I've reviewed a few of Melissa Schroeders books on my blog and I am a huge fan of hers. My favorite series from her is the Harmless series, and A Little Harmless Fascination is no exception!
Conner, after being in the hospital suffering from chest pains goes to Hawaii after his younger sister forces him to take time off of work and relax. Former FBI agent turned security expert is a workaholic, so the last thing that he wants to do is relax. In Hawaii he stays with Jillian, his sisters best friend. Jillian comes from a screwed up family and is the complete opposite of Conner. Jillian always wanted to me a sub, but it is hard for her to trust a man enough to open herself up like that. Knowing Conner for over 10 years and knowing the kind of guy he is, she knows that she can trust him 100%, thus begins their Dom/sub relationship, which leads to something neither of them were expecting.
I loved Conner! For those of you who are familiar with the Harmless series, I never thought a guy could come close to Evan, but Conner is definitely high up there! Jillian describes him as "quiet, domineering and gorgeous". What girl wouldn't be attracted that? I also really liked Jillian's character. I felt bad for her because of all of her family drama, but she was a good person who deserved so much happiness.
A Little Harmless Fascination is just as hot and sexy as the other books in the series! It isn't as heavy in the BDSM as some of the other books, but it was still a very entertaining and enjoyable read!

Melissa Schroeder has once again written a fantastic story in the Harmless series. I admit I’m a little addicted to this series and eagerly await each installment. Not only because I can’t wait for the “new” story but because I know Melissa will also “check in” with previous characters which makes the stories all the more fascinating to me!
This book opens with Conner Dillon (who we met previously in A Little Harmless Lie) lying in a hospital bed following some chest pains. His sister Maura, along with his business partner, and his doctor insist that he needs a vacation and some relaxation. Maura arranges for him to rent a place from her ex college roommate and best friend, Jillian Sawyer. Jillian has always been attracted to Conner but she knows she will never get involved with him because of her friendship with Maura.
Conner is and ex-FBI agent and part owner of a security business. He’s a workaholic who doesn’t take time for himself, relationships (other than with his sister), or any thing fun. He’s strong, capable, and a Dom. He also knows he’s going to have a hard time keeping his naughty thoughts about Jillian from becoming a reality.
Jillian…..I can’t help but wonder if Melissa was channeling her own self here. Jillian is an erotic romance author who loves to write and enjoys the research aspect of her job. She’s tattooed and pierced and wears dreads. (Okay, maybe that’s not Melissa!) Her mixed heritage leads to her interesting good looks. She has distanced herself from what she refers to as her “crazy family”. She lives a fairly antisocial life although she remains in contact with Maura and has immersed herself in the Hawaiian culture.
Jillian feels somewhat responsible for Conner since she has promised Maura that she will “look after” him. They spend quite a bit of time visiting the local sites and enjoying each others company. Conner also meets up with old friends at Rough & Ready (the local BDSM club) and while there discovers that Jillian is there “doing research”. Conner doesn’t like the attention Jillian has garnered at the club and his dominate and very bossy personality comes to light. Jillian pretty much tells Conner she knows he’s a Dom. Things heat up and they fall into a relationship. While there are elements of BDSM in this book, it’s not quite as heavy or as much as some of the other books and there is no “public” play. Everything they do is in private.
Soon Jillian finds herself receiving threats. Conner and his local buddies try to figure out where the threat is coming from and Conner finds himself caring way more than he intended to for Jillian. Jillian flat out tells Conner she loves him which of course freaks him out a bit. Eventually things come to a head and they stop being stubborn and work their way towards being happy together.
It’s just so hard not to like these books. The great Hawaii setting, the wonderful cast of current and past characters whose lives all seem to overlap, the snappy dialog, and the hotter than hot sex scenes mixed with some BDSM elements makes this a must read offering from Melissa Schroeder. If you haven’t read this series, I highly recommend it. Start from the beginning you won’t be sorry and make sure you check out the “shorts” that Melissa regularly releases. I love the “shorts” as they give us even more insight into the characters we’ve grown to know and love!

