Scriptures and Meditations on Faith and God's promises. This is a short book designed to make you think and consider God's word in one of its many facets. Hopefully you'll see God's word in a new way.
Pauline Creeden is an award-winning author, horse trainer, and overall book ninja. She becomes the main character in each of her stories, and because she has ADD, she will get bored if she pretends to be one person for too long.
Armored Hearts, her joint effort with author Melissa Turner Lee, has been a #1 Bestseller in Christian Fantasy and been awarded the Crowned Heart for Excellence by InDtale Magazine. Her debut novel, Sanctuary, won 1st Place Christian YA Title 2013 Dante Rosetti Award and 2014 Gold Award for First Place YA Horror Novel.
This was just a teaser. I liked many of the 101 notes. The one that struck me most was that a person does not eat only once or twice a week. Instead, they eat several times a day. This means that going to church once a week is not enough. I need to eat God's word daily. Food for thought.
This 'devotional' was really short (even though it lasted 101 days). All there was to it was a scripture verse or a short note about faith from the author. I have found that I prefer my devotionals to have a little more meat to them, but if you like short-and-sweet, this is definitely something you might enjoy.
Every other "note" is a written out Scripture verse that inspires/goes with them. This was a very short, and different Bible devotional format than I am familiar with. After reading several notes and verses during my God and I time, I chose one of the verses and read the entire chapter in my Bible. This was a Goodreads giveaway. Thanks so much!
I had one question, but I forgot it. I have no real complaints about this book. Forgive me if I seem luke warm in this review. The author had good intentions, and I am sure someone could benefit from this book.
This book was inspirational using scriptures to address various topics. I've read them all before many times but the order they were in spoke to my heart.
It makes a good study tool for new Christians to use to help them study the bible. I didn't find anything I didn't like. I would highly suggest this to friends and family.
1. you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. (Romans 10:9-10) 6 months agoShare... 2. Adversity and loss can often become the rudder by which our life is steered to come closer to God. We re-prioritize and discover what really has importance, and what remains shallow and unworthy of our time and energies. ~*~*~ 30. That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day. (2 Timothy 1:12) 6 months agoShare... 3. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.(Romans 8:38-39) 6 months agoShare... 4. We are busy trying to replace God: heal ourselves, make ourselves feel better, comfort ourselves, or solve our own problems. We become divided in our attempt to serve ourselves and God. But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. (Psalm 86:11) ~*~*~ 37. It includes quotes from the Bible and interesting thoughts. The subtitle seems to be "Scriptures and Meditations on God’s Promises", which accurately describes it if you understand meditations to be thoughts or contemplations. Like another reader, the following thought stood out: "You do not eat only once or twice per week. If you did, how much strength would you have? So don’t think that going to church on Sunday or reading a chapter or two of the Bible per week is enough. Just like you have to eat every day, you have to eat God’s word every day, too."
A short booklet form with inspirational quotes from the Bible and words of wisdom/encouragement from the author. I can see this as a witnessing tool to share with unbelievers or new believers.
Not bad, and useful to have the WORD handy without having to search the Bible to share with others.
I think I would have appreciated this more had it been in aesthetically presentable package. Didn't practically like the format, but content helpful.
The book fulfilled my expectations. The author appeared in the book as a narrator. I did enjoy the book because it expanded my mind when it comes to my own faith and spirituality. It was on par and better in some ways that other books in this genre.I was pulled into the book. The author’s presence was very fitting and appropriate. The themes are faith and religion. They were the focal point of the book.It ended exactly how I expected.
I chose this book b cause I enjoy anything that expresses God's mighty, undying love for us. Overall, I liked the book, but one thing that sticks in my mind us that we do not eat once a day or so, there we cannot or shouldn't scatter our time with God. We need Him in our lives, he feeds our spiritual appetite and so much more. I recommend this book. It is a very quick, brief read, but one I feel others will enjoy.
I got this for my Kindle, and I enjoyed the evenings reading it. It's a really good resource for being more hopeful, positive, and closer to God. It includes prayers, thoughts, and bible verses about love, thanks, hope, praise, and comfort.
This is a very uplifting book. It reminds me of God's love for me. It also helps me to remember the importance of keeping God first in my life. This is just the type of book you can pick up and read and it will remind you that God should be your first priority.
"101 Faith Notes" by Pauline Creeden is a nice collection of scriptures, motivational quotes, and wisdom. It's short but worth a read for the guidance it provides. It also has some bonus teasers of some of her other works at the end of it.
My aunt recommended this book and it was a great read for my lunch breaks. Got to come back from lunch refreshed and actually helped make the afternoons much easier to get through!
