Lori Wilde can’t remember a time when she didn’t want to write. She even went to nursing school so she could have a schedule flexible enough to allow her to write on the side. She nursed for 20 years, working in a variety of settings from the newborn nursery to the recovery room, to dialysis. But she never lost her desire to write.

She sold her first book in 1994 to Silhouette Romance but later discovered she had a flair for comedy and branched out to Harlequin Duets and now, to Blaze.

Lori is an adventuresome soul who loves to travel. She’s taken flying lessons, completed two marathons, rode in a hot-air balloon, performed with a professional jazz band, traveled Europe as a teenager, hiked volcanoes in Hawaii, trod on glaciers in Alaska, shot white-water rapids, water-skied, snow-skied, raced all-terrain vehicles, bodysurfed in the Gulf of Mexico, and photographed grizzly bears in Yellowstone.

She lives in her native Texas, with her own real-life hero, Bill.

Recently, I bought a box of diet snack bars that, after I opened and started eating one, I realized they tasted a lot like I'd imagine a chocolate covered milk bone would taste. Now, how does that relate to this book?

I've read a bunch of numbered romances lately - this one is a twofer originally published as…several somethings. Book was unclear as to where and well, anything. And, they're kinda like the literary equivalent of a meal bar. You know it'll keep your brain busy but… With that thought, and the admission that while there was a finite number of those nasty snack bars and then they were all gone, whereas I have lots and lots of better things to read… Time to cut my losses. So what are the issues? Well, since I only managed half of book 1…

I can tell you that a book featuring a heroine who is too…spineless to tell her social-ladder-climbing mother that the thought of sleeping with the guy she's supposedly engaged to is like sleeping with her brother… yeah, we're off to a GREAT start.

And then there's the H. Well, actually, the H might be the only good thing about the book IF…he hadn't cheerfully met with the h for a booty call - while erstwhile fiancé is off playing field Dr in Guatemala.

I think the fact that the h is sleeping with H while planning her wedding (seriously!!) to another pretty much sums up my issue. That the second book apparently has the H engaged to someone else…. Yeah. I'm outta here.

Both books were weird in some ways. And I felt like part of the first book was a copy of two Susan Elizabeth Phillips books. I couldn't get in to the story as I thought the characters just listed over the others all the time no love or emotianal connection.

There Goes The Bride and Once Smitten, Twice Shy are beautifully written love stories with characters that have so much chemistry I didn't want the books to end. Ten stars!

First, I just want to say I wrote a review earlier today but neglected to hit SAVE. That's what I get for writing before my eyes are open. So here I go again...I'm afraid it won't be as witty as the first, but definitely as sincere.

I have not read KISS THE BRIDE, however, I can wholeheartedly recommend it!

KISS THE BRIDE combines two of my favorite Lori Wilde novels, THERE GOES THE BRIDE and ONCE SMITTEN,TWICE SHY.

In fact, THERE GOES THE BRIDE was the very first book I read by Lori. The story is charming and I was swept away. I couldn't wait to read the next three books in the Wedding Veil Wishes series. And, by the way, the fact that the hero resembles the actor Gerard Butler, well that sealed the deal for me.

The premise of a magical, antique wedding veil that can grant your heart's desire....what a clever and fun premise.

With Kiss the Bride you get two books in one -- what a great deal!

There Goes the Bride
There Goes the Bride (Wedding Veil Wishes, #1) by Lori Wilde
Texas socialite Delaney Cartwright is having second thoughts about her upcoming wedding to a life-long friend and since it is slated to be the social event of the season, the pressure is on. In an attempt to light a spark between herself and her fiance, Delaney abducts her fiance for a night of passion...and grabs the wrong guy! And the fun and romance begins. Well actually the story begins when she tries on an antique Irish wedding veil and sees the man of her dreams(and it isn't her fiance).

As I said above I loved this book. It's a perfect story of romance and fun.

Once Smitten, Twice Shy
Once Smitten, Twice Shy (Wedding Veil Wishes, #2) by Lori Wilde
This is the second book in the Wedding Veil Wishes series. Wedding videographer and friend of Delaney Cartwright from TGTB, Tish Gallagher is at the end of her rope. Her business is failing and her love life is non-existent. She makes a wish on the lucky wedding veil to get out of debt...but sees the man she never stopped loving, her ex-husband

When her dream job of recording the first daughter's wedding appears out of the blue, Tish knows it's the way out of her financial issues. However, there's a problem with her plan. The groom is her ex.

Book 3
Addicted to Love
Addicted to Love (Wedding Veil Wishes, #3) by Lori Wilde
(Rachael Henderson)

Book 4
All of Me
All of Me (Wedding Veil Wishes, #4) by Lori Wilde
(Jillian Samuels)

The books can be read in any order but I ALWAYS try to read books "in order." (just saying)

I highly recommend all of these books. I don't know for sure but I imagine there will be a book out soon that combines #3 and #4. Although, if you are like me, you'll love the characters so much you'll have to read the stories all right away.