A LITTLE HARMLESS FASCINATION is the latest installment of the Harmless series by Melissa Schroeder, and it’s aptly named because I am completely fascinated with this series.
This book is about Conner Dillon. He’s the ex-FBI agent from A LITTLE HARMLESS LIE who was supposed to protect Dee when she ran away. Well, he is forced into vacation by his sister, and he happens to land in Hawaii (imagine that). The plan is for him to relax for a month and rent a room from his sister's old college roommate Jillian, who just happens to really turn Conner’s crank!
Jillian Sawyer has always had a crush on her good friend’s older brother, Conner, but seeing him in out of his usual suit and tie apparel and demeanor really makes him sexier. She has issues with her family, so she’s not really into relationships, but a fling with Conner may just be what she needs.
Then they sleep together. It’s explosive and addictive, and neither one of them are satisfied with a one time thing. But the more they are together, the harder they fall for each other. Soon, the real fun begins because it becomes apparent that someone is out to get Jillian.
A LITTLE HARMLESS FASCINATION had it all: romance, snark, suspense, and total hotness between the sheets, on the table, on the floor, or wherever else Conner Dillon could think of! I completely devoured this pages of this book from beginning to end.
Conner and Jillian on the surface didn’t seem like they would be right for each other: he appears conservative and all about the job, and Jillian was more of a carefree, bohemian personality. But beneath that surface, the two appealed to each other on a much deeper level--even more than they could have realized.
The plot has a great amount of mystery and suspense. I didn’t figure out who was after Jillian until the end. The author definitely got me that time. I’m usually better at that!
One of my favorite things about this series is that I get to catch up with the Harmless gang. Characters from past books always make an appearance, and we get to see how their HEA’s are going. This book was no different and I was happy to see some of my favorite couples. And I think we got some hints about some future books!
So, A LITTLE HARMLESS FASCINATION was another hit in this fantastic series. I loved everything about it, and I’m looking forward to future installments. This book is book seven in the series, and while it could be read as a standalone, I think you would be missing out on a great series if you don’t start from book one.

Maura Dillon was tired of standing aside and watching her brother Conner work himself to death. Something was going to change when he got out of the hospital bed he was in now, before the pains in his chest escalated into a heart attack. He was going to take some time off and enjoy life.
Jillian Sawyer had got a taste of the Dillon’s when she spent two years as Maura’s roommate in university. Now the tattooed and pierced erotic author was landlady for Conner for the next month at her Hawaiian beach hideaway. She knew he didn’t want to be here but the mandatory vacation her friend had sent her brother on was now in her hands. She might have fun with the man her hidden submissive side knew to be a Dom but even though he was probably more than she could handle but losing her best friend in the bargain would be too much to risk.
Conner Dillon was reluctant to go on this vacation but he could never say no to the sister he had practically raised and being in the company of her best friend for a month was not a bad thing either. Getting closer than he had ever imagined to the sexy cocoa skinned beauty was not on the agenda but catching her “researching” in his friend’s BDSM club gave him the push to claim her like no other had before.
When their private time is invaded, Conner knows that it is a threat from the past but figuring out who’s past might put them both in danger of losing everything.
This book is hot and I do not mean from the sand of the Hawaiian beach it is set on. I love this series and although, IMHO it is a bit lighter on the BDSM than other books in the series it still is a sizzling read. Jillian is smart, sassy and despite her upbringing values family and friends more than anything. Well with the exception of her privacy. Conner is the hard-nosed former FBI agent who is willing to pass up on the best thing that has ever happened to him if it means hurting his baby sister…. Thankfully Jillian cracks that last shell of protectiveness and he teaches her just what it means to submit to a man and to give in to their hearts desire to find love.

He is a total workaholic. The doctor orders a month off and Connors’ sister convinces him to go to Hawaii where he can learn to relax and stay in the apartment her former college roomie rents out.
Jillian is an erotic author with family issues. With her braids, tattoos and piercings she looks like the opposite of uptight, bossy Connor. But in reality she has just as much stress in her life. Attitude is everything.
Connor isn’t happy to be on forced vacation but when he sees Jillian he thinks it might not be so bad after all. Jillian has had a crush on Connor since college. After scratching the itch they find once is not enough. Top it off with a threat to Jillian and Hawaii gets even hotter.
I get a kick out of this series. I was tickled to catch up with several of the characters of the previous books in this one. Connor is a Dom but he is also really bossy. It is done with a good heart but he is bossy anyway. It is going to take someone as well centered as Jillian to put up with and deal with him. I really liked Jillian. I think it would take someone with history, like Connor, to help her get over her trust issues. This is a well thought out, romantic, suspenseful, smoking hot read.

Set in the beautiful state of Hawiaii, our heroine has a wierd family that doesn't like the fact that Jillian holds their purse strings in her hands.
Conner is a business man who doesn't know how to have fun, or take vacations until he is forced to because of his health.
They have known each other for several years, but now there is an attraction and a threat. Lots of Hot lovin, with a little suspense thrown in.

