Keeping Kennedy de Debra Webb

Argumento:

I have to say I really like this book! It was so cute and the banter between Kennedy and Drake was so fun that I found myself smiling from ear to ear. This was a sweet romance where two friends end up seeing other in a completely different light.

Ok so Kennedy loves her career and relationships never interested her and she never really paid attention to guys in her life including her super, sexy neighbor Drake. Now they are friends and as such she is forced to ask him to pretend to be her fiance on her trip back home for week-long reunion celebrations. Soon these two start having feelings for each other as they engage with the antics with her parents and townspeople. They try to resist their urges for fears that it will change their friendship, but the sexual tension becomes too much.

Before you know it these two hook up and the emotional impact that occurs next is so sweet and tender that it will brighten your day and make you feel warm inside knowing something beautiful happened.

Kennedy needs a fiancé right away since she purported a big lie to her parents about being engaged. She decides to ask her neighbor, Drake, to be that fiancé because of all the help she would do for him when he left out of town. He agrees and they set out of town to Kennedy’s hometown for her ten year high school reunion. There they discover things about each other that makes them realize that they both want more out of life than the work ridden one they have. They also watch other couples in the town find love again and Kennedy realizes how much she didn’t know about her own parents or her uncle. This story has some very good twists and turns and most of all some funny parts but it shows love can be had if you just let it find its way to your heart.

An over-achieving woman with no personal life asks her neighbour to be her pretend fiancee for a week.
Under pressure from her parents the previous Christmas Kennedy Malone, 30, announced that she was engaged to alpha male Douglas Drake, 33.
With her class re-union just around the corner she has no option but to fish or cut bait.
Luckily, Douglas agrees.
Their visit to her home town goes exactly as you'd expect – mutual attraction, emotional dependence, all leading to a HEA.
There are some nice scenes, particularly those concerning the 'Kidding Bandit' and Larry's dancing lessons.
The story is nothing new and it is somewhat marred by irritating spelling and grammatical errors.

Good story...

I loved the story. But toooo many grammatical and spelling mistakes that took away from the story. Hate when that happens.

This book was definitely not like anything I expected. Honestly, I never really know what to expect when it comes to books, but I always have some sort of idea in my mind of what books could possibly contain. I guess I just really didn't expect any of the erotica-type scenes that were in the book, because I've never read a book that went into detail about anything to do with sex that wasn't an erotica-novel. But, I've also never read a book by Debra Webb before so that might be it too.

I think this book was a fun read. It doesn't take long to finish, so it's great for someone who wants or needs to get through a book quickly.

For the story itself, I would've rated it 4 stars because it was fun and enjoyable. The characters (for the most part) are believable, which is nice because people want to be able to relate to the book somehow. It's a cute love story about two neighbors who have known each other for years, and through certain events, fall in love. Now, the only thing about this story that I didn't like and made me want to rate it lower is that at the end, the two love birds get engaged after only a week of realizing they were attracted to each other. I hate stories like that, because I am not a believer in love-at-first-sight, which this story pretty much seems to be like. If you're one of those people who is a "hopeless-romantic" or always wants the main female and main male characters to be together in the end, this book is for you.

For the mechanics of the book, I rate it a 2. It was really disappointing to me when I would have to pause while reading, to look back and re-read the sentence a few times to understand it because the spelling or grammar was wrong. I don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that I read it on my kindle app instead of the actual book, but there were just way too many spelling and grammar mistakes. I feel like the author and editor should've caught on to something I could spot so easily. Yes, when you're so engrossed in the story you're writing, sometimes you miss a few of your errors. I've done that before while writing essays. But that's what editors are for. That's why you leave it alone for a few days and check it again later. It just didn't seem very professional to me.

A quick and entertaining read. Kennedy is a likeable character who finds herself in a sticky situation of her own making. She forces her good-looking neighbour to help her out, only to find herself falling for him. However, what would a good looking, well sought after bachelor see in her?
Drake finds himself drawn into helping out his friend and neigbur, who has lied to family and friends and told them that the two are engaged. Visiting a small town, and being welcomed into a warm and living, if somewhat quirky family, has him reassessing his personal goals for life. Is Kennedy what he has been looking for all along?
Silly situations and crazy family members make a week in Friendly Corners an adventure neither Kennedy nor Drake were expecting. It will make you smile, and give you a fun escape.

As I enjoyed "Here to Stay" so much by the same author I decided to try this book and so glad I did.
it is a typical man and woman neighbours for three years but good friends.
Kennedy is a workaholic and Drake is a photographer who is always going off on assignments and always seems to have a steady stream of women at his door.
She needs a big favour from him and wants him to pretend to be her fiance for a week when she goes back to her parents as they are contstantly on her back about settling down.
You know where it is going to end but Debra takes us along at a good pace and you just know that you want them to get together.
Loved all the supporting characters and as it was quite a short book I read it in one morning, although I am quite a quick reader.
I have now brought another couple of Debra's books and will look forward to reading them.

Kennedy is a beautiful high paid PR consultant for the big wigs of politics in Washington DC. She is happy with her life and has everything she wants but to get her friends and family to stop trying to fix her up and marry her off, she invented a fiance. But not just any fiance, Drake her extremely HOT neighbor and friend. Therefore, when her High School reunion rolls around she has to convince Drake to come home with her for the week to pose as her fiance.

Drake being the nice guy that he is agrees to her plan. But things immediately get complicated as the friend lines get blurred. The end result is a laugh out loud sweet romance that has just the right amount of heat. The quirky townspeople will have you laughing and enjoying the read.

description

I liked the characters and the story, but the ending was too rushed and an epilogue would have been nice. My biggest issue was the absurd amount of grammatical errors in the book. The book needs a good proof reading!

This book was ok, I like it buuut it was very predictable and confusing sometimes, at least for me, I enjoy the caracter of Drake and dislike the caracter of Kennedy, she was a little frustrating, and a good thing was that this book was a quick read.
