Professional rodeo cowboy Rye Calhoun has been the primary breadwinner for his family since he was seventeen. Now thirty, there’s still no time for romance, and there certainly isn’t room for beautiful Texan Ansley Campbell, an artist with big dreams…dreams that don’t align with his.
When Ansley Campbell’s ailing uncle needs someone to help him at Cold Canyon Ranch in Paradise Valley, Ansley volunteers, eager for some breathing space from her family of overbearing men. But when her uncle Clyde has an accident the weekend of the Copper Mountain Rodeo, handsome cowboy Rye Calhoun is there to help.
From the moment Rye and Ansley meet, their chemistry sizzles, but their worlds are nothing alike and neither of them is in a position to compromise. Is love really enough, or are they asking to have their hearts broken?
Born in Visalia, California, I'm a small town girl at heart. I love central California's golden foothills, oak trees, and the miles of farmland. In my mind, there's nothing sweeter in the world than the heady fragrance of orange blossoms on a sultry summer night.
As a little girl I spent hours on my bed, staring out the window, dreaming of far off places, fearless knights, and happy-ever-after endings. In my imagination I was never the geeky bookworm with the thick coke-bottle glasses, but a princess, a magical fairy, a Joan-of-Arc crusader.
My parents fed my imagination by taking our family to Europe for a year when I was thirteen. The year away changed me (I wasn't a geek for once!) and overseas I discovered a huge and wonderful world with different cultures and customs. I loved everything about Europe, but felt especially passionate about Italy and those gorgeous Italian men (no wonder my first very Presents hero was Italian).
I confess, after that incredible year in Europe, the travel bug bit, and bit hard. I spent much of my high school and college years abroad, studying in South Africa, Japan and Ireland. South Africa remains a country of my heart, the people, the land and politics complex and heart-wrenching.
After my years of traveling and studying I had to settle down and earn a living. With my Bachelors degree from UCLA in American Studies, a program that combines American literature and American history, I've worked in sales and marketing, as well as a director of a non-profit foundation. Later I earned my Masters in Writing from the University of San Francisco and taught jr. high and high school English.
I now live in Seattle and Hawaii with my three sons. I never mind a rainy day, either, because that's when I sit at my desk and write stories about far-away places, fascinating people, and most importantly of all, love. I like a story with a happy ending. We all do.
I do love visiting Marietta and Jane Porter has written a beautiful story, it is an emotional roller coaster ride as Ansley Campbell meets Rye Calhoun at Marietta’s 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo, will their lives change?
Ansley is the youngest of six children with five older brothers, she is and artist has come to Marietta to care for her ailing uncle, she is staying at the Cold Canyon Ranch, she has set up a studio in the barn and is loving getting on with her painting and has hopes to open up her own art gallery one day in Marietta, one thing she is not looking for and that is love, but that just might change when she meets Rye.
Rodeo cowboy Rye has arrived in town for the rodeo, Rye is committed to his family and running the family roofing business, on weekends he goes to rodeos to earn more money, staying single is what he wants he doesn’t have time for love, but he might just have met his match when he meets the beautiful and strong willed Ansley.
The sparks fly between these two but will they ever be able to overcome the hurdles that they need to jump first, I loved Rye what a hero so caring and selfless always thinking of other people and Ansley she is strong and loving and knows what she wants and will stand up for herself and others.
I beautiful story, so well written, I loved the setting and all of the characters they are very easy to make friends with. This is one that I do highly recommend to any romance reader, who loves a cowboy.
My thanks to Tule Publishing for my digital copy to read and review.
I loved how dedicated Ansley & Rye were towards their families. If you’re a fan of cowboys, instant love connections, heartbreak & happily ever afters, then grab a copy of this book. This was my 3rd. Jane Porter book & not my last. I received an ARC from the author,in exchange for my honest opinion.
I liked this book from the opening paragraph. Ansley Campbell moves from Texas to Marietta, Montana to care for her ailing uncle, whom she’d never met. Her dad has been estranged from his brother for years, and neither he nor Ansley’s brothers want anything to do with him. Her dream is to own an art gallery where she can sell her paintings. Soon after she moves, she meets cowboy Rye Calhoun. Rye has family obligations and is not looking for a relationship. Ansley isn’t ready for marriage, or a family. So what happens when sparks fly?
