Reality TV, riches, and a race for romance—with a taste of the tropics! Yes, please! Sign me up. An all-new season is filming in the secluded island paradise of Fiji and the directors are hunting for contestants with the enticing tagline: Want to shine in the spotlight?
But Andrew Meyers already does! He doesn’t need an outrageous action-adventure reality show to find a girl. He’s professional football’s most sought-after quarterback. Trailed by cameras, women, football junkies, and more, he craves ibuprofen ten times more than attention. All he wants to do is play football—without the paparazzi! Well…and win back the love of his life who won’t give him the time of the day. But perhaps if they were stuck on a desert island together, she would?
Hannah Cooper is cautious about falling in love. Ever since she dated the quarterback king of football, relationships have been tough. She’s harboring a deep wound from their unforgettable time together, and moving on from her intense feelings for him hasn’t been easy. After all, how could she? His handsome face is splashed across every TV screen, magazine, and internet site in the world. But this time, she’s decided to move on for good—because what better place to fall in love than on a secluded island with a group of commitment-seeking single men!
Lisa S. Gayle lives in the beautiful, mountainous Pacific Northwest. She enjoys traveling and all things outdoors, including hiking, camping, and s'mores. She's a soccer mom who loves to take her family on adventures while attempting to keep up with her energetic husband and children.
She specializes in contemporary romance and believes in falling in love with a happily ever after.
Following in her brother's footsteps, Hannah Cooper is joining the cast of hit reality TV show 'Race for Riches or Romance' with her best friend Bren. But when he's taken down by the flu, she has no choice but to accept his last minute replacement; her ex-boyfriend Andrew Meyers.
Andrew may be the NFL's hottest quarterback, but he isn't interested in the fame. All he wants to do is play football and win Hannah back, even without knowing why she ended things in the first place.
As the Fiji based reality show tests them to their limits, will Andrew be able to prove to Hannah that he's all in? Or will the secrets eating away at her hold her back from giving their love a second chance?
Thank you to Author @lisasgayle & @booksirens for this ARC. All opinions shared here are my own. I haven't read book 1 in the series and was a little confused with how quickly we were thrown into the reality show. It was clear that this was a forced proximity, second chance romance which I do enjoy, however I found the way that Andrew was immediately forcing his emotions and wants onto Hannah (after not seeing her in years) quite hard to swallow. For me, that behaviour was a 🚩 and tainted the rest of their love story.
I enjoyed the drama of the reality show itself and the behind the scenes look at the lengths people will go to for fame. The supporting characters really enhanced the story and I'm glad that the next book in the series will continue their story.
The second installment in the Race for Riches or Romance is so much fun. I enjoyed that the premise of the reality show was continued; this story takes place during Season 2.
Hannah is a very real female main character. As an EMT and Ski Patrol, she has valuable survival skills, which can only help on a reality television show. She’s strong and sassy, but also vulnerable and sometimes lets her insecurities win out. Who doesn’t do that though? There were some points where she drove me crazy with her back and forth, but then I’d stop to appreciate that she was acting like a real person struggling with the past and bottled-up emotions.
Hannah talks her best friend Brendan into going on the show with her, but he comes down with the flu at the last minute. Knowing Hannah is hoping to find love, Brendan calls Andrew, an NFL quarterback and surprise from Hannah’s past, to fill in at the last minute.
Andrew is a cinnamon roll; I am here for it. He wears his heart on his sleeve and will do anything to be with his high school and college sweetheart, Hannah. There isn’t a single moment where he hides his feelings or intentions. No games. No guessing. Just raw emotion and honesty. It was refreshing.
This book did focus more on the drama of a reality show, so you’ll love it if that’s your thing. I preferred the spotlight on Amity and Easton’s relationship in the first book, but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t enjoy this one as well.
There were a few times when I wasn’t sure where the story was going, but Gayle cleverly closed all the loops and left a few hints for book 3. Overall, it’s a super enjoyable beach read- perfect for summer. Grab some sunscreen, and a cold drink, and let yourself get Tangled in the Tropics.
Thank you to Lisa Gayle for offering me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this Race to Riches or Romance series, and I'm excited to be asked to read this story as well.
