A very dry text that’s definitely not a guide for beginners. If, on the other hand, you are familiar with the basics of bookbinding, this is a treasure trove of new techniques and tips. It’s mostly text based with minimum illustrated guidance, but really useful if you are already familiar with common terms and good at following written instructions. It has a small section in book restoration that pretty much makes up for any other thing one might find lacking.
Wish I could keep this book - it's from the library - because even though Richmond includes a lot of extraneous information, doesn't have great/many illustrations, and gears her book specifically to Brits, it is a wealth of information on how to bind books.
