Funny, sobering and insightful peek inside the mind and art of an activist living in the betwixt and between of American and Mexican/Mexican Indigenous cultures, looking to preserve and extend their own cultures and teach gringos the histories, concerns and realities of a culture that's already inside their own communities.

Gomez-Pena's work of the mid- to late '90's is presented in a fairly comprehensive manner, giving interesting isight into his prorcess, and how this body of work fits into his earlier performances and collaborative efforts.

The older I get, the more I appreciate the wisdom, clarity, and delicate balance of humor and deep worry I find in Gomez-Pena's work. I am so grateful he has chosen to do it.