We get dropped right into this story with Hannah and Brendan. Hannah's world and near future just got an earthquake as her best friend cannot go on the romance show she has signed up for. But her hunky football quarterback ex Andrew, steps in to fill his position.
I understand who Hannah is and how this book relates to the first book in this series. I love their history beyond the Race to Riches or Romance shows. I also love that they both seem to have unresolved feelings for each other. This book takes place somewhere tropical. Yup, I'm all for Drews's idea of a tropical vacation, but Hannah seems to be hiding something. Hannah seems to have panic attacks and a commitment phobia which is very strange that the big bad quarterback is the one professing his love, and she is running away.
I would love to know the reason this couple broke up in college. I know she wants romance and love, but why can't she accept what is right in front of her? Why is she on reality tv when she clearly doesn't need to be? Hannah is quite possessive for someone who doesn't want the guy, but now she does. She seems to go hot and cold very quickly for Drew. His perfectness is almost women's fiction dreamy.
I feel bad for Hannah and Andrew. Pieces start to come together, and we begin to get a better picture of the why behind their past nothing is said outright. Hannah really needs to communicate with Drew. She seems to only run when things get uncomfortable and not speak. This story appears to have one massive cluster after another. Still, it is reality tv, so it is expected.
This book is more like "Survivor " than the last one, with more drama and less adventure. Near-death moments and the truth of the why from the past comes out. The reality tv show didn't last too long in this case. But it did bring this couple with history closer together.
This book has steamy moments, and I love the epilogues, but I wanted more of the show challenges and less of the everyday stuff. However, this romance is delightful, and I enjoyed the second chance aspects of the story and the swoony jock. His playbook was the best part of the story loved the incorporation.
The end of this is surprising and does give you the taste of a reality tv show that I have come to love in these stories. Unfortunately, the end of this book is almost better than the sparse story of challenges for Drew and Hannah.
I'm giving this book 3 stars. I didn't love it as much as the first one. I liked the setting and concept, but it was more familiar, less fresh, and less exciting than Crush in the Cascades. This story gave us a taste of the reality tv show, but that didn't need to be there for this second chance romance. And as they navigated it and themselves, things launched insta love fast with minimal surprises. Some of the upcoming books look interesting, especially interested in Brendan's.
I read and loved the first book in this series so have been looking forward to this one with relatively high hopes.
Sadly, it didn't live up to my expectations and ended up being just an OK read (the "nothing to write home about" type).
It started well but rapidly got very confusing. Hannah wanted nothing to do with Drew and then it was like I blinked and missed something because everything suddenly changed.
Not only did we not yet have a reason for her not wanting to be with him, all of a sudden she does want to be with him but no real reason to explain such a rapid and drastic change of heart.
I found this lacked both the relationship building amongst characters and the character development found in the first book. I feel like, perhaps, the author was being pressed for a deadline and didn't really get the opportunity to polish this one up (either than or an overly enthusiastic editor decided to cut out important parts that they deemed not relevant to the story for the sake of word count or something like that).
The book did start to improve in the second half and began to redeem itself for me. I honestly think the last couple of chapters and the Epilogue were the best parts of the book because they brought in some of the other characters and we saw a little relationship building happening there. If the whole book had been like this, I'd be rating it much higher. But, as it stands, with parts not so good and other parts great, I'll give it an average rating of being in the middle and an OK read overall.
I haven't given up on this author and I'm curious to see how both Book 3 and the spin-off series mentioned at the end go. I'm hopeful of a return to a similar standard/style of the first one.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Am I glad I read it - yes Was it a waste of my time - not really Would I sit down and read it all over again - no Would I read more by this author based on this book - based solely on this book, I wouldn't seek it out (but having read and enjoyed her first book in this series, I'm willing to give another book a chance)
Tropes: Reality competition show Second chance romance Forced proximity Football player MMC EMT FMC Dual POV
If you take the reality show drama and unnecessary theatrics out of this story, it would've been more enjoyable. I took off stars because Hannah was needlessly wishy washy by giving so many mixed signals... so frustrating. Andrew should NOT have put up with it.
Once Hannah decided she was going to actually do something about her obvious feelings about Andrew and not string him along, then she was more tolerable. I almost DNFd this one because I wanted Andrew to leave her so badly. Was all of this drama on purpose because it's centered around a reality competition show?