Loved how Ansley and Rye cared so much about their families, so rare nowadays. Sweet, wonderful book! Highly recommend.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Loved this story. Ansley lives with her family and is the only girl with five bothers. When her ailing Uncle Clyde needs help, she heads to Cold Canyon Ranch to help take care of him. She is an artist and dreams of opening a gallery someday. There she meets Rye who has come for the rodeo He is a professional rodeo cowboy. He is very devoted to his family and works very hard to help them. Sparks fly between them, but can they overcome their obstacles and find their way to one another. Small town romance at its best. Once again jane Porter gives us a great read. I received this ARC from Tule in return for my honest opinion.
*I read an advanced copy provided by the publisher. All opinions are my own.*
I've read many of the cowboy series books based in Marietta, Montana. This latest from Jane Porter, was different for me, and I enjoyed it. Neither Ansley nor Rye are from Marietta but that's where they meet. The rodeo isn't a major plot point but again, it's part of their story. And the town does its magic again. Overall this was full of the warmth one expects from a Jane Porter book and in that it did not disappoint at all.
Ansley is a Texas girl, but not a cowgirl. She's an artist and in Marietta to care for her uncle. Rye is in Marietta for the rodeo. A fluke meeting and instant chemistry send these two on their way. I really liked the way the instant chemistry was handled. Instead of it being instant fall into bed, this was two people who notice the other, notice that they are being noticed, and just give in to the attraction to say hey, let's spend some time together and get a coffee. Which leads to three days of falling in love. It was romantic. It wasn't filled with explicit heat but their chemistry does sizzle and I loved how they were together.
It's an interesting conflict set up for these two characters. Ansley is a go getter, pursuing her dream of being an artist, making a living at following her passion. It's all color and make the world beautiful. She's doing art in a barn loft, with big windows. Rye always describes her as seeming like a spotlight is on her, her hair and whole being just shining. In contrast, Rye's entire life is about caring for and supporting his family. If he had dreams, they aren't something he thinks about now. Instead, it's all bottom line, because he's the entire financial support of his family. He runs the family business during the week and rides rodeo on weekends to make more money. He has a brother with cerebral palsy, two younger sisters who dream of lives outside of their small town, a dad who was injured working and is also disabled (more on that later), and a mom who is just existing. The light and dark of their respective lives are on full display. It's an opposite attracts set up but really they don't feel like opposites. Just their worlds are so very different.
And the difference in their worlds is where we get the third act break up. This is the one place this book did not work for me. I'm not against third act break ups. This one was centered around Ansley visiting Rye in his home town and meeting his family. Rye's hang up has been fear that any partner would not accept his family, with their low socio-economic status and hard life. And Ansley immediately is uncomfortable. She's from a relatively privileged background and the darkness in Rye's home is suffocating to her. She also struggles with his father's disability, or at least has many questions.
About Rye's father: I reacted strongly to how Ansley approached Rye's father. It felt ableist and uncalled for. It was also the first time the book described his father as physically disabled, when overwhelmingly beforehand I felt like he was being portrayed as depressed and possibly an alcoholic, though it's not specified. All the questions Ansley had about his father, were really problematic for me.
Ansley handles her discomfort by calling to talk to her mother. However, Rye overhears the conversation and is angry and feels betrayed. I was fully on Rye's side. This was what he was afraid of, that someone would come in and be judgmental and Ansley 100% was. I didn't think he could forgive her, I certainly didn't think I could. And yet he does. And quickly. A short conversation with his sisters and Ansley backtracking and suddenly Rye forgives and forgets and it's all tied up nicely with a bow. Many readers dislike third act breakups because they are resolved too quickly, and this definitely felt like that. I could have done without this whole part. None of it worked for me. In fact, the way things resolve themselves later also show how little any of this was needed. Rye could have had a conversation with his mother (the exact one he actually has), a series of conversations with Ansley, and they could have worked out the resolution together that eventually came to be.
Once past the dark moment, everything once again felt smooth and we moved to an HEA. I enjoyed seeing recurring characters from other Marietta set books. One doesn't need to have read those books, just accept these characters as side characters. There was nothing about Marietta that needed further explanation. Ansley's brothers showing up was kind of funny and definitely sets the scene for future stories there. Ansley's uncle, part of the set up, mostly disappears later in the book. I was hoping his grudging enjoyment of Ansley might show up some more. There's a story there that could be examined in later books, too.