A Little Harmless Fascination is the seventh book in Harmless series by Melissa Schroeder and it’s a strong showing in this delicious series. Conner Dillon is a Dom who doesn’t realize how much he needs a sub, pair that with Jillian, a sub who doesn’t know if she can handle a Dom and it’s a delicious thrill ride. This book was hot and kept you guessing the whole time. If you haven’t read any of the Harmless books, just dive in and fall in love. I can’t wait for the next installment, each book just keeps getting better and better.

I love this series so much and cannot get enough of it! Melissa Schroeder has written another great story with strong characters, great friendships and passionate sex scenes. Conner and Jillian complemented each other nicely. I enjoyed how she showed him to relax and have fun while he showed her he could be trusted by letting herself go and submitting to him in the bedroom. It was fun watching them fall in love and finding their happy ending.

3.5- this whole series should be considered a guilty pleasure and A Little Harmless Fasination is no different. BDSM-ultra lite, romantic suspense-lite, a heroine I liked, and a sexy hero. Perfect for a quick read.

I've loved all the rest of the books in this series, but I just wasn't feeling this one. I just didn't feel connected to the characters at all - and I didn't feel any connection between them. Boo.

Conner needs to take a month off work after a scary health issue. He ends up in Hawaii staying with his sister’s friend, Jillian. He is a high stress former FBI agent and she is a bohemian author. Together they learn to love and trust. Can they stop the bad guy before it’s too late?
Conner was introduced in a prior novel. It turns out the author had more to tell about him. He has some adult interests that make him fit in the world of this series. I really like that he needed the time to heal after his medical scare and he actually took it. I also like that he has known Jillian for years but was finally ready to allow himself to be attracted to her. Jillian was a great character. She is way more complex than the simple bohemian character she starts out as in the story. Her willingness to admit that she has been attracted to Conner for years but still be with him now as the man he is. They make a really good couple. I really like the end of the story. (No spoilers!)
The bad guy is woven gently into the story. If you are looking for big, scary explosive bad guy stuff, you won’t get that with this story. The author chose to make the danger of the bad guy more of a bit of background noise that became louder the further the story progressed. I really liked that. Yes, I’m trying to not give away any of the little twists and turns the author so carefully crafted. There are appearances by characters from prior stories and some newly introduced side characters. They all add to the overall story.
This is a contemporary romance with certain adult activities included. This is a little sister’s best friend to lover story. Both of the main characters are adults with very busy lives and careers. I am looking forward to read the next book in the series because it is about Conner’s sister, Maura. I will read more from this author in the future.

The bad guy is woven gently into the story. If you are looking for big, scary explosive bad guy stuff, you won’t get that with this story. The author chose to make the danger of the bad guy more of a bit of background noise that became louder the further the story progressed. I really liked that. Yes, I’m trying to not give away any of the little twists and turns the author so carefully crafted. There are appearances by characters from prior stories and some newly introduced side characters. They all add to the overall story.
This is a contemporary romance with certain adult activities included. This is a little sister’s best friend to lover story. Both of the main characters are adults with very busy lives and careers. I am looking forward to read the next book in the series because it is about Conner’s sister, Maura. I will read more from this author in the future.

Lot of Unfulfilled Potential & Way Too Many Spelling Mistakes
The premise had some potential, but as I’ve noticed frequently with this author’s style of writing, she doesn’t really develop the relationship and growth between the characters; they just suddenly start having grandiose feelings and assumptions about each other in literally a few days without any substantive and incremental development and showcase of time and experiences and dialogue. Everything is forced and trite, and we’re supposed to rely on brief mentioning of history between the characters to make their sudden relationship more meaningful.
Furthermore, the so-called BDSM is really lacking and extremely mild in the form of a few scarves, some spanking, and a little orgasm control, which is very limited and unimaginative and uninteresting, and there are so many things to include and explore within D/s. I do appreciate the author including a lot of detailed oral pleasure for the woman.
Additionally, the idea that certain characters who are supposed to be so intelligent and have worked in high level government positions figure out at the last minute what’s going is equally eye rolling and annoying and just plain stupid.
Lastly, what further annoys me and distracts me from really getting in this story and her others are way too many obvious spelling and grammatical issues. Who is editing and checking for these things cuz this is just plain dumb and lazy, not to mention the amount is just appallingly unacceptable.

