WAYFARERS by Windfred Cook is an exciting powerful historical fiction set against the Post-Civil War,Tennessee. It is written with depth and details.The characters jump off the pages and will capture your heart as you go on their journey of hate,loss,grief, love,redemption,healing,happiness,racist,bigots,a Tennessee plantation called "Hawthorne Manor",slavery,homosexuality,hardship,danger and a love story."Wayfarers" is the story of two young boys,one black and one white(Jerry and Daniel). One a slave and the other the master's son. What started as a brotherly love became much more.Their struggles through life during post-Civil War times and their love. "Wayfarers" is a fascinating story of love and loss. A must read for any historical,Post-Civil War buffs,American history,and possible controvisal readers. A very interesting story. A different Take on Slavery and the South.

Well, I must say, this was by far a very different book, and not what I expected. My romantic heart enjoys a good love story, and as I read along, I found myself, more and more enraptured and couldn't wait to learn what would happened next. A good quick read and a different kind of gay romance. I loved it!