Pacing is excellent, this was a very quick read. The chemistry is good, but this is not on the page sexy times at all. Even with my issues about the dark moment, I really enjoyed the book and can't wait to read the next in the series. As I said, that's the kind of warmth and heart I always find in Jane Porter's books. I think her readers and fans will enjoy it.
Additional CW for serious work related injury, long standing family feud
Take Me Please, Cowboy is a straight-up 5-star story. There are several reasons why I feel so strongly about Rye and Ansley, as well as the return to the Copper Mountain Rodeo. Some are, perhaps, nostalgic for this is the 10th Anniversary of Tule Publishing — my 10th year of loving the stories that this publishing house puts out there into the world. Also, the 10-year mark for my ongoing love affair with the town of Marietta, Montana. And those are valid reasons for why I loved this story so much. Yet, the fact remains that Rye and Ansley themselves sell this story for what it is… a blending of personalities, a healing of past heartaches, a way into the future when that seemed an impossibility, and the power of finding that one person who is a perfect fit even when the obstacles seem insurmountable — hope, faith can hold out for those possibilities to be discovered. Their story, their love, clicked all the right boxes for me in ways that were heart-wrenching, difficult, and, in the end, joyful and full of hope for the future.
Their story is also hard-hitting in the reality of dealing with depression and taking on responsibilities far beyond what should be expected of anyone. The reality of elder care and how that affects an entire family. The differences between how Rye and Ansley grew up are realistic and are a major part of their story as well as eventually not being such a huge mountain as it first seemed. In the end, people are still… just people and it’s the emotions that grow between this couple that matter; the rest is simply their history.
I’ve called them a realistic couple, and the mistakes they both made in this relationship make that feel even more so. It takes a strong, wise person to admit to a huge mistake. It also takes a strong and wise person to look beyond that mistake and see their future shining in their loved one’s eyes. Rye and Ansley did both of those things, and the struggles, the emotions, and the results felt so believable – as though I could have done the exact things. Their romance is an excellent example of seeing the real person behind the circumstances, of taking another chance on someone who has hurt you, and of how it is possible to blend all things into a viable family that will only grow stronger over time… because of those differences.
I’ve shied away from talking about the core of this romance, for I believe it’s a story that needs to be read, not told. I loved everything about Take Me Please, Cowboy, and it is an excellent beginning to both the 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo and The Calhouns & The Campbells of Cold Canyon Ranch series. I highly recommend this well-written, emotional, sad, funny, complicated, uplifting story to any reader. It just proves that there are always possibilities… if we trust enough to search for them. (I had an ARC of this story and have also purchased my own personal copy, for this is definitely a keeper for me. One I will re-read and find even more to love.)
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the author or author’s team via Booksprout, and I sincerely thank them for their trust. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Another truly amazing story, Take Me Please, Cowboy by Jane Porter, book one in The 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo series, is an emotionally engaging, tender, and moving small town story; where the characters are selfless, truly caring about others, and devoted to their families.
Ansley Campbell moves from Texas to Marietta, Montana to care for her ailing uncle, whom she’d never met. Her dad has been estranged from his brother for years, and neither he nor Ansley’s five older brothers want anything to do with him. Ansley is a gifted artist; planning to continue working on her paintings and for a future for herself and her art. Her dream is to own an art gallery where she can sell her paintings; but her talent is belittled by her family.
Rye Calhoun, in Marietta to compete in the 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo, is a down-to-earth guy; devoted to his family, putting them first and sacrificing his happiness for theirs. Since his father got injured, he has assumed the responsibility of man and breadwinner of the house. A role he takes very seriously, making sure everyone else is being cared for and he putting himself last. Rye rarely lets himself think of his hopes and dreams and is not looking for a relationship
A couple of unexpected encounters between Ansley and Rye bring about sparks flying, during their wonderful weekend; until they find themselves at a crossroads. Neither were looking for love, but love found them. They will need to search within themselves, finding a way to overcome their distance and differences on journey to a forever love.