All of these books are available here at Amazon.com

Happy Reading!

Kiss the Bride by Lori Wilde
ISBN: 9781455512676
Two books in this novel. both about brides and weddings. These two books are linked together by the 300 hundred year old wedding veil.
There Goes the Bride by Lori Wilde
Delaney Cartwright had postponed her marriage twice now. Now it was August, so hot and she was getting the fear it was all wrong. She couldn't marry him. She had paid a man to kidnap her from the wedding but when he turned to look at her from the front seat of the car, it was not the man she had hired.
Wedding was all set, orchestra, 500 guests, brides maids, groomsmen and Dr. Evan Van Zandt, the groom.
A few months prior she had found a special veil with a legend and she agreed to not wish upon it and paid for it.
She went to go kidnap her husband to be dressed in lingerie and a dildo but he wasn't him she put the tarp over, it was the man she had a vision of when she first saw the veil. Her dead sister, Skylar she talks to often to sort things out. She dares her to be the ever so right daughter, who can't do a thing wrong.
She's got a lead on a condo for sale, she's a house stager, that she hopes to sell for the seller after she fixes it up. Works perfect cuz Evan will be in Guatemala with other doctors for 6 weeks. The grandson who's to help the woman fix up the house is Nick, the one she ran into when she wanted to kidnap Evan. Nick had hurt his leg and would be off work for quite some time. He still kept in shape at the gym and was always available for his nana.
Book follows many romances but they are easy to keep separate. Some parts are hilarious and some are sad.
Lot of action and everybody has something going on: kidnapping, blackmail,
Lots of mysteries and secrets of things that happened in the past are slowly coming to light....
The whammy just like the owners house she is renovating has come out, time stops and electric forces can't keep you away from one another.
kidnapping takes place but because of it other secrets come out so everybody hears of what's occurred in the past...
Loved new places this book took me to along with the whole book, very enjoyable.

Once Smitten, Twice Shy by Lori Wilde
Secret Services Agent Shane Tremont was on the lookout for anybody that wanted to harm the President's daughter: Elysse
He gets between her and a backhoe and saves her life, destroying his chances of recovering fully after a 13 week in a coma hospital stay. He
recuperates at her father's ranch.
Tish, Shanes ex wife is on the job hunt and is much overdrawn her accounts at the bank.
Tish saw Shane pleading for her to help him after she wished for a lot of things.
Tish is a videographer and does weddings.
When Elysee agrees to marry Shane, they've spent a year together every day talking to one another about everything,
she decides to hire Tish to video tape their wedding. She wants them all to get along knowing Tish is Shanes ex.
Her girlfriends stand behind her, get on with her life, settle her finances after she's been paid to videotape the wedding but she's still in love with her ex.
Lots of scenes with hot steamy sex are included. More problems when Elysee has her own secrets that she doesn't want others to know about.
Other excerpts from other books of Lori's and the next in the series: Addicted to Love and The Dish.

These were two fun, light full-length contemporary romances set in Texas, packaged together. Disclaimer: I received this book gratis at RWA 2012 (yes, I *am* that far behind on my reading), but was under no obligation to read or write a review.

THERE GOES THE BRIDE - As we start, Delaney is being dragged to the altar by her father, to marry a man she loves, but is not IN love with. And then she's rescued/kidnapped... but, apparently, by the WRONG kidnapper.

Okay, this had me hooked. The story then goes into flashback for events leading up to said kidnapping, and while pampered and wealthy Delaney wasn't totally unlikable, she was more than a little spineless, though she grows in confidence as the story goes on. There's the magical element of a mysterious lace wedding veil that is NOT supposed to be wished upon (of course, she does it anyway). The elements tie together nicely, the hero is everything a dark, brooding, injured hero should be.

ONCE SMITTEN, TWICE SHY - Wedding videographer Tish is a friend of Delaney's and the current holder of the magic wedding veil. Two years divorced from Shane, their relationship is far from over, even when he finds himself engaged to the sweet daughter of the President of the United States. Who knowingly engages Tish to video their wedding, so she and Shane can come to "closure," an offer the deeply in debt Tish can't afford to refuse.

The fiancee, Elysee, is a callback to the Cameron Diaz character in MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING; in fact, this movie is openly referenced many times. If you liked that movie (I did), but imagined a different ending, here's your story. Some readers may adore the idea of another President from Texas; others may want to scream at the idea, but the character is NOTHING like the last US President from Texas, and the details of what it entails, should one be involved with the First Daughter, are interesting.