This is book two in The Rough ‘ N ‘ Ready series and it is Connor and Jillian’s story. Connor is a security expert and when he is forced to take a break his sister decides that he needs to go to Hawaii to have a rest but what Conner doesn’t know is that this trip is going to change his life. Jillian is a romance author and the more steamy the better and when Conner arrives for a for a holiday Jillian is beyond excited because she has had a crush on Conner for years. The attraction and chemistry between Jillian and Connor is off the charts hot and when they find that they are unable to deny how much they want each other they eventually give in and have a explosive night together but they can’t seem to keep away from each other and feelings start to develop and just when everything is starting to fall into place danger arrives and Jillian has a target on her back and Connor is determined to protect and keep her safe regardless of what he has to do or the consequences that he finds himself in because he wants a future with Jillian and nobody is going to take that away from them. I really enjoyed this book so much and it was great to catch up with some friends along the way and I really look forward to reading Maura’s story next.

Conner is forced to take a vacation and he ends up at his sister’s friend’s place but when he finds her at the club all bets are off. Jillian is not a young girl anymore she has grown into aa beautiful woman and Conner cannot deny the attraction he has to her. I enjoyed seeing the way Jillian and Conner come together. The two are good for each other and it was nice to see their friendship turn into something much deeper but not everyone is happy about that and danger comes looking for them. Their story has a nice mix of danger and romance. I was quickly immersed in their story and loved seeing how everyone comes together to help when it is needed. This book moves at a good pace and is a nice addition to the series.

Rough Fascination is the 2nd book in the Rough 'n Ready series, but it's neither heavy on kink nor does the club play a heavy role in the plot. Rather it's a place for Conner to connect with friends and former collegues - all of which had their stories told before. So while his and Jillian's romance stands alone, I recommend reading the Harmless novels for all the deeds on the supporting characters. Rough Fascination is an entertaining page-turner which is easy to read and made me feel good, with lots of lovely descriptions of island life, true friendships, a bit of family drama and a love that's meant to be. Looking forwrad to Maura's story next!.

I more than loved this book !
As always with miss Melissa, the storyline is very captivating, with lots of emotions, strong characters, very nice steamy scenes and a touch or two of drama.

Fascinating
This book is part of the Harmless series by Melissa Schroder. I have not read any of the other books in the series but this book is easy to navigate and has many of the other characters from previous and upcoming books in the franchise. I have already picked out my next read! Jillian and Conner are connected through his sister Maura....her story is next in line and it is a ménage. Conner comes to Hawaii to relax and refresh after a health scare. He stays in one of Jillian’s apartments and their attraction is intense. Unfortunately, someone is trying to cut their fun times short by targeting Jillian. Can Conner save her and open his heart? Loved this story!

This is Book 2 of Rough 'n Ready starring Security expert Conner Dillon and Romance writer Jillian Sawyer. Holly mack and sauce this book is hot and amazing, I loved how sassy Jillian is and the way she speaks her mind will have you laughing at how bold she is. I loved how protective but dominant Conner is. I loved the craziness of Jillian’s family and her neighbors too. I knew who was trying to hurt Jillian before it came out but was shocked at why. I have to say you will love turning these pages and finding an adventure along with these two characters.

This author has a melting pot of characters in most of her books and she knows how to craft a story. This is the 20th Anniversary of the release of 'A Little Harmless Fascination' with new scenes and epilogue and surprisingly this is my first time reading this story.
Can I just say—I'm so not a fan of BDSM, it's one of the most overused tools/plot device in Romance today, so I didn't enjoy that aspect of the story, but I do acknowledge the scenes were sizzling hot. Lastly, I wanted the heroine to reveal her news with words. Instead, readers have to read between the lines. Just no!
Overall, this is a good story—not perfect, but very enjoyable. Highly Recommended: Read It!

So reading the twentieth anniversary edition of the book was great, and it included new material and other things. This story find Jillian Sawyer and Conner Dillon meeting and love and smoking hot passion are soon ensuing. These two were never meant to catch feelings, as it was just some dirty hot fun. But when the trade winds of Hawaii are blowing and the moon is full love is never far behind.

What made this book a five star was the characters. Conner is the uptight workaholic that has met his match in feisty Jillian. She is a free spirit, who isn't afraid to go after what she wants and is the only normal person in her crazy family. Conner may be learning to let go and enjoy a little of what Hawaii has to offer, but is right where he needs to be when Jillian's life is threatened. Great characters, beautiful scenery, family drama, suspense and steamy romance. Rough Fascination has it all.

I always get super excited when Melissa Schroeder releases another book. She has been and always will be a favorite author. Rough Fascination is book 2 in the Harmless World Series and its Jillian and Conner's story. Their story will have you addicted from start to finish. Jillian has been attracted to Connor for a long time but it's not until he comes to Hawaii that they finally come together. Unfortunately someone is threatening Jillian so if you are looking for a steamy page turner this book is definitely for you.