This story was amazing as Rye was portrayed to be caring and selfless, always thinking of other people and Ansley being a strong and loving person, knowing what she wants and willing to stand up for herself and others. Their journey might have been filled with bumps and obstacles along the way, but true love finds a path to overcome all. I highly recommend Take Me Please, Cowboy to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Take Me Please, Cowboy is the sweetest, most touching small town romance that I have read this year! Rye Calhoun is a man with a mountain of responsibilities. He's heading to Marietta for the 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo to compete for the prize money. Unlike most young men he won't be spending his winnings on a fancy car or going out but he is the breadwinner of his family. With a disabled younger brother, two sisters in college, his mother at home as a caregiver to not only his brother but his father who was injured at work in the family's roofing business to support, Rye rarely lets himself think of his hopes and dreams. Ansley Campbell has been staying at her uncle's ranch outside of Marietta taking care of him. She comes from a big thriving ranch family in Texas and when her father's brother's health took a turn for the worse it seemed like Ansley was the logical choice to stay there until a more permanent solution could be arranged. Ansley is a gifted artist and plans to continue working on her paintings and planning for a future for herself and her art. A chance meeting has Ansley catching Rye's eye but he has no place or time for romance. When fate has them meeting at the hospital early the next morning Rye goes against his better judgement and continues to meet with Ansley. Neither of them were looking for love but love has found them! after a wonderful weekend they find themselves at a crossroads. They live hours apart from each other and both don't want to give up the other yet how can they make things work so that they can see what more their relationship could become? Read Take Me Please, Cowboy to follow Rye and Ansley's journey. It has plenty of bumps in their road to a happily ever after but it was so inspirational to see them work together to achieve something wonderful. I loved the supporting characters and am looking forward to more books set in this series. It was told from dual POV and would be a perfect Hallmark movie!
I'm not usually a fan of the 'insta-attraction' trope, but this one was perfect!
Rye Calhoun is a young man with way too many responsibilities. He is keeping his family together by the skin of his teeth and his ability to be a Rodeo rider and a housing roofer! He heads to Marietta Montana for the 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo, hoping to bring in some much needed cash by rodeoing.
Ansley Campbell is an artist, although her family doesn't give her much credit for her chosen profession. To get out from under her parents and her 5 older brothers, she heads to the Marietta, Montana area to care for her uncle.
Meeting accidentally when Rye's truck overheats, she and Rye go their separate ways but each one has 'noticed' the other. When emergencies have both Rye and Ansley at the hospital, Rye lets Ansley know he can pick her up when she needs to head home. Now, insta-attraction! After a platonic weekend of dating at the Rodeo, they head back to reality.
With so much on his plate, Rye just can't see them in a relationship, but can't think of anything buy Ansley. With so much on her plate, Ansley can't see how they can make a go of a romance, but can't think of anything buy Rye.
Swoon.
These two very responsible souls, come through some dark times. With their hearts set on each other, and finally understanding communication is the key to ALL of the relationships in their lives, they realize their hearts know what should happen.
A powerful story of attraction and love, learning that compromise makes everything possible.
Rye Calhoun is a man carrying the world on his shoulders. Ansley Campbell has her family responsibilities and something to prove. Neither is looking for love. Rye heads to Marietta for the 85th Annual Copper Mountain Rodeo hoping to advance as far as he can to take home as much as possible. He didn’t expect to meet Ansley Campbell and neither one of them expects to have their life changed in three days. Their chance meeting changes the course of both their lives as spending time together leads to a desire to spend more, but what happens at the end of the weekend when Rye must go back to his life? How will Ansley fit into his life and his responsibilities to his family? Jane Porter writes fun and believable characters full of warmth and heart in a setting that makes me want to pick up and move there. I love Rye and Ansley and their realistic struggles, and I adore revisiting Marietta and so many characters from past novels. I discovered Marietta 10 years ago and every novel makes me feel like I have come home. Porter’s TAKE ME PLEASE, COWBOY is the first in the new 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo Series celebrating 10 years since the first Copper Mountain Rodeo novel and Tule Publishing’s start. It also kicks off her new Campbell’s of Cold Canyon series. Grab your favorite drink and take a trip to the rodeo! Thank you to the publisher for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of the novel. All opinions are my own and freely given. #TAKEMEPLEASECOWBOY #AUTHORJANEPORTER #85THCOPPERMOUNTAINRODEO #TULEPUBLISHING #READZTULE
Take me please, cowboy ByJane Porter Comes out September 5, 2023
WOW!! Another great book by a Jane Porter! I wish I could give it more than five stars. I laughed, and I cried for me. That is the best sign of a good book.