In the end, I stuck it out, and Hannah redeemed herself. She was less whiny, embraced her feelings, and finally gave Andrew the love he deserved. Andrew did not deserve the hell she put him through... in the past or during the present situation they were in. But love is blind... so what are you gonna do, huh?
There is spice in this book, but it's short and not very detailed, which is why it got a low rating. But what is mentioned is nice.
Overall, this story was a reminder of why I stopped watching reality TV shows. But if you're a fan of Survivor and the Bachelor/Bachelorette, then this will be your cup of tea. Lots of drama, obvious villain, predictable plot, and of course the winning couple gets together in the end...

Crush in the Cascades was a sleeper hit for me last year. Went in not expecting anything and fell in love with it! So obviously I was very excited for tangled in the tropics. Book two in the series.
Hannah and Drew broke up when he went pro but are clearly meant to be together and he’s through waiting. When her bestie gets sick and can’t go on the show, he enlists Drew to replace him. Being a star nfl player, production immediately clears his last minute entry. I definitely was not expecting a second chance romance between an nfl player and his hs sweetheart on a reality show 😂.
The reality show definitely takes a back burner and really only exists to serve as a foil in this one. I wish we would have gotten more of just them in the competition and not Drew trying to get Hannah to quit at every turn, but I still loved the drama the show created. And we get a lot of fun players from Crush in the Cascades back in this one (Justin even gets his own little bonus epilogue story)
Hannah and Drew are definitely a couple you want to root for. Drew is an absolute cinnamon roll. His tattoo? Come on 😍 Hannah is great too. I’d def want her on my side in an emergency.
A solid second book in the Race to the Riches series! Can’t wait for Rick’s story.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this Lisa!
This is Book Two in the Race for Riches or Romance Series and, although some of the characters and the core reality show premise are returning from Book One, this can be read as a self-contained stand alone. A clean second chance romance, this book will have you smiling and rooting for Hannah and Andrew to get back together after three years apart. Gayle excels at opening up these characters to the reader via the Dual POV format so that we fully understand all the insecurities and excitement that both Hannah and Andrew feel when face to face with each other. For Hannah, there is more to her story than one expects in a romance with a major league sports star, and Andrew’s motivations are equally explored. Although this had a little less humor than Book One, Crush in the Cascades, the drama is well balanced with levity and I was fully engrossed in this HEA. I was delighted to see that more books will be written for this series and I will be back to read all of those as well! For a fun, surprisingly nuanced, and engaging read, Tangle in the Tropics is a great bet for a solid read, and with Andrew in the mix, why wager on whether you will get Riches or Romance when, like Hannah, you can get both?.

The second book in The Race for Riches or Romance series. I read and completely fell in love with the first book, and have waited anxiously, what feels like forever for this second book.
Book two follows the younger sister of the main character from the first, who has entered the second season of the same reality tv series, The Race to Riches and Romance, but this time it heads to Fiji which has a lot of new challenges and adventures. It requires pairs to be coupled up, and Hannah’s best friend falls sick at the last moment, but he sends a fill-in so she doesn’t have to drop-out… her ex! Now she has to figure out how to win challenges and do it with a teammate she broke up with for a reason (a great one that is fully dealt with as the story goes on, and beautifully crafted by the author).
This is a great adventure and second chance romance rolled into one, with characters revisited from book one, some ideas and themes from book one, but a completely new plot and storyline, all new tropes and a whole new feeling. Hannah and ex Andrew (a famous football star), have great banter, their backstory and figuring out the show, how to deal with crazy contestants and navigate through their feelings is a great adventure all its own. I enjoyed it but not quite the same as the first. I still recommend it, but go in knowing it’s a different feeling.
I received an advance review copy from Booksprout and Book Sirens, and this is my honest opinion.
Hannah Cooper wants to be on the reality show like her brother last year. She was going to pair up with her friend Brendan….but then he was out with the flu. But he got her a replacement before the tv people could. Nice, huh? Well, not according to Hannah, because he called the one guy she couldn’t be near. Her ex. Drew. Meyers. Quarterback for the Denver Broncos.
