The wet, the cold, the seasick crew; who knew a background in karate would help someone survive even the most harsh of circumstances? Sam Fox, that's who!

Sam has learned that his time spent with his older brother, Nathan, (a survivalist expert), coupled with time spent learning martial arts are invaluable tools he has access to in order to stay calm and face tough situations head on. His nerves may get racked; but, he's able to come through time and again for himself, those he cares about, and the unfortunates who find themselves in danger alongside of him.

In this installment of the "Extreme Adventure" there be whales, seals, penguins, and pirates; not to mention, illegal whaling ships that must be stopped! It's non-stop adventure with a large scale goal: Bringing to light global issues that need to be resolved.

A solid 4 stars. It's a storyline that is equally far fetched to its realistic counterparts; a storyline that keeps you wanting more. With the larger heart of this book factored in, no less than a 4 star rating will suffice!

Another great book from Justin D'Ath. I highly recommend these "Extreme Adventure" reads for any middle grade reader. This series is one that's simply unputdownable! Kudos to the author and a big, "Thank You!" Mr. Justin D'Ath, you truly have made reading fun.

Sam Fox returns in this the fourth of his extreme adventures, as the series is titled that I have read. This one involves the title creature, and more action than any normal person can handle in a lifetime, but which for Mr Fox is apparently a normally at the office.
If I was Mr Fox I think I would be investing in a house that I never left!
It is entertaining, but ultimately completely ridiculous.

Despite the cover, this book is more about the whaling ships that hunt whales for meat and the ways environmentalists try to stop them. Still very exciting, especially for kids. It's basically non stop action/crisis the whole book and I think the whole book takes place in 1-2 days.

Started out super exciting-we couldn’t put it down (I read this to my 10 year old). The middle was kind of meh, especially compared to the beginning. But the end was good too.

Killer Whale is another fast-paced, frenzy of a story that takes a sharp turn from the norm. In every book, we find Sam evading all types of danger, and coming out it relatively unharmed. the difference in this story is that Sam learned how selfish some people can be and finds himself involved with a radical environmental advocacy group. Yes, Earth First is a real group of people that sometimes take things to extreme measures to protect the Earth and the creature that live on it from humans that they fell are doing them harm.

Sam Fox is a fun character that all readers will instantly bond with. He has a way of finding himself in tricky situations that are often life-threatening, but always seems to find a way of of them, only to find himself in another. In this book, once he is on the ship, it isn't his life that is danger. Well, not very much, anyway. But it is the whales that are in danger from illegal poaching. Sam joins the crew of the environmental activist to help them stop the killing of whales.

I have been an environmentalist since I went to college. It was actually part of my major and I appreciate any work done on protecting the land, sea, and the animals that live on this fine planet of ours. So, I was pleased to find this book going in a slightly different direction that other book in this series have done. I appreciate what the author, Justin D'Ath came up with and hope that young readers will see the wisdom in protecting our planet before it is too late.

Overall, Killer Whale is another great story in one of my favorite young reader thriller series. I am always excited to pick up a new book in the Extreme Adventures series, as I know that I will be in for one heck of a roller coaster ride. I highly recommend this book, and this series, to any adrenaline junkies that just want to have the excitement jump off the pages right into their face! I look forward, with great anticipation, to seeing what happens next in Grizzly Trap. I don't know how long I will be able to bear waiting to read it. Ha! Get it? Bear! Like a grizzly bear.

I rated this book a 8 out of 10.