Ansley Campbell is trying to make her way as an artist. She lives with her parents and her five brothers and she’s not only the only girl in the family she’s the youngest. She feels in order to spread her wings a little bit she needs to get away from her family. so she comes to Marietta,Montana to care for her ailing uncle. She meets : Rye Calhoun a rodeo, cowboy, and a construction roofer. Ry is a Uber responsible family man! He carries the weight of his parents to sisters and disabled brother. Even though he can’t get Ansley out of his mind, does he have time for her? She comes from money. He feels he has nothing to offer her. They both have a very strong attraction to each other. You definitely do not want to miss this relationship unfold.
This is book one of the 85th copper mountain rodeo series. Book 2 Tempt me please, cowboy by Meghan Crane comes out September 12
BOOK 3 Marry me please, cowboy by Sinclair Jane comes out September 19
Book 4 promise me please cowboy by CJ Carmichael comes out September 26 However, these books can be read as standalone’s. They all take place in the town of Marietta Montana.
I highly recommend this book along with the other three. This is my honest review.
I’ve been reading Copper Mountain Rodeo stories for the past ten years and was so happy to return for the 85th rodeo in Jane Porter’s Take Me Please, Cowboy. Strong and admirable characters are central to this romance, which brings readers back to the Montana town of Marietta. Artist Ansley Campbell, the youngest of six children nd the family’s only daughter, has moved to Montana to care for her Uncle Clyde, her father’s younger brother, who has begun to show worrying health symptoms. Cowboy Rye Calhoun has been his family’s breadwinner since the age of seventeen when an accident ended his father’s working life. He’s a salt of the earth type, focused on keeping his family afloat by working four days a week as a roofer and then competing at rodeos the other three. Neither Ansley nor Rye want a relationship, but they just can’t help falling hard for each other from the first. Their road to a happy ever after is a challenging one and I found it hard to imagine that they could ever overcome their difficulties. Rye and Ansley are supported by a strong cast of secondary characters, especially Clyde’s neighbours Melvin Wyatt, who epitomises the sense of community that pervades in the Marietta stories. It’s clear that Ansley needs help dealing with her situation and Mevin is there for her, “This is what friends do,” he said. “Friends show up.” This book is the first in a new series and I’m looking forward to the others.
When Ansley Campbell’s uncle Clyde needs help at the family ranch she offers to go assist. Getting out from under her five brothers’ watchful eye and being able to pursue her passion of painting sounds perfect. But when her curmudgeon of an uncle gets hurt, and worse, diagnosed with an unexpected illness Ansley starts to question if she is the right person to care for her uncle.
Rye Calhoun is a salt-of-the-earth type of guy. He is devoted to his family, puts them first and sacrifices his happiness for theirs. But since his father got injured, he has assumed the responsibility of man and breadwinner of the house. A role he takes very serious; even if that means everyone else is being cared for and he puts himself last.
While in Marietta to take part in the rodeo Rye bumps into Ansley as she’s struggling to get her uncle into the hospital after a fall. After offering his services to assist it doesn’t take long to feel the connection they share. But with Rye’s responsibilities to his family he knows that getting into a relationship is not in the cards for him. But beautiful and sweet Ansley is constantly in the forefront of Rye’s thoughts. Can he put himself first for once and see if there could be a future for them? Or will he walk away from the one woman who has taken up space in his head and heart?
I would like to thank Tule Publishing and Tule Publishing for the E ARC of this book. We meet Ansley Campbell, she has come to Marietta to care for her Uncle on his ranch and she is not exactly happy, she has been railroaded by her family to do so. She is an artist, although her family are not exactly supportive of her career choice. Slowly she is making her way and making friends in the town. One weekend she meets Rye Calhoun who has come to take part in the 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo. There is an instant attraction but neither of them are in a place where they want a relationship, or so they say. They spend time together over the weekend and then say goodbye, or is it? Both Ansley and Rye have family commitments that they put first. Rye finds it hard to put himself and his needs first. He is consumed with doing all he can for his family to make their lives easier. Ansley finds it hard looking after her Uncle and things get tougher when he is admitted to hospital – will her family come and help her or is she on her own? I really enjoyed this story, great plotline that was well researched. Great characters, loved Ansley’s brothers and Rye sisters when we met them. This is the first in a new Marietta series and I look froward to reading the next book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This is a fantastic start to another Copper Mountain Rodeo series! I have read and adored all of the prior stories.
