"Who reads an entire travel book?" you might ask. Well, I did and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Although I had it in mind to simply use it as a trip planning resource, the sheer eye-candy of this book proved irresistible and I found myself engrossed in its content. The entries are brief, sometimes too brief, but most of them are quite satisfying as a good introduction to many, many attractions. I still use Lonely Planet to get the honest low down on unsafe neighborhoods, the political & social climate, and to find out about culturally alternative or off-beat attractions, but I now use DK travel guides to help point me in the direction of all the visually stunning attractions that a place has to offer.

I bought this Madrid guide as a 'in case it's needed' help for my trip to Madrid. I read through it before going and then kept it with me while being there. The greatest thing for me about this guide is that at the back there is a small folded map (which you can even put in your pocket) which has the centrum of Madrid on it, the metro map and some tips of place to visit or to eat. The first two were great because I didn't always needed to take my guide with me and could jsutkeep this in my pocket. During other moments I took the complete guide with me so that now and then I could read a little bit about what I was seeing.

The guide is build up really well and also divided greatly and gives great information. It is very handy to use.

These DK Eyewitness guides are great, more than just useful, they set things in historical contexts and lead you to unexpected places. Four pages on bigger galleries and museums like the Prado and the Thyssen -Bornemisza; the suggested walks around districts were clear and fascinating. The café recommendations turned out great, except we did try and find two non existent tabernas. Plus the print could be bigger.

Gosto bastante desses guias Top 10 da DK. Para quem não tem muito tempo para ficar lendo guias enormes, é uma ótima opção!

This guide proved to be very useful to me when I visited the magnificent capital city of Madrid last year in 2019.

The book itself is chock full with information about all of the historical, cultural, recreational and entertainment attractions Madrid has to offer. In my case, it has helped me to appreciate what I have missed out during my one week stay, like many of the artistic masterpieces in the Prado museum (one of the best in the world by a large margin) as the museum is so huge I felt nauseous after some hours there. I also continued reading this book way after my stay in Madrid had ended as the guide book is written in an engaging manner for someone interested in travelling like myself.

True, most of what is written in this guide book can be found online but this is the more authoritative text with more detailed and better information about everything the city has to offer. Buy this book if you want to appreciate Madrid more as I'm very happy with my purchase and will try to buy more of these books about different cities in the future.

I love the DK Eyewitness Travel Guides. These "Top Ten" books are smaller than the usual guides, and are perfect for just a quick visit to the destination in question. These guide books are always full of helpful tidbits and amazingly detailed maps. I also love that the pages are somehow a little bit waterproof and rugged, and the overall size of the book is small enough to tuck right into my small shoulder bag that I travel with.

This will be used well on my upcoming trip to Madrid!

I am a frequent visitor to Spain’s Malaga. However, I have never visited Madrid. I can safely say having read this handy e-guide I will be booking a trip there as soon as possible. This book is very easy to navigate with the highlights that you really need to see whilst there. Along with handy hints and tips.
I absolutely looked the google map links. This is going to be so handy when I make it there.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to see an arc

OK for quick highlights but I would not recommend this book. I did not find that I would like to visit the top ten of anything in the city except for top 10 sites. Bars, restaurants, etc are nice to know but when you are in the middle of your day...not so easy to use. I would recommend using the maps found at the Metro and from the hotel you stay at instead. Look up top 10 must see sites online.

This was a very well mapped out guide that showed you not only the sights, but the history of the city as well as the stories behind all the famous places of Madrid. I wasn't going to Madrid so the information was more for curiosity then helpful navigating. Never the less it was still a great way to have a fun history lesson.

lovely little pocket guide for trip to Madrid. Maps for transportation and suggested itinerary for 2/3/4 day stays which is very useful. Loads of photos and tips. There are some comprehensive maps included in the e-book, a little harder to navigate than the pull out map iI assume you get with a paper edition. Thank you #NetGalley for the copy to review.

I'd give it 3.5 stars - it has a lot of information and the photos are helpful when identifying certain sights, but sometimes the information about historical events and sights is too lean.

Fairly informative top 10 lists for a variety of things in madrid, covering sightseeing and restaurants, even the top 10 things to see in particular museums.

Nie przepadam za przewodnikami z wydawnictwa Wiedzy i Życia, bo są roztrzepane i ciężko mi się w nich połapać. Za dużo źle umieszczonych obrazków.

Nice try. A top 10 list of many things. What makes the list? What classifies a place as a 5th or a 7th? Magic. At least tripadvisor is free with an adblocker.
