Marjorie Holmes (1910—2002) was an American columnist and best-selling Christian author of 134 books, 32 of which were best sellers. Holmes is known best for her biblical trilogy which began with the novel Two From Galilee, a love story about Mary and Joseph, published by Fleming H. Revell.

I loved Marjorie Holmes' poetic prose. The book is composed of short prayers uttered throughout a year. Prayers of thanks, prayers asking for strength and grace - simple, honest, and conversational. Reading the book reminded me to remain grateful. It also reminded me that prayers need not be all about thunder and lightning - they can be as sweet and simple as a child talking to a Father, a friend talking to friend.

i am doing this as a devotional group. we read "i've got to talk to somebody, God" first (funny how you may have never heard of an author before but then suddenly she is on my radar. i enjoy her writing style. how is so easily talks to God, i think a lot of the time we might think we have to do this huge, emotional, wild prayers ...but really the point is to be worshiping in his presence and learning from his lessons that he has taught us. learning and growing.) ...and now to this one ...i am gonna say that i prefer the other one to this one ...the way the lesson (or devotional) are laid out ...it flows better ...this one is kind of ...well it doesn't flow. moving along steady ...kind of jumps from page to page ...it seem more easily read in the first book we read. not that you do not learn from this one ...not my point but i prefer how it was layout on the other books pages. wonder what made Marjorie change? was it the publisher or?? the other one was 1968. this is 1971. i guess that mean you got remarried ...last book she was just Marjorie Holmes ...in this book she is Marjorie Holmes Mighell. i wonder?? i will say that i will rate this one a bit down due to the layout ...now it is not that much in my humble opinion but still. a very high four-star rating ...but i just prefer the other one. i wonder if it is similar in different additions of each book? curious.
the first book i was really impressed with the text (font) it was easily read now this one is a lot tinier (tiny) ...i am getting up to my later 40's ...i have to wear reading glasses and for you that 2 might be an issue. i don't have a kindle copy to be able to enlarge the text ...like might be nicer ...but i will say that the used copies were so much more cheaper. i wonder how other folks do (buy, purchase, find them, etc.) books ...how can you afford to not get used ...the prices today. wow!! books are not cheap.

Thank goodness a 5 star book!! It has been a minute for me😅. I picked this book up at a little antique store in Knob Noster, Missouri and thought it looked kind of cute. Whilst it definitely was that, it was also so honest and heartwarming. This is the kind of book we should gift to teenage girls & women instead of "Chicken Soup". Great book!

One of my moms favorite authors. I remember growing up she’d always read me a portion of her books. I will always remember my mom through these books.