The connection between Rye and Ansley was felt right from the beginning. The banter between these two characters was so nature, fun and teasing.
Rye is a 30 year old cowboy who works during the week to help his family and does the rodeo on the weekend. He doesn’t have time for romance. Work and caring for his family takes all of his time.
Ansley is from Texas. She is staying with her uncle for the summer. His health is failing and she is the only one in the family with the time to stay with him. She is a very talented artist. She spends time in the barn’s loft to paint when not caring for her uncle.
When the uncle is hospitalized, Ansley has time to get away from the isolated ranch. She and Rye spend some time together before the rodeo starts.
Can these two come together to overcome the odds against them? She lives in Texas. She is considering make Marietta home but she hasn’t experienced a Montana winter yet. He is an overworked cowboy who lives in Montana.
I just adored this story. I can’t wait for the rest in this series.
Rye and Ansley The attraction is there from their very first eye connection. Rye fights the connection and tries to make Ansley fall into place. Ansley has 5 older brothers and is done with others telling her how to think and feel. Their families could not be more different, and it is hard to allow people into your family chaos. You do what needs to be done for family and if there are sacrifices; you just push forward. The push pull between Rye and Ansley was heart wrenching, but fate wasn’t going to let them fade into the sunset. He’s been the head of the household since he was 17; he is used to making decisions for everyone and having them follow them. Along comes Ansley with her I can do this attitude and it is beautiful to watch them come together once they work through their stuff. I loved how their families rallied around them and each other; help smooth some edges and give them permission to feel what they feel. In the end, being together with both their families meant more than being alone. I cannot wait for the stories of their families and how love with find them.
Rye Calhoun is the responsible son, running himself ragged keeping the family business going while in the rodeo circuit on the weekends. He's supporting everyone--his parents, sisters, and his brother with an incurable disease. He doesn't have time to sleep, let alone date. Ansley is an artist tasked with being the default caregiver of her uncle, because no one in the family takes her work seriously. Her uncle's health has declined, and it's more than she can do alone, especially after the latest diagnosis at the hospital. A chance meeting brings them together, and they spend time together at the 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo and some of the events surrounding it. While they know time and distance means they can't have a relationship, the spark is real. But spending time together reminds them what they're missing in life, with the ifs and buts giving them ideas, but not the promise of a future. The pull is real, and while breakups happen, they can't seem to stay apart. They need to find a compromise to work toward a future, but it seems impossible. Effort will be needed, and perhaps some support from family, to give this couple the chance at a forever love.
Oh I absolutely adored this one by jane. The first in the The 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo series it is every bit as emotional, sweet and gorgeous as I expected with professional rodeo cowboy Rye Calhoun and Ansley Campbell meeting at the rodeo in Marietta and unbeknownst to them falling in love. There are challenges, Rye is the breadwinner in his family and has only known putting his family’s needs before his, Ansley is also tethered to her ailing uncle but the talented artist craves independence and has no intention of getting married and settling down. I loved these two as they realistically faced the ups and downs in their relationship trying to make it work and their families who were determined to see them happy. I am so grateful to jane and @tulepublishing for sharing this wonderful book early with me and I’m so excited for both the The 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo series and Jane’s new series The Calhouns & Campbells of Cold Canyon Ranch. These two families have such dynamic personalities I can’t wait to read more.
Take Me Please, Cowboy by Jane Porter is a sweet everyday story that has Rye Calhoun shouldering many responsibilities in his life. Anyone of them would not be too much but altogether they weight him down but he continues own in loyalty and self-sacrifice. So when romance comes his way he doesn’t know how to handle it with all his family’s needs. Ansley Campbell also has responsibilities, but she is more balanced in her life, trying to pursue her art along with caring for an aging uncle. While their career interests may be different, these could be any twenty-something person today. They are mature, likable and deserve to enjoy the life that they have.
