This is a mid-19th century travelogue from the English Baron Zouche Robert Curzon. Curzon is now rather famous for going around the near east and collecting biblical manuscripts. In the travels described here, you see the author hanging out with the kurds, turks, armenians, and russians. There are a few great anecdotes in here, my favorite being the author's near imprisonment by a mullah because he was unable to fix a clock (apparently, the mullah assumed that all "francs" could fix clocks, and was known for throwing any non-clock fixing "franc" into his dungeon). Contains a few very nice woodcuts and illustrations.