In both stories, the kissing scenes are excellent; the actual sex scenes feel a bit awkward. The middle on both books felt a little slow. There's a Dangerous Situation at the end of each story that is solved satisfactorily, and with a HEA.

You can find this complete reveiw posted on my blog Forever Book Lover

I enjoyed both these stories. I have never read Lori Wilde before but if I had to do a comparison her writing reminded me of both Debbie Macomber and Sherryl Woods, two of my favorite writers. So needless to say, I will be checking out more of Lori Wilde's books.

The first book, There Goes the Bride, was about Delaney Cartwright, a rich Texan who figured out maybe too late that she was marrying for all the wrong reasons, well everyone else's reasons except her own. She loved her groom (Evan), but there were no sparks no undying love. Did I fault her, I usually like heroines that aren't wishy washy and speaks her mind... not wait until the last minute and leave a note saying ... "no hard feelings"... I know, I just said I like the book, I did, the storyline was cute, the romance between the wounded detective (Nick) was great!! If you like whimsical, this is a very fun and entertaining read.

The second book was Once Smitten, Twice Shy. Be careful what you wish for... it may come true... literally.. This was also a good read, but it was not a believable story to me. Down and out Tish's life couldn't get any worse: she is max'd out on her credit cards, her car is repo and she just got the break of her lifetime, the catch: be the videographer for the Presidents daughter who just happens to be marrying your ex-husband who you still are madly in love with. Too many unrealistic events that made it a little far fetched. I stil think you will enjoy it.

If you are looking for a cute, beach worthy read, try Kiss the Bride by Lori Wilde. I was a great weekend read for me when I could have been doing housework. I will read the next books in the series, want to find out what Rachael and Jillian wish for!!

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Kiss the Bride by Lori Wilde:

There Goes the Bride (Wedding Veil Wishes #1) by Lori Wilde

'There Goes the Bride' by Lori Wilde has a bit of everything: romance, character growth, adventure and mystery with a great sub-plot as well. There is always something going on (rather than 'filler') – it is brilliant and kept me turning pages long after I should have gone to bed!

Lori Wilde writes such strong characters (and not just the main ones) who interact well, which I love, although in this book I would have liked the heroine to have had a bit more of a back bone in the end. I understand what was making her weak, but I was waiting for her to stand up for herself in a more positive way at the end and that didn't happen – it didn't spoil the book for me though. The book was a fun, gentle read, great for switching off stress. 'There Goes the Bride' is the first book in a set of four. I loved this one so much I am going to start reading the second in the series 'Once Smitten, Twice Shy' straight away and hope I enjoy it as much.

Once Smitten, Twice Shy (Wedding Veil Wishes #2) by Lori Wilde

Initially I wasn't sure if 'Once Smitten, Twice Shy' (the second book of four in the 'Wedding Veil Wishes' series) was going to be my sort of book but as it developed I thoroughly enjoyed it. Most of the things I had trouble with at the beginning were explained in a way that made sense to me and took them off my personal niggle list.

Lori Wilde explains her character development really well and in great detail without slowing the story down in any way. I love the way she brought all the loose ends together and resolved them.

I was going to read a book from a different author on my TBR list before starting book three in this series, 'Addicted to Love', but as I am finding the series so much fun and a great stress relief I can't wait to read the next one!

Kiss the Bride a tale of romance and wishes that one person should never make but have no choice. The first story is about Delaney Cartright who by other people seem to be the blushing bride. Yet inside Delaney is a woman trapped. All she wants is the magic that every couple in love feel for their companion. Can she find that magic with a man like Nick?

Second story is about Delaney's best friend, Tish. Now here is a woman who is trying so hard to let go of the past but her ex is always there. Shane has never stopped loving her but because of never trusting her enough he left a good woman. Now he's determined to get her back and finally get the magic that has been missing from his life.

Lori Wilde did a great job again in her Wedding Veil series that this is a keeper for me. The characters in her book are strong independent women yet with a good man by their side they can be stronger. Shane and Nick are two men who seem lost but with Delaney and Tish by their side they find that love is what has been missing in their lives. Loved the book and can't wait for more of Lori Wilde. Awesome book.

Two books in one, which I didn't realize until I got it. Part of a series of four, which I will finish now that I know. Good stories, liked the fact that it is about four friends and their journeys to find love. Would recommend for a fun, lighthearted, quick read but not if you don't have time for a full series. They stand alone, but I always have to read the whole group once I know about it. :)

Two books in one. There Goes the Bride - friends supposed to get married but then she meets a wounded (leg) police officer. It was good, but also frustrating the lengths she would go to to get out of the wedding. Also, felt sort of bad for her fiancee. The second story Once Smitten, Twice Shy was worse. The protagonist is also wounded (arm)and also about to enter a loveless marriage. The story was just boring.