A lovely romance of finding balance, asking for needed help, compromising, working as a team and being open to change that comes with loving someone. Full of drama it hits all the emotions. Take a chance on the 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo, love is in the air.
An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
“You’re very respectful. And I only have one problem with the kiss.” “Oh?” “It was too brief.”
✨This quote tells me all I need to know about this book. Not only is Rye a wonderful dream guy but Ansley is in it for love and has a pure heart. Ansley comes from a big family of brothers with her being the baby sister. Rye takes care of his family by working all week for his family’s business and working rodeos on the weekends. This is where he meets Ansley. Ansley is an artist and has very attainable, lucrative business ideas.
✨The story had me rooting for them the whole time. There is one specific time towards the end that shows Ansley’s strength but sweetness while talking to her family about her future. I am still admiring her well after I finished the book.
✨Jane Porter transported me from my home straight into Ansley and Rye’s life. This is what I look for in a book. This is a fun cowboy romance with an amazing setting and well developed characters. I am happily awaiting the next book.
I loved this story and I can't wait for more from this group in fact in the end the author leaves a little note and I was super excited to read what she has in the works!! I feel like the big champions in this story were the Wyatt's they were hands down my favorite and so glad to catch up with them. I liked Ansley she was independent and fought to get there it was no cake walk for her that's for sure. There is something that happens between her and her brothers and I feel like as the only girl of all boys I could relate to the moment so I was laughing so hard. I liked Rye however he did have to grow on me a little. In the beginning he just seemed so beat down. However his sisters, and mom did not hold anything back when he need to be pulled and pushed they were right there, the family dynamics were just amazing. He has and amazing heart and only wants what's best for those he loves. I truly felt like I could not get enough of this story. I so wanted more. I liked how the author kept the story clean and suitable for all readers.
Take Me Please, Cowboy is the first book in this new series for The 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo, set in Marietta, Montana. For me, it's nice to start a series from the beginning instead of the middle and then go back. (That's what I usually do). I found this book to be written brilliantly, with tremendous characters and a very strong storyline. I felt drawn into the story from the very beginning until the end. A definite attention grabber and will keep you coming back for more, just a wonderful story. No spoilers, sorry, as I believe you need to purchase the book, as my words will not do the book the justice it deserves. I will be reading more from Jane Porter, and of course, the rest of this series, which I believe the stories will be from different authors. Yeah, new authors to read:) I highly recommend this book to all, if I could give more than 5* I would. Thank you Jane for this fabulous story.

As a long time fan (10 yrs) of Marietta books, I have been waiting anxiously for this new series to be available, and I am looking forward to the rest of the books coming back to back. I fell in love with cowboys, rodeos, and a small Montana town because of the original series of books. This is like coming home for a family reunion, with new people that soon feel like you have known them forever or can at least relate to them, and of course some characters that you already know and love.
This book kicks off the 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo and is Rye and Ansley's story. It is a bit of an opposites attract story, and one of my faves. Rye has felt responsible for his family for a very long time and Ansley has felt out of place with hers and not always understood. Fate brought them together and even though on paper they shouldn't work, they somehow do. Theirs is not an easy relationship and there are bumps, break ups, and blossoming to be had...
If you love an opposite attracts, cowboy romance, and part of a series, but can be read as a stand alone, you will enjoy this book.
I just finished Take Me, Please Cowboy by Jane Porter, and I am absolutely in love with this story! Jane Porter has such a gift for creating characters you can’t help but root for. Professional rodeo cowboy Rye Calhoun and talented artist Ansley Campbell couldn’t be more different—he’s chasing the rodeo circuit, and she’s chasing her artistic dreams—but the sparks between them fly from the moment they meet.
Their chemistry is undeniable, the kind that makes you hold your breath and hope love can find a way. But with worlds so far apart and neither one ready to compromise, I was on edge wondering—could their hearts really survive the clash of their dreams?
This book had me hooked from the very first chapter, and I couldn’t stop listening. The romance sizzles, the emotions run deep, and Jane Porter’s storytelling makes you feel every moment right alongside Rye and Ansley. I adored this book, and it’s a shining reminder of why I love this author’s work—I can’t wait to read more!
