Tony Conte, ex-Special Forces medic and martial arts expert turned nurse, is stretched to his limit when the legal and medical professions’ traditional combat zone turns deadly. He has two passions in life, his family and his career, and both are threatened. Faced with a mountain of charges and counter charges, Tony plunges into the fray. The battle moves from the courtroom to the emergency room and catches Tony in the middle. When the person dearest to him becomes ill, he’s distracted, but Tony can only keep his wife’s doctor out of jail if he can stay out of jail himself.
kinda written like a script for a movie or tv show. Something is just off about it although I did enjoy reading about the places and streets around Broward county as I lived and worked there for 15 years and one of my kids was born in Margate (not mentioned) but just a little east of Coral Springs, which was mentioned and drove on the Sawgrass Express Way often as it travels out west of Pompano Beach. Also, remember getting early one Saturday to the Sawgrass Mill, which was mentioned to get a Power Rangers Halloween costume for my son , who was 3 at the time, that being the only place to purchase it.
I actually purchased three (3) titles by Gregg E. Brickman as part of the book selections for my Mother for Christmas 2012 as each of us gives each other new 'picks'/selections as part of our annual holiday gift traditions. I discovered via reading on the Internet that the author was a retired nurse turned mystery author. As my Mother and I are both voracious readers, and my Mother is also a retired nurse, the titles seemed a 'perfect discovery'. Mother read the titles first and now it was my turn. We both enjoyed the book and would recommend the title to others. One must remember that this is a fairly 'new' author and there is 'evidence'. For example, as a former editor, it is always a bit discouraging to me and more importantly distracting to find copy editing errors throughout the book. Another set of eyes should have read the proof before publication but otherwise I think it was a good kickoff. I'm off to read the author's next title, "The Imperfect Contract" which begins Series #1: A Sophia Burgess and Ray Stone Mystery.
