Betrayal, abuse, heartache, depression. Don’t keep it inside.
In a gripping new book that reads like a novel, Vikki Burke recounts how running a worldwide ministry with her husband didn’t automatically exempt her from feeling burned-out and disillusioned with her Christian life. No matter what she tried, she couldn’t seem to shake feelings of despair and hopelessness. Yet, in her desperation, she found the answer—an answer that may surprise you.
Perhaps you’ve experienced some of these same feelings. Some days you feel like dancing, but on others, you feel like a complete disaster. Maybe you’re saying, “If something doesn’t change fast, I have no idea how I can possibly go on.” If you’re struggling, today is your day: for yourself, or as a Christmas gift for someone you love, order Some Days You Dance and join Vikki on the journey to recovery.
Vikki is the real deal and not afraid to talk about what that looks like, or rather what we all should be like through Christ Jesus. I love the way Vikki beautifully weaves her personal memories throughout the book. Teaching and testimony come together in an amazing way! This book has longer chapters and is a few hundred pages in length BUT--If you are like me and enjoy reading short chapters and straight to the point non-fiction...I encourage you to stay the course with Some Days You Dance...you will be glad you did...I know I was!
I know, you're thinking the author shouldn't write a review on her own book, right? But I have to be brutally honest. I love this book! No kidding. I'm on my 4th read in a year. (Even though it has just been published, I was able to read the manuscripts along the way.) I am so uplifted and encouraged as I read it. How can that be when it's my book? Because truth brings freedom, that's how. When I read it I laugh. I cry (and it isn't easy to get me to cry). And I walk away with ageless principles that can be applied to any situation to bring the right results. Amazing! I highly recommend for Christian or non-Christian. Makes a great gift too.
I highly recommend this book! This is part life story and part teaching. The point of the book is that a Christian will still have flaws as the mind, will, and emotions take longer to change. The author shows us through her life story that instant change is unrealistic. The end of the book contains a Discovery Guide to work through.
Some Days You Dance - the title alone just screams freedom to me. And really, isn't that what we all want - to be free? Because for some of us, having a relationship with Christ is just the first step to that freedom. While we have a new life with Christ, a lot of times we still hold onto our old hurts, regrets and offenses...like carrying baggage into a new relationship. But this book of Vikki's own personal experience walks you through truly letting go of it all.