I am so glad this is not a stand-alone book, since by the end of the latest Jane Porter Marietta romance, I can’t wait to know more about the Calhouns and the Campbells. Have you ever been to the fictional town of Marietta, Montana? Do check out many of Tule Publishing’s delightful books. “Take Me Please, Cowboy” took me back to some of my favorite places like the Main Street Diner and Bramble House, while also celebrating the 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo with some wild action in the arena! The story of two strangers crossing paths, Ansley Campbell and Rye Calhoun, is woven into an intricate pattern of family, feuds and loyalty. “Take Me Please, Cowboy” is also the first book in a five-book series that will highlight different storylines during the same time frame as the rodeo. So you can enjoy the festivities again and again.
This book is for the 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo. It is written by Jane Porter. It is the story of Ansley Campbell and Rye Calhoun. Ansley is the only daughter in a family of men. She has been working towards becoming an artist; she is self-taught. Her dream is to one day open an art gallery. Her plans are thrown off course when she meets Rye Calhoun. Rye is a professional rodeo cowboy. He also works for his family's roofing business. He is a confirmed bachelor, but he thinks he met his match in Ansley. Intense sparks flew between them, but the rodeo ends. Rye knows he has alot of family responsibilities and Ansley has her own, especially helping out with her sick uncle. How will they come together when they have their own responsibilities to handle? Can they work out a future together that involves making sure Ansley's dream comes true while allowing Rye to handle taking care of his family? I love how both Ansley and Rye's family members know them and try to help them make a good decision about their future. I enjoyed this story and how they both fought for the other's happiness. Can't wait to read more of the cowboy stories.
I really liked this story and the characters. Rye and Ansley were both fun and relatable. Ansley is in Marietta due to a family obligation, taking care of her uncle who's health is declining. And she is an artist, working on improving and with a dream to open her own gallery one day. Rye is a cowboy in town for the rodeo, but he too has family obligations. He is solely responsible for supporting his family (parents and siblings) so he does roofing during the week and rodeos on the weekends to bring in money. So he has no time for just about anything else. I really enjoyed the storyline and how Rye and Ansley hit it off even though neither one wanted to be tied down due to their family obligations. But their connection couldn't be denied, no matter how much they (especially Rye) tried to shove it aside. The tug of war between wants and responsibilities really felt real.
Ansley is the youngest with five older brothers. She is strong, independent and in charge of her own live. She is an artist and wants to make her own way. Rye is a professional rodeo cowboy. He is a roofer during the week and a rodeo cowboy on the weekends. He takes responsibility for his family. He works nonstop to support everyone. He has no time in his life for his own dreams and wants. When they meet at the 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo sparks fly. Ansley is not about love, but he calls to her in a way no one else ever has. After spending the weekend innocently hanging out with Ansley he can't survive without the light she brings to his life. He knows that she does not belong in his life because of his baggage. Will he give Ansley a chance to make up her own mind and take a chance on getting his dream woman? Good read.
The 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo is a big event in Marietta Montana. The Cowboys and Cowgirls are all here to compete. Rye Calhoun wants to win. His family needs the prize money. When he meets Ansley, he finds his perfect woman, but he's afraid to commit. I was drawn to this couple. They may be from different backgrounds but I could tell that their love for each other could overcome their family obligations. Jane Porter wrote a beautiful and touching romance that made me believe that anything is possible with love. Ansley Campbell is determined and stubborn so Rye Calhoun has met his match. Could a HEA be possible with so many obstacles? Jane Porter has started this new series with special book that celebrates true love. Take Me Please Cowboy has wonderful characters, a powerful story and my favorite town, Marietta Montana. Who could ask for more!
Rye and Ansley come from very different backgrounds but have the selfless caregiving natures that put them into a predicament they can not get out of. He takes on the financial and medical obligations for his family and needs the rodeo money to make ends meet. She moved to Montana to care for an uncle and her family believes her art is a useless profession. Loved the characters, their personalities, entertaining situations and hopes. They totally understand where the other stands on family, etc., which is something they are not used to. The support and care they give each other in this believable, heartwarming story pulls them so close but can they find a way to be together or is that impossible? Totally into this series and can not wait to read the next book.