Hannah is looking for love. She wants a chance at finding a nice guy during this reality show. She wants to forget Drew. She’s already been avoiding him for years. They broke up right when he signed.
I had bit of a hard time figuring out Hannah. She was hot and then cold towards Drew. Both clearly wanted each other, so her panicking and pushing him away, did not really make sense.
I was hoping for more reality tv competition (we get to see some familiar faces from the first book Crush in the Cascades), but this was the Drew and Hannah 2nd chance show for the most part. The epilogues were a great add on!

Hannah Cooper is hoping to find love and this TV show on a tropical island sounds perfect for scoping out eligible men. She was all set to partner with her buddy Brendan when he got sick and had to find a substitute. Much to Hannah’s surprise and disappointment, the replacement he arranged for her turned out to be her football ex-boyfriend, Drew Meyers!
My difficulty was with the character, Hannah. I thought she was behaving unreasonably toward Drew giving him mixed signals. He seemed ready to get back together, yet she pushed him away. And the he-won’t-want-me and poor-pitiful-me behavior gets old fast. Better communication skills might have gotten her over that mantra before it turned monotonous. I prefer reading about stronger women who know what they want and are not afraid to take a chance on achieving it. I look to romance stories to be empowering and not demeaning. This one just didn’t draw me in. That’s just my own reaction and not meant to discourage others from reading it.
I received a digital ARC of this book. This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but it won’t be the last. This is the 2nd book in the series, but I didn’t read the first (I will be going back and reading it though!), so I don’t know if they are tied together. Hannah and Andrew were high school and college sweethearts but that was 3 years ago before he became a professional football player. She hasn’t talked to him since then. Currently she is getting ready to go on a reality TV show that her brother had previously been on. Her guy best friend Brenden was supposed to go with her as her teammate. But as she is ready to leave for the airport she gets a call from Brendan and he’s sick and can’t fly. He called the only person he knew who would take his place on short notice and that the TV show would allow….her ex, Andrew. Hannah is not happy about it. Andrew is thrilled. He never stopped loving her. Can Andrew win her over? Will they win a million dollars? You’ll have to read to find out!
I really enjoyed this quick romance book. Hannah is about to go on a couples’ reality tv competition with her best friend as her partner. After her friend gets sick, he arranges for Hannah’s former boyfriend to substitute as her partner on the show. The producers are delighted with the last-minute substitution because Andrew is a major football star (he’s recovering from an injury). Andrew and Hannah were in love in high school and college, but she had ghosted him. Andrew hopes to win Hannah back during the forced togetherness of the show. Meanwhile, Hannah struggles with several issues, including the reason she ghosted him years’ before. The story moves quickly, with dual points of view, an engaging romance and a HEA. I received an advance copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is my honest opinion of this book as I recieved a ARC copy. Hannah and Andrew are put back together after 3 years. He's still totally in love with her but she broke up with him never to explain why. Thrown together on a tv reality show that wants to use Andrew's fame to build ratings. Can they work out and get back together. Although deep down hannah never stopped loving him shes torn up. She has deep insecurities she has to get over. I dont like spoilers so all I'll say is it's a great book with twists and turns and although slow to start I'm glad I read it all as it's a brilliant books to defeat the odds and help with self belief. I definitely recommend it.

Hannah is a fabulous character. She is a great friend and loves fiercely. Andrew is a superstar quarterback, and very into Hannah. You can’t have a reality show if you don’t have a couple of bad apples, and Skylar and Blade fit the role perfectly.
The plot is loaded with great chemistry moments between Hannah and Andrew. There are pieces of humor, anger, worry, secrets, and some very hot sex scenes through out the story. The author makes the reader care about the characters and root for love to be the end all.
I love the author’s fast pace style of writing. She moves the story along at a record pace and keeps the reader engaged from the beginning to the end. I never fail to lose myself in her stories.
My review is voluntary and all comments and opinions are my own.
