Synopsis

This colorful book gives a brief overview of some of the most popular Marvel heros.

Review

While this book is catalogued as an early reader, it is more appropriate as a tranisitonal reader or at least it's appropriate for a recently independent reader. In fact, the back cover of the book recommends this for an independent reader. There are quite a few words per page and the pictures don't help much to decode the text. They are mainly just pictures of the various heros. However, it's a quick overview of familiar comic book heros. A child who is familiar with Jean Grey, for example, would fairly easily be able to decode the taxt about her powers. At the back of the book is a glossary of some of the more difficult terms. Not only will this help kids learn the words, it introduces them to skills that will help them problem solve in the future.

While this book is a bit more advanced than other easy readers, the subject matter is one that is likely to appeal to a large number of kids.
