bet them, well he was right. i dun't understand how these heroines can't help themselves but let the hero use them 4 sex bcoz they r in love.
What happened to Abby Green?! Her books used to be sweet and exotic and cute. I feel like writing about Middle Eastern cultures is out of her comfort zone so the stories become overly cheesy and filled with too many verbs. Heaving, trembling, dizzying...ugh.
This was an emotional read Salman had a hard past to overcome but with Jamilah's love he starts to break through some of the pain. Jamilah has pain of her own but he is a big part of it. She tries to fight it but her love for him is too strong.
Another great read written by Abby Green. I love how she gives you the back story of 6 yrs and 1 yr ago before beginning the current events. Really makes you vested in the story and sucks you in where you feel as though you are a part of their lives (a fly on the wall so to speak). Loved it!
Abby Green, por mucho, está que le roba el favoritismo (en mi) a Lynne Graham... ¡Que novela! Jamilah es un excelente heroína. Mujer decidida... Aunque la carne es débil xD
Usually, I'm very forgiving of these romance novels. Yes, the man will most likely be a bit of douche if not there won't be much of a story. With the hero of this one, though, Salmon it just seemed like the writer went all the way to make him unlikable.
She tries to make him sympathetic through his traumas and the things he went through when he was younger but I just can't get into his characterization. Jamilah is bit more likeable but considering who she was written with it doesn't say much.
This was a very good book, the characters were very well written with a great plot. The h and H had grown up together but due to his childhood issues, the H had cruelly rejected the h. He had seduced her then sent her away. Years later the H sought out the h, he wasn’t over her. They were able to find their way back to each other.
I actually read third before the second one. No big deal but still. That's cause they aren't marked. Salman is Nazir's younger brother and Jamilah we first see as head of the royal stables and Iseult's friend who is somehow psychologically damaged from some encounter with Salman (that's what we know from the first book). And here author shows us what happened years ago and what is happening now. This actually is great. I love it when we are not only told what happened by heroes, but actually get to see it in a flashback. That makes it all more real.
It was fun to read. And I always find stories about modern days' sheikhs entertaining. I guess that actually qualifies as one of my kinks.