When both Eden and Phil find themselves jilted - they each embark on their own would be “honeymoon”. Both Eden and Phil have different situations but severe enough to leave each heartbroken. Eden decides to use this time to reinvent herself. Taking chances she wouldn’t normally take, or putting herself in uncomfortable situations purposefully. Phil on the other hand is the brooding, sarcastic workaholic. When he is near Eden she is always klutzy, falling down and embarrassing herself. Phil seem aloof . But the more Eden embarrasses herself the more he is enthralled by her genuineness and naivety. Read to find out if the two make lemonade out of lemons or if they are each others rebound,
This is interesting. Rather than having the book start with the woman pine for the man it is the other way around. We, the readers know, of course, that they are both actually into each other, but outwardly, we can see that Drew is really trying his best to get back with Hannah.
Their history keeps getting in the way and if Hannah can just get out of her own head and trust in Drew they would be together much sooner.
I loved the journey, though. The funny moments were quite precious, too! Great job, author!

In this second instalment of the Race for Riches or Romance series, things are a tiny bit less about the reality show they’re filming and bit more about Andrew and Hannah’s second chance. Since they still deeply love each other, the reason they broke up earlier is a well-kept mystery through the story.
“You may not be perfect, but you’re perfect for me.”
Second chances are truly beautiful, in the fictional world at least. Oh and ohmygod, thank you for the multiple epilogues; definitely needed, every single one of them! Definitely looking forward to the rest of the series as well.
✨ARC Review ✨ *** Thank you to Lisa S. Gayle for the ARC to review. *** Tangled in the Tropics was so good. It was a light, easy going book. Both characters loved each other so muh. Once they got over their issues, their love was beautiful. I loved Drew. He was perfect, even though he did not agree. He was sweet, caring, and so understanding. Hannah was pretty great too. She got on my nerves with her avoidance but once her secret was revealed, I was able to understand her hang ups. I loved the ending and cannot wait from more from this world. *** ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ***
Two of my guilty pleasures are romance novels and reality television, so a book that combines them is right up my alley. This is the second book in a series, but reads easily as a standalone.
I really liked the characters in this book, even if Drew did seem a bit too perfect The friendships and even the sabotage felt genuine. The story did seem to drag a little in the middle, but it picked up.
I haven't read this first book in this series, but I plan to check it out.
This is book 2 in Gayle's Race for Riches or Romance series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is Hannah and Drew's story and another great addition to this series. Loved these characters and I am still loving the concept of mixing romance with reality tv - although I personally like reading more about it than actually watching. Great storyline, steamy chemistry, humor, and more. I'm hooked on this series and definitely looking forward to more!

I really enjoyed the setting of this novel. The author did a great job of bringing the tropical island to life. I could almost feel the warm breeze and smell the salty air.
What I didn't like:
The plot of this novel was a bit rushed and predictable. I could see where the story was going from the beginning. I also found some of the dialogue to be a bit cheesy. The character development fell flat, and at times I lost interest. Overall, I mostly enjoyed this book, but it wasn't my favorite romance novel. I doubt I will read this author in the future.
I was very curious to read Hannah’s story after reading the first book. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed because she isn’t as much fun as I thought she would be. Her cold/warm attitude towards Drew put me off and his “she is my life” attitude were a bit of a bummer.
The second half of the book was better, there was some more schwung in it. Once she works through some problems she has, she’s all in. It was a nice read.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I absolutely devoured this book! Hannah and Andrew are a couple you can’t help but get behind! Seeing them come together and work towards each other was so fun to root for throughout the book. I love that they worked to be vulnerable throughout the story. A cute story through and through! While this is the second book in a series, I read it as a stand alone and it was wonderful! Thank you Lisa S. Gayle for letting me be part of your ARC reading team!
This was a fun read, especially as it spoke to some of my professional life working in reality tv. This is the second book in the Race to the Riches series and while not as polished and fun as book 1, Hannah and Drew definitely delivered some funny and smecksy moments.

Hannah and Drew were together years ago but broke up when he went pro. She wanted to do the reality tv show her brother competed in. She was to go with her friend Brendon. He all of a sudden for the flu. He has Drew take his place. She does all she can to avoid him. But in the end....
Andrew & Hannah: Book 2 of The Race for Riches or Romance: Second chance/ Action-adventure/ Travel/ Beach/ Reality TV RomCom: Can be read as a standalone, but it’s better read in order. Fun and cute storyline with great characters. Love this series.
