Another instance in which I’m only giving this book five stars because Good Reads won’t let me go any higher. One of the top three most enjoyable novels I’ve ever read, by an off the grid novelist at that. An absolute must read for any fantasy enthusiast. Such a unique and experimental spin on fantasy-adventure-quest stories that comes together perfectly. The cast of characters complements each other in a brilliantly witty manner.

I love this book, got me back into reading. My only complaint is the silliness of the main characters main saying gets a bit annoying.

This book sort of just launches into things, sort of like you are beginning in the middle of the book. But then it begins to decode what is going on and a profound sense of depth begins to permeate the story. This book is really good and the characters and battle scenes are very well done. In fact, there are a few scenes that I feel are the most well-designed battles I've ever found in a fantasy novel. Great energy and description. Bilicic is very comfortable with his story and obviously knows how to gain the reader's buy-in. Now that I have finished this book, I am amazed that I have not heard of him before. I am currently reading Pilgrimage of the Dead, the sequel to this book and it is only elevates the story. Excellent fantasy.
